Diddy knows what is up. As you should have already heard, the Court of Arbitration for Sport has
agreed to freeze the two-window transfer ban on Chelsea, as well as the four-month playing ban on
Gael Kakuta. These bans, imposed by Fifa's Dispute Resolution Chamber, are temporarily lifted until
the club's appeal has been heard and ruled on.

Because with live in a world of litigation and because people get all bent out of shape over the
smallest things (that could easily be explained) and because litigation takes forever and lawyers
are expensive (otherwise they wouldn't bother to take forever) and because you can get any kind of
suspension lifted while you're waiting for an appeal it appears that Chelsea can do business as
usual since the Court of Arbitration for Sport won't be able to set a date for a hearing until
February.

I woke up cheerful today, as is normally the case on most Saturday's, especially on Saturday's when
we're playing at home. My smile quickly turned into a miserable frown and my joy evolved, faster
than than any Richard Dawkin's book, into disgust as I read that Chelsea are now allowed to trade
within January's transfer window after the Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS) postponed the FIFA
imposed ban until it (CAS) has heard the club's appeal.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) kindly announced today that they would grant Chelsea's
request for a stay in the club's transfer ban, meaning Chelsea will now be free to flash the cash
in January. Of course their final judgement over the club's alleged wrong-doing over the signing of
Gael Kakuta is still to come, but in the short-term Chelsea will be able to strengthen the squad if
Ancelotti feels reinforcements are needed.

Reports in this morning's papers – most notably on the back page of the Times – suggest that
Chelsea are pushing the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to suspend FIFA's transfer ban while
its appeal is being considered, freeing the club up to make purchases in January.
The Times' report suggests that Chelsea are already drawing up a list of targets which includes
David Villa, Daniele De Rossi, Middlesbrough's Adam Johnson and, most worryingly, Emile Heskey.

It's funny how karma works. Chelsea took an inhumanely stern line with Adrian Mutu, and now
FIFA has taken a stern line with them.
The Blues have been found guilty of "inducing" French midfielder Gael Kakuta to break his
contract with Lens in 2007. FIFA has forbid them to participate in the next two transfer windows,
barring them from signing a player until 2011.

Fight fire with fire, the expression goes. I have always argued that there is a basic
