It's safe to assume that the current Liverpool squad needs rebuilding and reconstruction this
off season if they are to replicate the form that saw them finish runners up in the 2008-2009
season. It Liverpool aspire to challenge for a top four finish or the title, new bodies and a
fresh outlook may just be what's needed at Anfield.
Spanish national team
Barcelona and Real Madrid are the dominant teams in Spain and they proved it by being the two
teams that monopolized nearly half of the spots of La Furia's 30-man roster. Barcelona ended
up on top as seven of their players earned call ups. There were some surprises in Vicente Del
Bosque's list, but for the most part the players that were expected to be on, were.
It was not a pleasant outing for Steven Gerrard as England captain in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Although he opened the scoring for his country merely four minutes into their tournament opener,
the very sight of a dejected Gerrard exiting the Lions' team plane suggested that he was ready to
leave England's sorrows behind to move on to club football.
El Clasico: Real Madrid vs. Barcelona
This is the most important match of the season for Real Madrid and Manuel Pellegrini. When the
newly elected president Florentino Perez started his second "Galactico" project he never imagined
that the word "failure" would be linked to it.
I hate to bump the preview off the top, but the signing of Luke Young is just about official, and
while I'm not obviously not overwhelmed, I reckon I should still chime in with a few ifs and buts
while they're timely.
I'm desperately hoping he's the new Arbeloa – a versatile bench player, primarily the deputy
right-back with an ability to fill in on the left if needed.
Yessss! I'm logged on! Cescy hails his technological breakthrough.
Our F5 love Cesc Fabregas is on twitter. He's followed the likes of other Spanish 'ballers like
Xabi Alonso (who tweets about Dexter), Sergio Ramos (who tweets photos like this) and Alvaro
Arbeloa (who confirmed Cesc officially today) on the twitterverse.
'They'll only whack Mourinho Tomorrow Because of this Angel! Thank YOU!' says
Pipita.Last night , Real Madrid took a trip to France to play their 2nd Champions League
group stage match. Auxerre's stadium had an English feel to it with its stands right up to the edge
of the pitch filled with rabid fans singing, cheering and booing boisterously as the match unfolded
last night.

They don't get any bigger than this. Barcelona v Real Madrid on a special Monday night.
Real Madrid enter the game with 32 points from its 12 games, while Barcelona has picked up 31
points.
It is a fascinating game on so many levels. You have the political aspect of Barcelona versus
Madrid.
At 10pm Saturday evening, the footballing world will stop in its tracks and focus on events at the
Santiago Bernabeu as
Real Madrid and
Barcelona kick off the
160th Clasico. It
is being labelled the match of the millenium in these parts, as the Spanish press live up to their
reputation as sensationalists of the highest order.
Although we tweeted pics of Baby Kai over a month ago, we've yet to feature the little bubs on
the main page. And for that, we deserve to be force-fed vegetables with no dip for a week.
We would show you a clear shot of the kid, but we're fearful of Coleen Rooney and her legal
counsel's 5-inch heels puncturing holes in our quilted Chanel bags.
With eight FC Barcelona players in the national squad, Spain has to be the name on every Barca fans
lips. I have to admit that they are just my second choice behind my all time favourites Argentina.
Spain will be the most fancied team in this World Cup. Spain always had a wonderful team but
somehow managed to fail consistently at the biggest stage.

Villa.

When Real Madrid played the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2005, they brought a star-studded lineup that
included stars like Ronaldo, David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos and Luís Figo.
Five years later, the faces have changed, but Real Madrid will once again bring an all-star cast
when they return to California next month on tour.
We certainly hope Real Madrid stocked up on tissues, as the teams two longest serving players
finally said goodbye this week.

Jose Mourinho - Maybe he's more Voldermort than Harry Potter...?.So here we are left to
ponder for an extra weekend (isn't it kinda stupid to start the La Liga Season only to let the
International break cut it off on the following weekend?... anyway, I digress) what happened to
Real Madrid in what was supposed to be the glorious arrival of the Special One in Spain.
::: FistedAway today welcomes a guest post from Elliott, editor of the rather lovely

Perez was not amused by Mourinho's sombre post game press conference.

Is this the season of injuries, Kickettes? We don't know what's swirling around in the
atmosphere that's causing so many awful injuries so soon, but we no likey. As such, we will be
looking for answers here until we find them.
In last night's 0-0 Champions League draw between Manchester United and Rangers, United winger
Antonio Valencia suffered a truly horrific broken ankle.
Getting Jiggy With It: Ozil wonders why Ronaldo is celebrating with Marcelo when the pass
and all the hard work of opening the Malaga defense came from him..It's hard to wake up
from the state of ‘hibernation' that the international break puts me through... as of yesterday
morning, despite last Saturday's nifty performance (coupled with a nice scoreline), my blogging
brain was still in hibernation (it also has to do with the fact that I finally got my hands on FIFA
11 for my PSP).

What a difference a year makes in football. This time last season, Chelsea were looking to kick on
from the stability Guus Hiddink provided under new manager Carlo Ancelotti and we could only hope
for an instant reaction to his appointment and to do well in the coming season.
Liverpool on the other hand were being tipped as potential title challengers after a strong second
place finish in the 2008/2009 season.
2 Games, 2 wins. 9 Goals. The world awaits the clash of the Spanish Titans at the Camp Nou this
coming Monday... and from the looks of it: Real Madrid have cranked themselves into gear for this
one...

Y además a kilos.
resto.

"How do you control this thing?"
"Que?"
That's it then. All of the goodwill earned by Rafa Benitez with the Champions League win in
Istanbul in 2005 has now run out there's not a drop left.
After Liverpool lost to Reading at Anfield last night, time is surely up for the Horizontally
Challenged Spanish Waiter.
Atlético Madrid played one of their most inspired performances of the best performances of the
Quique Sánchez Flores era as they ended Barcelona's 22-week unbeaten streak in La Liga by
continuing the Culé woes at the Vicente Calderón 2-1.
Barca killer Diego Forlán opened the scoring for Atlético while Simão scored off a brilliant
freekick.

Toques nos sentamos para dejaros detalles, sensaciones y protagonistas que creemos y esperamos que
sean factores decisivos en un partido que dicen que puede decidir la Liga BBVA.

Alvaro Arbeloa has branded Rafa Benitez's management style as "a bit robotic".
And the defender, who left Liverpool for Real Madrid last year, claims his old boss won't throw
caution to the wind.
He said: "Rafa doesn't want you to take any risks ever. He's happy to score first and sit back.

Brasil has a fine history of attacking full backs. They reached the idea of a flat back four
first, and have after that always displayed a tendency to lead the way on defensive
progression.

Xabi Alonso - When He Turns it On, We Turn it On.2 Madrid derbies, 2 victories. Last night,
we took our derby success over Atletico to 12 years. It seems that '2' was last night's magic
number as Xabi Alonso (22), Alvaro Arbeloa (2) and Gonzalo Higuain (20) all found their names on
the scoresheet as we romped towards victory: maintaining our pressure on Barca and our La Liga
winning streak as well as our home winning streak.
