We got the three points here. It wasn't a pretty three points but, at this point in time, I'll
take them.
First, the video of our goal, set up beautifully by Nemeth.
Some good aspects to mention about our play today, but overall, it was not an impressive
victory.
Our defence today was not the greatest, and Majstorovic and Juanfran in particular were quite
poor.

An extremely disappointing result today for AEK in Giannena.
Our starting lineup consisted of Saja, Araujo, Majstorovic, Arce, Juanfran, Hersi, Guerreiro,
Jahic, Manduca, Nemeth, Pavlis.
I can't comment much on the first half since I could only watch the second half, but from what I
heard we saw some decent passing from the team.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal for Real Madrid during a 4-2 victory over Copa Libertadores
2008 and Copa Sudamericana 2009 winners Liga de Quito in the Peace Cup yesterday. Ronaldo notched
the goal via 48th-minute penalty after being fouled in the box by defender Norberto Araujo. Madrid
will now face Italian powerhouse Juventus in Sevilla on Friday [.
So, our first home game of the season (after the match against Olympiakos was cancelled), and it
could prove to be a fairly difficult one. Iraklis have a strong squad and I believe they have the
potential to cause trouble to any team in the league.
Nonetheless, our squad is also strong as well now so I believe we can take the win.
Some important comments to mention about yesterday's match.
Firstly, our to team put on a good performance. Even now more can be improved on. but it was a
solid game for the most part with some enjoyable football.
This is definately a good result. On paper, Iraklis are certainly not a pushover this year with
some pretty impressive signings being made for them over the summer.
AEK returned to the winners circle with a much needed but largely unimpressive victory over the
team from Komotini at OAKA.The visitors actually took the lead in the 26th minute when Majstorovic
got turned "inside out" by their striker Buval in the box and he left Saja clutching at air with a
nice finish.
Well, our night went from good to about as bad as it could get. As you can see from the post
below we were up 1-0 at half time.
The second half started and early on Majstorovic gets his second yellow and is sent off and Bate
tie the game. So, one of our key players is sent off, the pitch condition is deteriorating (and it
was disgusting to begin with) and we were loosing the control over the game we had before.
We got the loss here I was fearing. Perhaps not a pleasing result but immediately we notice the
away goal we scored. This will help us alot since really all we need in OAKA now is 1-0.
Before anything else two points must be pointed out. Firstly, Scocco was out for this match due
to cards and will play with us for the next match.
The time has finally arrived for the real AEK to stand up and make a statement about our
intentions for the year.Quite simply,we must beat a team like Vaslui,we are a bigger clup with a
prouder history and we can't afford to miss out on European competition 2 years in a row.I beleive
Bajevic will employ a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Blanco as the spearhead.
We got a good win tonight at OAKA against a team that could have put up some difficulties.
Unfortunately though, its quite late here, so I dont have time to post a review right now. Either
I'll write it tomorrow or perhaps if either AEKMAN74 or AEKBaltimore watched the match they'll get
something.
Well, our match in Giannena starts in a little under an hour. Our most likely starting lineup is
said to be Saja, Araujo, Majstorovic, Arce, Juanfran, Jahic, Guerreiro, Hersi, Manduca, Nemeth, and
Blanco. We will be going 4-4-2 with Blanco and Nemeth up front. A good line-up in my opinion, very
strong, with some experienced players.
Well, there has been quite a bit of discussion in the post AEKBaltimore put up. Since the match
alot has happened, most regarding the horrendous officiating at the match. But first, a review.
For everyone who has been following AEK you know how incredibly unlucky we tend to be,
especially when it matters most.
Though the 2009 regular season is finished for them, the Aztex are still going strong. A number of
players and other individuals were honored at a recent post-season awards banquet, and the team is
still looking forward to a few bigger-than-usual exhibition games.
First, the awards:
- Yordany Alvarez - Fans' Player of Year
- Miguel Gallardo - Chantico's Army's Player of Year (more info)
- Eddie Johnson - Players' Player of Year
- Michael Callahan - Clubman of Year
- Ignacio "Nacho" Araujo (Univision Radio) - President's Award
Additionally, Eddie Johnson was just named to the All-League Second Team.
First off, the highlights:
AEKMAN74 posted a review earlier on this match which covered most of the main points so be sure
to check that out as well. I'd just like to add a few things.
We lined up with Saja as keeper, Araujo, Arce, Majstorovic, and Georgeas (who played left back)
playing defence, Hersi, Geurreiro, Jahic, and Manduca playing Midfield, with Scocco and Blanco
playing attack.
Kanellopoulos has given his 13.5 % of shares to the amateur club so that they now have a 23.5 %
share of the club. A pretty big share of the club indeed. Dimitris Hatzichristos as many of you
will know is the head of the amateurs and Original21.
What will happen from this move nobody can say yet.
Uefa have dismissed Aek's appeal over the 3 match ban given to our Argentinian right full back
Carlos Araujo, for his send off against Everton at Goodison Park in the first match of the Europa
League. He therefore will miss the 2 matches against Bate and the away game to Benfica, returning for
the last group game against Everton at the OAKA.
Ok, to be honest, I was expecting a loss for AEK here. Aris were considered favorites for this
game and I think that's somewhat justified. Bearing that in mind, I'll take a draw here. Its never
easy to win away against Aris, even on a good day.
I wasn't able to watch the match since it was satellite.
On Saturday one group of Argentines abroad got off to a very good start in a new campaign José
Luis Brown's national Under 17 team beat Honduras 1-0 in the first match of their age group World
Cup in Nigeria. Sergio Araujo scored the only goal of the game. Around the world in the [...]
So, a nice, relatively comfortable win on Monday brought us up from ninth to joint fifth.
We got the three points we so desperately needed, as well as a little bit of reassurance for the
players and fans. Beating a team like Larissa with a score of 3-1 is always a nice thing. Sure,
Larissa might not be at their best, but they are rarely an easy team to win against (I feel like
I've said that many times already this season).
Diego, (who signed for Juventus in May), was back on the singles market for about an hour this
month.
FYI, in this current economy, the window of opportunity to hook up with a footballer is mighty
small - and getting smaller still, Kickettes.

First off, enjoy the video.
Well I posted my review in the comments section of the previous post by AEKBaltimore, but here
it is again.
I was nervous about this one before it started but still I had the feeling we would get the win.
And we did.
Firstly, as for the game, the team played wonderful football, especially compared to what we
were seeing just last week.

Quarto Árbitro: Massimo BUSSACA-SUI
Aos 8 minutos do primeiro tempo, o camisa 11, Sergio ARAUJO, jogador do Boca Juniors-ARG recebeu o
primeiro cartão amarelo do jogo.
This match proved one thing: This is the worst AEK we have ever seen.
The match started terribly, with plenty of chances for Panionios to score until the 21st, when
they did manage to get their first goal. Riera and Estoyianoff absolute tore AEK up this evening.
Estoyianoff was able to get past our defence with ease while Riera missed some dangerously close
chances.
In the past, European clubs saw in Brazilians the road for success. So many players were hired
that things may be changing. Below a list of Brazilians sent to second division in the main

The last round of matches of the 2009 Argentine Clausura featured a "championship" game as 1st
place Huracán traveled to 2nd place Vélez Sarsfield for a match the entire Argentine footballing
nation would be mesmerized by. The match began as normal but after 20+ minutes the game was delayed
due to visible hail slightly smaller than golf balls.

month.

Everton rolled over AEK Athens on Thursday, winning 4-0 with goals from Joseph Yobo (10th), Sylvain
Distin (17th), Steven Pienaar (37th), and Jo (82nd). Tim Howard needed one save for the shutout,
but the end of the game didn't go as smoothly. With Athens playing a man down from the 55th when
Carlos Araujo was sent off, Everton was also shown red in stoppage time.
Everton have started off quite slow in the Premier League, but apparently the Europa League is a
whole different ballgame. Steven Pienaar and the rest of the squad kicked off their Europa League
campaign with an opening match against AEK. One would think that Everton might get off to a slow
start given the immense pressure of being in such a prestigious tournament, but I guess they missed
that memo.
Argentina is off to a good start in the U-17 World Cup.
Another win today.
2-1 over Germany.
The goals were scored by River Plate defender Esteban Espíndola and Boca Juniors forward Sergio
Araujo.
With the win today Argentina advanced to the second round.
