When Transfers Go Wrong: 11 Players The Premier League Will Never Forget - originally posted on
Soccerlens.com
Manchester United and Liverpool have both be criticised for over paying for players,
however, what about those clubs that got it totally wrong? Here are 11 of the worst signings from
recent Premier League history.
Liverpool field strong lineup for their final preseason match today vs Valencia.
Liverpool Lineup: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Aurelio, Adam, Henderson, Spearing,
Aquilani, Downing, Carroll.
Subs: Jones, Doni, Cole, Maxi, Kyrgiakos, Kuyt, Lucas, Ngog, Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson.
The Liverpool line-up for the home friendly against Valencia on August 6th has been confirmed as
follows:
Starting 11:
Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Aurelio, Spearing, Henderson, Adam, Downing, Aquilani,
Carroll.
Subs:
Doni, Cole, Maxi, Kyrgiakos, Kuyt, Lucas, Ngog, Kelly, Flanagan, Robinson.
Liverpool will make a last ditch bid for Fiorentina winger Juan Manuel Vargas, with the club hoping
to steal the march on Juventus, according to Peru news outlet Andina.
Vargas was said to be close to agreeing a deal with Juventus worth £9 million. The Peruvian has
made 80 appearances for Fiorentina and scored 12 goals.
What Went Wrong For Liverpool Against Sunderland - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Manager Kenny Dalglish unleashed his 100 million worth signings against Sunderland, still
Liverpool were only able to earn a single point from the game. After an impressive first half of
dictating the play, Liverpool somehow completely turned off in the second one.

Liverpool have confirmed that they've accepted a bid from Hoffenheim for Ryan Babel. Media reports
put the fee at €7m, or £5.8m, which is almost exactly 50% of what Liverpool paid for the
winger/striker/professional Tweeter in the summer of 2007. The deal's not done yet – Babel still
has to agree personal terms – but I expect we're past the point of no return.
The never-ending story finally has its conclusion. Our long international nightmare is over, and
Charlie Adam will sign for Liverpool after completing his 17th medical (rough estimate). Danny
Wilson and Jonjo Shelvey continue to be mentioned as possible makeweights on loan, but that hasn't
been confirmed.
The Liverpool FC line up for today's pre-season friendly in Singapore against Guangdong Sunray
Cave, is as follows:
Starting 11:
Gulacsi, Flanagan, Kelly, Carragher, Wilson, Poulsen, Spearing, Shelvey, Cole, Pacheco, Ngog.
Subs:
Hansen, Agger, Kyrgiakos, Robinson, Wisdom, Adam, Aquilani, Coady, Kuyt, Carroll.

Squad sheets: Arsenal v Liverpool
Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool provided one of the horror moments of last season for Arsenal when
they equalised in the 102nd minute at the Emirates, and they might not get a better chance to
inflict more pain. Arsène Wenger is under siege, with his problems taking in a clutch of injuries
and suspensions, Samir Nasri, and the difficulties in making signings.

Calcio Thoughts is back with it's first edition of the New Year! It's been a long time since the
last one, and the questions might be a little dated, but I'll provide the most current answer to
the best of my abilities. If you have a calcio question, comment, thought, or anything you'd like

Today's news roundup features one thing in common: the future is hazy for nearly everyone.
A Tale of Two Fratelli
Daniele De Rossi and Alberto Aquilani were once the crown jewels of Roma's youth academy, two
midfielders who complimented each other perfectly. Now, both face uncertain futures.
There's quite a bit to look forward to today, even without calcio this weekend. Cesare Prandelli
and Italy will play in two games as Italy look to return to a superpower. The Offside podcasts have
been updated as well and feature some great new content.
There's no Serie A action this week as European leagues take a break for some international
football.
Thiago Motta and Cassano celebrating Italy's goal
As this international friendly week has rolled around, I'm doing my best to follow nations as they
struggle to qualify for the European Chuampionships of 2012. But struggle isnt really the proper
term for some nations, as Italy and Spain, are one step closer to the Euruopean tournament.

Two juicy soundbites emerged today from Italy. Admittedly, one was from Facebook, and since that
merely exists in a hypothetical cloud, it's not exactly from Italy, but both concern players'
compatibility. Giuseppe Rossi? So compatible he could have his own Match.com. Marco Borriello?
Not so much.

Kenny Dalglish is rightly bullish about his chances of attracting top class talent to Anfield this
summer.
Liverpool's pulling power is unlikely to be dented by their absence from the Europa League next
season.
In truth the biggest challenge facing Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli over the
coming months isn't strengthening the squad, it's getting rid of a huge amount of dead wood.

Per un certo periodo di tempo, dal 2009 al 2011, Alberto Aquilani e il Liverpool sono stati in

(Bleacher Report) Aquilani was supposed to be the £20million hero under Rafael Benitez in his
final season as Liverpool's manager. However, a season that was ripe with injury, despite several
masterful showings did not do enough to prove to short term manager Roy Hodgson that he was worthy
of keeping.

Squad sheets: Liverpool v Sunderland
Liverpool have lost an opening-day home fixture only twice since 1962, and having spent £54m
since bidding farewell to the most topsy-turvy season on record there is justifiable expectation on
Kenny Dalglish's team to gain early momentum against this summer's other reconstruction work.
