I doubt it had anything to do with my criticism of the other scoreboard, but in the immediate aftermath of the post, MLS rolled out a new, faster, prettier heading that has a freshness expectancy of about a week:

Ooh, brushed metal background with a two-tone fake gradient. So tough. So hard.
