Thierry Henry looks happy in NYC. (Andy Mead / MLSsoccer.com)
Thierry Henry is really enjoying life in the Big Apple. As the league gets ready for the
All-Star game this week, Henry and others are out doing the whole PR thing in the city. This photo
came from a small set over on the league's Facebook page.

While last week's WWL post didn't make it due to the holiday, this week's is here. The Gold Cup
may be stealing most of the headlines, but Major League Soccer still roars on here. But week 12 in
MLS was one that most probably will forget, or will likely have already forgotten.
If you have not yet seen it - here is evidence that Arsene Wenger might be signing him soon.
Sergio "Kun" Aguero's son, Benjamin all of two years old with bullet kicks and some nice foot
skills. He's also got grandpa Maradona's genes. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does
it?
What do you get when you cross an eccentric, former footballer turned aspiring actor, with a
footy team whose glory years have long since been relegated to the history books? The return of
the New York Cosmos?
A new Frenchman has landed in the Big Apple and if past experience is anything to go by, he
intends to take the New York Cosmos to the top of the football ladder.
Reports from France have surfaced reporting that Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka
may be in talks with NYRB for a potential move away from the London powerhouse. Before we all
start getting too excited, let's remember what this is: a rumor. It hasn't been the first one,
most likely won't be the last, so we shouldn't get too swept up in this one just yet (remember when
Raul was destined for the Big Apple?
Steve Job's new plan for Apple's spaceship building looks a lot like the 1950 Maracana
stadium!!
Maracanazos always thought Steve Jobs was a cool guy!

Chelsea have completed the signing of Belgian prodigy 18 year old striker Romelu
Lukaku for an estimated £20m.
Lukaku has averaged a goal every two games in the Belgian Jupiler League since making his
Anderlecht debut as a snotty nosed 16 year old and has been hailed as the next Didier Drogba
following his powerful turn of speed and upper body strength.
Under the watchful eyes of grandma and Daddy's girlfriend Irina, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. was spittin'
his baby game on Victoria Coentrão in the Bernabeu luxury suites yesterday. Should we be surprised
that the apple doesn't seem to have fallen that far from the tree?
According to the Superbrands Expert Panel, Manchester United are the sixth most recognizable
brand in the world, behind only Google, Apple, the BBC, Dyson [which I find puzzling] and Facebook.
They are ahead of Coca-Cola and Microsoft. In the same survey Chelsea are placed 54th, Arsenal
160th and Liverpool 171st.
Of all the figures I've encountered in soccer over the years, Terry Byrne is right near the top of
my most intriguing people list. A 44-year-old Englishman, Byrne has gone on a remarkable life
journey from London taxi driver to massage therapist for Chelsea and England to David Beckham's
best friend and personal manager to a sports business career of his own.
Liverpool FC has launched what it claims is the first official football club game app for the
iPad.
The game, which pits players against Liverpool FC's goalkeeper Pepe Reina in a penalty shootout,
will be available across all Apple's mobile devices including the iPod Touch and iPhone 3GS.
The game's developer, Bright AI, has used a combination of the physics of a real football's
movement, recordings of supporters' chants and sound effects from matches to replicate the
experience of a penalty shootout at Anfield stadium.
Want another way to interact with the game? Here's a new option as reported by The Offsides:
Heineken has launched their groundbreaking StarPlayer app which lets you play along live with
Champions League games. Heineken – official Champions League sponsors – rolled out StarPlayer
at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium at the semi-final clash between Schalke and Manchester United.

WASHINGTON -- The shock of Monday's trade that forced Dwayne De Rosario to change addresses for
a second time this season hit just about everybody involved.
De Rosario seemed blindsided by the deal.

I really should have done this earlier in the week with all the games that took place last
night. It was a pretty interesting night in MLS considering all the friendlies and league matches
going on. MLS didn't fare all that well in the friendlies (though Philadelphia seemed to do
alright), but the league matches is where things were interesting.

CONCACAF: Michael Lewis of Big Apple Soccer & Tropigol.
An abbreviated episode of this great RBNY-themed podcast, but a must listen nontheless. This week,
Mark & Dave discuss the 2-2 home draw vs FC Dallas, the MLS All-Star game @Red Bull Arena, and the
Emirates Cup. Their guest this week is Michael Lewis, of Big Apple Soccer fame.
Jack Wilshere limped out of the fridnly Emirates Cup against FC Big Apple yesterday and then
claimed our squad is not atrong enough to win the Premier League title, says the Mail.
He was substituted with an ankle injury after just seven minutes of the 1-1 draw and then
said: "We are not a spending club but we still managed to stay up there with the top teams.

York.
I doubt it had anything to do with my criticism of the other scoreboard, but in the immediate
aftermath of the post, MLS rolled out a new, faster, prettier heading that has a freshness
expectancy of about a week:
Ooh, brushed metal background with a two-tone fake gradient. So tough. So hard.
