Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has praised new signing Jan Vertonghen, likening the Belgian
defender to retired captain Ledley King. King made an appearance before the club's clash against
West Bromwich Albion at White Hart Lane on Saturday and received rapturous applause, which manager
AVB is confident is on the cards for Vertonghen.
Success is what we want from the game, money is just something that comes along with it
The second day started (for me at least) at SMK Seksyen 11 where Nike held an event at that
school. Nike arranged for a surprised Arsenal visit to their school after they emerged victorious
with the highest number of points scored in the interschool challenge.
There's apparently a bit of disagreement about whether or not Liverpool performed that poorly
yesterday some maintain that they weren't necessarily that bad, and had they not had the
potential go-ahead goal waved off by Lee Mason, they'd have pushed on to get the win. I'm still of
the opinion that they were an embarrassing calamity for most of the match and gave a poor account
of themselves, tired or unlucky or whatever else.
If the wheels haven't completely fallen off yet, the Tottenham bandwagon has been jacked up and
is sitting on bricks outside the house. Might as well have a look at the exhaust while we're about
it Spurs are badly misfiring and in need of an overhaul.
That job-lot of Brasso we picked up for the end of the season can be tucked away under the
stairs because it's the team that need some polishing after another lacklustre performance.

1. How the mighty have fallen. United exited European competition last season after being
out-played by football deities Barcelona in the Champions League final. This season Sir Alex's men
were dumped out of the last 16 of the Europa League by seventh-placed La Liga side Athletic Bilbao.
2. Despite that low league position – a clear [.

Get ready for all sorts of weird on Wednesday.
Less than a month after he was traded to Chivas USA, former club captain Shalrie Joseph makes
his return to Gillette Stadium as a member of the Rojiblancos.
On a night when the Seattle Sounders were looking for their first league win in nine matches,
the Sounders not only found a way to beat an opponent in league play. They also welcomed back a
player who had been sidelined for far too long.
Goals from Alvaro Fernandez and Eddie Johnson provided the difference in a 2-1 New England
victory at CenturyLink Field on Saturday night, but the story of the night was Steve Zakuani.
Opinion has been very much divided on England's performance against Les Bleus on Monday. One person
who falls very much on the acutely unimpressed side of the spectrum is former Chelsea midfielder
Michael Ballack. Using a phrase made famous by his previous coach Jose Mourinho, Ballack accused
Roy Hodsgon of "parking three coaches" to achieve their point [.
In spite of my devastating taunts and fear-inducing ponytail, your troupe of hyperactive garden
gnomes defeated Zlatan, once again crushing my dream of finally adding the Champions League trophy
to my already overflowing silverware Zlabinet. So being the bigger man (I'm a 6'5" Zlatzilla and
you're a Pepsqueak) I must congratulate and applaud you.
Republic of Ireland 1-0 Bosnia & Herzegovina Friendly 26th May 2012
Giovanni Trapattoni is getting a rather decent squad of players together, and against Bosnia &
Herzegovina in Dublin, another gifted young Irishman made his first start for the Republic.
The gentle odour of fair play that has permeated the afternoon continues to
waft, with soul-affirming footage from the Northern Ireland Premiership game between Dungannon
Swifts and Ballymena United.
We join the action at 0-0 with Dungannon being awarded a penalty after Ballymena centre-back
Gavin Taggart catches the ball in the area mistakenly thinking he'd heard the whistle sound for
play to stop so his injured teammate, Chris Rodgers (who had dislocated a shoulder), could be
stretchered from the field.
An emotional prelude to the match as Villa's captain, Stiliyan "Stan" Petrov diagnosed with
acute leukemia was given a show of overwhelming support from fans and players from both sides.
Petrov was in the stands to see his team take on Chelsea and the warm up saw players wearing
"Support Stan" T-shirts.
It's more than likely that very few of you were watching AmaZulu vs Witbank Spurs in last 16 of
the South African Nedbank Cup in Durban on Saturday evening so, for those who missed it, here's
Thamsanqa Sangweni's cataclysmic 30-yard volley to score the only goal of the game for the former
against the latter WITH HIS WEAKER FOOT!
Loveable old Uncle Woy Hodgson threw a bit of a 'rage quit shit fit' after Papiss Cisse clonked
home Newcastle's third goal against West Brom at the Hawthorns yesterday afternoon, tearing off his
black armband and throwing on the ground.
Which is all well and good, in that it showed the veteran Baggies' manager still has the fight,
etc, etc the only problem being that the players were sporting the armbands as a mark of respect
given the recent death of West Brom club legend Ray Barlow, the man for whom the pre-match minute's
applause was conducted.
Fulham was a team with little really to play for, a bad away record, and missing its leading
scorer. They faced a Tottenham desperate to win at home and qualify for the Champions League under
a suddenly refocused manager. Needless to say it was over after 90 seconds.
That's not to say there were no bright spots on the day for our club who finish their 2011-12
Season 317 days after it started in a very respectable 9th spot.

Football often gets an absolute kicking in the wider world, for the behaviour of players,
officials, fans and authorities, and plenty of times the criticism is fully justified. This season
has seen a slew of unsavoury incidents, from racism to homophobia, from corrupt officials to rival
fans singing despicable songs about misfortunes that have befallen players or their families.
Pep Guardiola has announced that he will be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season. A
fitting farewell, to an epic era for the Catalan giants. Let's all give Senor Pep a round of

Lightning Strikes Twice in the space place in 3 days. This had Madridisimo collectively
groaning: "Oh Shit - Not Again!" .
Just a week after we started to fancy our Champions League odds by drawing APOEL Nicosia last
Friday while enjoying our 10 point lead in La Liga, we have all of a sudden decided to expose our
soft underbelly.
Who can forget the Santiago Bernabeu erupting in applause as Eric Abidal walked into the
limelight of the Champions League finals last year, his first appearance in months, battling liver
cancer. Barca was already enjoying a special moment cruising to the title over Man Utd. Abidal's
brief appearance was the cherry on top.
Que maravilloso! Following their victories yesterday, Atletico Madrid, Athletic
Bilbao and Valencia are all through to the Europa League
semi-finals with Sporting Lisbon taking up the final spot.
Strong minds and hearts of stone took Spurs to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and showed that we
are well set for the run-in. Although Tottenham made and missed countless chances, we were
consistently inventive and resolute in our determination to win this match. Ironically the
breakthrough goal finally came not from one of any number of scintillating moves but from a set
piece and a centre back.

Just a quick one ahead of the Spurs v Bolton quarter final rematch. With the news that Muamba is
now up and about, Owen Coyle and the Bolton fans are talking about some sort of show of
appreciation for the Spurs fans and medics at the start of the game. Perhaps a quick minutes
applause will be appropriate, a few lines of Fabrice Muamba from both sides at the start of the
game and then we can get on with what it sure to be an emotional, respectful and highly charged
quarter final with Chelsea awaiting the winners in the Wembley semi-finals.
Tottenham Hotspur are on their way to Wembley again for the FA Cup semi-Final against Chelsea
after battling past an inspired Adam Bogdan Bolton side on an emotional night at the Lane.
The night started with both sets of players warming up in T-shirts which read "Uniting for
Fabrice" on the front and "thank you for your support for Fabrice" on the back.
It had been almost five months since the last time he struck gold. No longer are we left to

Jul 2012 A minute's applause will be observed prior to kick-off tomorrow when Millwall play
Glenavon for former Northern Ireland defender Alan McDonald, who died suddenly last month.
"Awesome."
That one word response from Oguchi Onyewu summed up the feeling from the players and coaches from
Monday's public training session at Ludwig Field on the campus of the University of Maryland, where
more than 2,000 supporters took the opportunity to watch the team up close and personal.
Serbia lost 2-0 in a friendly against Spain on Saturday, but 20-year-old Serbian midfielder Adem
Ljajic committed an offense before the match even began that would get him kicked off the team.
According to the Football Association of Serbia, Ljajic breached their code of conduct by not
singing the national anthem with his teammates prior to kick off due to "personal reasons.
SOMERVILLE, Mass. When Katie Schoepfer was substituted out of the game in the 70th minute of
Saturday night's 3-2 Breakers victory over the Western New York Flash, the sellout crowd at Dilboy
Stadium erupted in applause. With the help of Schoepfer and her first career hat trick, the
Breakers solidified their place as the top team in WPSL Elite and extended their unbeaten streak to
four.
It's not often that your non-soccer friends offer up astonishing soccer reading advice, but just a
few weeks ago, that happened to me. "Graham" Cory said as we sat on his couch watching an old show,
"I have a book you need to read. It was the first book to make me understand why people all over
the world love and enjoy soccer.
It's only the Paraguayan third division, but any sort of professional football will be good for
the man with a bullet in his brain.
Salvador Cabanas, shot in the head in a Mexico City bar just over two years ago, recently played
a friendly with his former club side, Club America. Getting back to competitive football required
two notches, so he saddled up with his hometown club, 12 de Octubre of Itaugua.
The past two weekends felt a little empty, didn't they? No matches, no orange, and no fun for us
in Dynamo-land. But while fandom was in neutral over these weeks, and will stay there until Sunday,
rest assured that your favorite players are doing anything but simply waiting for the next match.
And do you know what else won't be staying in neutral?
Andy Carroll's return to Newcastle went about as bad as he probably feared on Sunday. Not only
did Fernando Torres, the man Liverpool sold for a tidy £50 million before quickly spending the
majority of it on Carroll, score for Chelsea the day before, but Newcastle won 2-0, with their new

Some bitch must have twisted Harry Redknapp's melon because he seems to be cracking right up.
Having pops at Chezza. Blaming his taxes on his poor dog Rosie, who has never done anything wrong
as far as I am aware. And now losing three games in a row has got to him.
I understand it must be hard for him to look in the mirror, what with nearly getting his dog banged
up and his ugly baggy face staring back, but he is losing it.
