The first day of the 2010 MLS Combine is in the books and while it was a truly ugly day, there
was actually some good soccer played and some impressive performances put in.
I won't go into great detail just yet about the day's events (I'll save a more detailed
breakdown for tomorrow), but I will provide you with some lists of overall performances for day
one:

Michael Essien has been confirmed to miss the remainder of Chelsea's season after failing to
recover from a nagging knee problem. The extent of the Ghanaian international's injury is baffling
even to the club's medical experts. It was expected that Essien would return for Chelsea's weekend
fixture against stoke.
Walking up and down the streets of New York before the most highly anticipated U.S. soccer match
in history, one could have mistaken this city for London, Berlin or Rio de Janeiro. Thousands of
people clad in football jerseys, and not the variety of Manning, Brady, or Peterson, but those of
Donovan, Altidore and Dempsey.

Once you're promoted from the Serie B, the main thought is survival. Bari did it last season
with fantastic attacking football, Parma also did it by blocking teams and hitting them on the
counter, and now, Cesena has to find a way to stay in the Serie A. The club is beginning to change,
a lot: plenty of new names, players coming in, and going out with little importance as long as the
coach, Ficcadenti, can find a winning formula.

Here is a look at the 2010-11 off-season calender for the Dynamo. Not all dates and events are
set in stone, but I'll be keeping you updated all through the winter on all these events.
First up, the Expansion Draft and the release of the Dynamo's protected list. I'll be
speculating on who the Dynamo might protect and who they could expose for potential selection by
the Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps.
With the MLS Expansion Draft set for Wednesday, we finally know which Houston Dynamo players
will be available for possible selection by either the Portland Timbers or the Vancouver
Whitecaps.

The Houston Dynamo left nine players unprotected for tomorrow's Expansion Draft and compared to
the past couple drafts, it's a fairly unsurprising list from top to bottom.
Since everyone's draft pants are exploding today, we might has well have a nice central location
for Dynamo fans (and anyone else for that matter) to discuss the picks and react should a Dynamo
