I have watched this 20 times and it's clear to me that a) Robin Van Persie puts in a poorly
timed (but not malicious) tackle and b) Emmanuel Adebayor deliberately stamped on the Arsenal
striker. Anyone think differently?

Here is what the Dutchman and Adebayor had to say about the incident after the game.
Former Arsenal man has no class whatsoever.
Emmanuel Adebayor has apologised for baiting Arsenal fans after scoring in Manchester
City's 4-2 win at Eastlands.
The former Gunners striker, who joined City in the summer, ran the length of the pitch to
celebrate in front of visiting fans, who reacted furiously.
He's a hard-working guy who wants the best for soccer, and I didn't handle the whole situation
very well at all. So I offer a complete and utter retraction and apology for not handling the
situation better and for calling him a no-talent hack. He could have been more thorough, but I
could have been less of a jerk.

Emmanuel Adebayor Manages to Muck Up Apology!
For as much verbal abuse referees must hear everyday of their lives (only a mild exaggeration)
and as inhumanly impervious they often seem, we can't forget that they too have their breaking
points.
Swiss fans maxed out referee Massimo Busacca's annoyance meter with their insults during cup
match between third division FC Baden and first division Young Boys on Saturday, causing Busacca to
give them a one finger salute during the match.
By CARL ELDRIDGE Roll up, roll up, read all about it. This morning's papers offer a decent
smattering of Arsenal stories ranging from the club's appeal on the Eduardo divegate scandal to
Arsene Wenger being hit with an FA warning. The Sun kicks off by telling us that
the Gunners have confirmed they will appeal against Eduardo's ban for diving.
"I am sad and disappointed by my former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor's mindless and malicious
stamp on me during today's match. "We are both professional footballers and I know that the game is
physical, I too have made hard and sometimes mis-timed challenges but never with the intention of
hurting an opponent.
"We are both professional footballers and I know that the game is physical, I too have made hard
and sometimes mis-timed challenges but never with the intention of hurting an opponent. He set out
to hurt me today.
"I do feel lucky that I have not suffered a greater injury. The contact was only centimetres from
my eye.
Howdy doody LadyArse lovers. It seems as though I may have a very tiny apology to make regarding
the standard of my blogging over the past number of weeks, maybe even months (this week aside). The
reason for this is that I have been thoroughly and utterly miserable in work, more so than is
normal.
Alan Hansen on Match of the Day gave credit to Fulham. And deservedly so. But at the same time
he took away credit from Arsenal. He said on another day Fulham would have won, but Stoke never
looked like winning against Utd. Which for me translates as Utd were solid, Arsenal by comparison
were weaker.
Arsenal's official website published the below interview given by Robin Van Persie after
yesterday's incident with Emmanuel Adebayor, with the Dutchman clearly upset with what
happened.
He said:
I am sad and disappointed by my former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor's mindless and malicious
stamp on me during today's match.
It was inevitable that the headlines this morning would be about Emmanuel Adebayor. However,
while many of us thought it'd be because he scored a goal (ex-Arsenal players always score, dontcha
know?), I doubt many of us thought Adebayor would sink to the depths he did yesterday.
I think the referees assessor needs to look very closely at Mark Clattenburg's performance
yesterday because he allowed Adebayor to get away with an extremely nasty foul on Cesc in the first
ten minutes.
Above is the photographic evidence of Adebayor's malice. As if there was any more reason needed
why he is not missed at Arsenal. Also, to make sure, he left because he was getting more money, so
to slag Arsenal fans for his move is pure projection. But that was not the extent of Ade's imprint
as he went after Cesc in the first half.
Arsenal's trip to Manchester City on Saturday was always likely to be a potential tinderbox.
City are the arrivistes, the newly-minted money and Arsenal are the team whose Champions League
place they are most likely to take. All of this if without taking Emmanuel Adebayor into account.
Adebayor's louche presence in the team was, to many Arsenal supporters, a key indicator of their
difficulties in front of goal last season.
I went to the game on Saturday and decided to post some thoughts on the game as a travelling
Gooner; there is only one place to start. Adebayor has now become the most hated figure amongst
Arsenal fans, even more so than Ashley Cole. When Adebayor turned towards the Arsenal fans before
his 90 yard gallop, he made himself enemy no.
Well deserved. There is also the improper conduct charge which is still pending. Adebayor did
not contest the violent conduct charge. He is expected to defend himself on the improper conduct
charge by putting the onus on the fans.
Cesc Fabregas also reveals that Adebayor gashed him on the calf.
It's a pity that Branko Culina's undignified, self-serving comments at Sunday's press conference
have served to obscure the fact that he does have a point. He developed that point somewhat
truculently in his "clarification" today, pausing for a moment to offer Vitezslav Lavicka a
well-deserved apology.
Eagles sorry for press release blunder Crystal Palace have issued an apology after dubbing
Championship rivals Preston a "Lancashite outfit" in a press release. The Eagles' press office were
so eager to tell the world they had signed Claude Davis from Derby County that they neglected to
check their press release for typos, and allowed an absolutely [.
.....because he was obviously dropped on his head as a baby.
I often wonder if over the years he has developed a form of dementia. He seems to be very very
deluded. I'm sorry if I offend anyone with dementia. Being compared with Adebayor may seem
insulting but it is the only way I can describe his ramblings, especially his attempt at an
apology.
This stinks all the way around...
Blackburn's El-Hadji Diouf claims that he was racially harrassed and heckled during the Rovers'
match with Everton on Sunday. Everton is demanding an apology from Diouf saying "That is a
wholly false allegation and I really would like him to retract that allegation and apologise to the
supporters and staff of this football club.
Stoke recently apologized to Blackpool striker Jason Euell for apparent racism at a Tuesday match.
The offender has since been arrested and faces a stadium ban.
Everton on the other hand took a different approach, and is demanding an apology from Blackburn's
El Hadji-Diouf for false accusations of racism.
