Monterrey después de haber sido Superlíder y haber jugado la Libertadores y estar participando en la Concachampions, paralelamente estaba jugando el Apertura 2010. Un torneo lleno de esperanzas, un torneo con ilusiones renovadas, un torneo en donde regresó Humberto Suazo y se veía un mucho mejor equipo que el del Bicentenario.
