Its great to see the USA has collected all nine points possible in World Cup qualifying so far with
a 3-0 win over Trinidad last night. What bothers me is not the quality of play (which my friend Bob
Wagman describes well here), its that only 11,452 fans showed up to watch the match in Bridgeview,
Illinois - and some were cheering for the Soca Warriors.
Why doesn't this surprise us?

The Crew is a solid playoff contender for the first time in years. The team began the season with a
franchise-best 6-1 start and is 8-5-3 as it prepares to play host to the Kansas City Wizards in a
nationally televised game tonight.
I think it would come as a surprise to many to know that West Ham, not Middlesbrough, not Aston
Villa, not any of the promoted clubs, had the highest average of English players in their starting
lineups (6.61/11) in the 2007-2008 Premiership season. That surprise serves as of a commonly-held
feeling towards West Ham from outside those associated with the club in one form or another:
apathy.

It's been a busy week for the Wizards, so this weekend provided a bit of a respite before this
week's game against Columbus. The friendly against Atlas AC was a 2-1 to the Wizards, although
because of the nature of the game the result wasn't important - it was a chance for a partner club
to get a preseason run out, plus a match for reserves to play in.
