At half-time at the Manchester United Liverpool game on Sunday, Aon (United's new shirt
sponsors) will be hosting a charity event on the pitch.
Five children from the Manchester United Soccer Schools will each take one shot at a goal from a
place on the pitch between the penalty spot and the six-yard box (there will be a hole in the "o"
in an Aon banner at the East stand goal for them to shoot through).
If you're one of those who still regularly attends United home games then you will have almost
certainly have already heard about "Old Shirts Day". So what's it all about then? Well, it's quite
simple. The idea is fans can show their support for the anti Glazer campaign by donning your pre
AIG, AON, United shirts in protest against the debt laden regime.
Manchester United's new shirt sponsors, Aon, will be hosting a charity event at half-time this
weekend against Liverpool. There will be an Aon sign in front of the goal with a hole in place of
the 'O'. Kids from United's soccer school will get a chance to score and £2k will be donated to
the Manchester United Foundation for every goal scored.
Manchester United vs Liverpool. Aon vs Standard Chartered. Nike vs Adidas. The warm, sticky
smell of testosterone and hubris hangs large in the air this afternoon for this match, but all is
not well at either Old Trafford or Anfield. Manchester United are still unbeaten since the start of
the season, but they are a curiously unsatisfactory team this season so far.
