2010-11 Recap In their first season back in Serie A since 1990, the belief was the Seahorses would
only enjoy their stay in the top flight for all of 38 games. After three weeks in, Cesena were the
darlings of Serie A, sitting atop the table alongside Inter. The experience at the top didn't last
for long and the club became embattled in the relegation race late in the season.
It may not seem so now, but Parma was once a major protagonist in Italian football. After
financial turmoil and relegation a short few years ago, it may seem that the club is a far cry from
the likes of Inter and Milan, but the truth is quite the opposite. As recently as 2002 the side won
the Coppa Italia as well as the UEFA Cup: two competitions in which Parma were regulars in between
the late.
A single moment of brilliance proved the difference-maker in Sunday's clash between Bologna and
Cesena. The early-season relegation battle looked to be heading for a 0-0 until Marco Parolo's
goal-of-the-season contender stunned the Dall'Ara crowd in the 84th minute. Hosts Bologna went in
as favourites thanks to a good run of form under new coach Stefano Pioli.
