Anton Ferdinand makes an Arse(nal player) of himself Yesterday, I was busy hastily converting the
new OTP HQ into an exact replica of Stephen Ireland's mansion. If I hadn't have been, I would
instead have been bringing you this long-range comedy goal from Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas. A
Ferdinand brother dilly-dallying on the ball.
Fabio Capello has to sit through a lot of football matches before he decides who to pick for
England. But the Italian manager could save himself a lot of trouble if he just played the
Soccerlens Fantasy Football Game instead. I've looked at the stats, and picked an England team
according to which English players have averaged the most points per game during the first three
weeks of the Soccerlens Fantasy Football Game.
The Stadium of Light, there's a misnomer. Anyone who has had the misfortune to travel to
Sunderland away knows the drab, watery light that emanates from the cold North Sea and washes over
the industrial wasteland that is Sunderland. They will also know how we struggled at TSOL last
season, despite having 90% of the possession we got beaten by a late Darren Bent goal (plus ca
change, plus c'est la meme chose).
That game was many things, but uneventful wasn't one of them.
Before I get into all the individual incidents, I'll just say that all things considered, this
was a fair result. Yes, Phil Dowd screwed us not once but twice: (1) Song should not have been sent
off, and (2) the whistle maybe should have gone when the corner was cleared.
I know this morning there'll be a lot of folk still unhappy that the goal came in the 15th
second of the 5th minute of injury time despite on 4 being signalled. There'll be folks unhappy at
Phil Dowd for the sending off of Alex Song.
Pfff, I'm afraid we're going to to just have to live with stuff like that because it happens in
almost every game to almost every team.

Cesc Fabregas demonstrates his excellent first touch
Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand has admitted that he is 'embarrassed' about
the goal his side conceded to Arsenal on Saturday, branding Cesc Fabregas'
fortuitous strike a 'freak goal'.

Back to the drawing board. Asamoah Gyan Doubtful For Liverpool Clash | Football/Soccer |
Peacefmonline.com Asamoah Gyan is a doubt for their English Premier League trip to Liverpool this
Saturday. Gyan scored on Tuesday night in the Black Cats 1-2 home defeat to West Ham to crash out
of the Carling Cup but limped out on the hour mark.
Two questions for you, a soccer aficionado. What do the following sets of players have in
common?
- First set: Salomon Kalou, Gael Kakuta, Yossi Benayoun, Asamoah Gyan, Kieran
Richardson, Anton Ferdinand and Kieran Gibbs.
- Second set: Mendoza Marcos Alonso, Moreno Machado Rodrigo, Jan Mucha, Magaye
Gueye, Ben Mee, Javan Vidal, John Guidetti, Jake Livermore, Steven Caulker, Thomas Ince, Nathan
Eccleston, Jonjo Shelvey, Patrick van Aanholt and Jeffrey Bruma.
