Sunderland have been a bit of a bete noire for Fulham at the Cottage in recent years. A 3-1 loss
in 2008 was the moment I gave up hope ahead of the miracle of the Great Escape. The following
season a 0-0 draw was one of the worst performances seen under Roy. Today was no classic but I
found it an engaging game with moments of great effort and endeavour indispersed with moments of
comedic failure.
This is a fixture that always makes me nervous. I have pretty good reason as well, recent
history goes very much against us. Darren Best alone has scored 4 goals in the past two games
against us, as a team Sunderland have put 9 past us in the last 10 Premiership games against us.

games.
The Premiership got back on track and if Arsenal were hoping that the Black Cats would prove
spoilers, then they were in for a rude shock. Steve Bruce's side looked like their Xmas lunch was

half dozen or more easily.

at the start of the day, [.
Dominant, commanding, adventurous and ever so slightly easy. It has been a while since a
Manchester United display could be described in such a manner, but the 2-0 victory over Sunderland
at Old Trafford could be detailed in no other way.
It was the Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov who got the festive schedule underway early on after
latching onto the end of a delicately lofted Wayne Rooney cross, to head home at the far post.
