Well, we all (If we were able), got out our superglue and sat in front of Sky Sports News for
many a long, long hour. Never, in the history of my life, has so much time been wasted on so much
shite.
At 16.41 the best thing they could find to get excited about was a potential loan/swap between
the Spuds and Sunderland involving Alan Hutton and Anton Ferdinand.
I feel like Mr Pink after the dust settles in that brief, but oh-so-memorable shoot-out. I'll
just tip-toe around the bloody mess, pick up the case full of loot and hot-foot it out of here.
The bloody mess is Bentley to Man City, Petrov the other way, David James splattered all over
the place, and even Anton Ferdinand, sitting lifelessly on a chair minus an ear.
Is Harry looking to sign another of his former players?
Telegraph Sport can reveal that Spurs are trying to sign Anton Ferdinand from
Sunderland.
The 24-year-old central defender has been tracked by Spurs for some time – they attempted to sign
him when he was at West Ham – but he chose to move to Sunderland for £8 million.
The lunchtime kickoff match was as good as advertised. Both teams came into the match with
something to prove. Burnley had won eight straight matches at Turf Moor dating back to last season.
Sunderland, meanwhile, had only scored two goals in their last nine away matches
in the Premier League.
Thanks to all those who had followed The Flat Back Four on Twitter today. To say that we had a
great time chatting and tweet-ing about possible transfer moves would be stretching it a bit. In
fact, it was quite the opposite. When the expectation and hype gets built up so much and all we get
is a £12m Michael Turner switch from Hull City to Sunderland, then it's time we face the facts and
realise that this is as good as it gets in the Barclays Premier League this season.
Unlike last year, when summer transfer deadline day saw some records broken and millions upon
millions of pounds change hands, things were a lot quieter this time around.
But as always, it's just as much about who didn't move as it is about who did move, and there
were plenty of misses to go with the hits.
Solid answer to a problematic area?

Having failed to complete a last gasp deal to bring former West Ham man Anton Ferdinand Harry
Redknapp may try a lot harder to make the Sunderland centre back a Tottenham man come January, not
least because his defence is once again decimated by injuries.
Man, this daily feature has been running for a while:
- Babel denies wanting Liverpool exit.
- Barca prez demands Puyol and Marquez accept new deals.
- Nugent wants a permanent stay at Burnley.
- Deportivo after Dos Santos?
- Ronaldinho to retire? What?
The solution to the above question is simple. You sign his Croatian counterpart Niko Kranjcar.
On a strangely quiet transfer deadline day, the usual unfounded Tottenham rumours abounded:
Hutton's leaving. Bale's leaving. We're signing a second rate centre back (Anton Ferdinand, in this
case).
