When the final whistle went and those West Ham fans who'd spent most of Saturdays game against
Chelsea abusing former old boys, Frank Lampard and John Terry, had disappeared to the pubs around
and about, I bet they never thought they'd ever see either player back at Upton Park that soon.
Obviously they were unaware that both players have agreed in principle to play for West Ham in a
testimonial match for the Hammers' academy director, Tony Carr as a celebration of his 36 years
working for West Ham.
Part two of my under-rated players list features some smaller names who have been in the league for
some time now. All four men are talented and hard working, but often don't get enough credit or are
over criticized. 16. Gary O'Neil Midfielder, Middlesbrough, England Gary O'Neil made history for
Portsmouth back in 2000, becoming the club's youngest ever player at just 16 years old.
Manchester United needed an injury time own goal from Anton Ferdinand to rescue a point against
Sunderland. Two weeks after Michael Owen goal against Manchester City, Ferdinand could not get out

I watched Ferdinand's stoppage time own goal with a distinct sense of déj vu. The lucky Devils
once again scored a late goal to eke out a 2-2 draw against Sunderland.Berbatov's spectacular
overhead kick goal was probably the only bright spot in United's game. His wonder goal had at least
breathe some life into the anaemic attack.
It's been a tough 12 months for the boys at Upton Park. A row between the board and manager over
the sales of Anton Ferdinand and George McCartney to Sunderland lead to the resignation of Alan
Curbishley. That was followed by major sponsors 'XL' going bust, and then an ex-Chelsea player
taking over as manager.
How do this pair sleep at night?
Take a look around at the teams forking out big money in this transfer window, and then take a
look at whats going on at Anfield. Then ask yourselves, why is this happening?
In case you didn't know, Tom Hicks and George Gillett bought Liverpool with loans and debts.
Well, we all (If we were able), got out our superglue and sat in front of Sky Sports News for
many a long, long hour. Never, in the history of my life, has so much time been wasted on so much
shite.
At 16.41 the best thing they could find to get excited about was a potential loan/swap between
the Spuds and Sunderland involving Alan Hutton and Anton Ferdinand.
Anton Ferdinand, Rio's younger brother, will be cursing himself as his own goal on the 92nd minute
gifted Manchester United an undeserving equalizer and a share of the points in the process, as the
Black Cats of Sunderland played more superior football than their counterparts in red, and in truth
deserved to take all 3 [.
I know, I know, it sounds silly. Anton Ferdinand puts in an own goal and gives Manchester
United a draw (which allows them to stay atop the EPL rankings) and that somehow exhibits Man U's
power? It does. Let me show you.
Remember, I'm writing from an American Sports perspective.
Steve Bruce can rest easy coaching Sunderland because the club that he grew up worshiping is no
longer in the Premiership. There will be no matches with Newcastle and its fans who will call Bruce
out. What about the suspicions that Black Cat fans may have?
"I think they like one of their own from the north east," .
I feel like Mr Pink after the dust settles in that brief, but oh-so-memorable shoot-out. I'll
just tip-toe around the bloody mess, pick up the case full of loot and hot-foot it out of here.
The bloody mess is Bentley to Man City, Petrov the other way, David James splattered all over
the place, and even Anton Ferdinand, sitting lifelessly on a chair minus an ear.

Ok I give up, I can't find one.
I've tried to find a football fan that has a strong disliking for Gianfranco Zola and failed
miserably – the guy is just too darn nice!
Even those who aren't fond of Chelsea – the club he played for so successfully - can't help
but respect and admire not just his skills as a footballer but his attitude and professionalism
both on and off the field.
Ruud van Nistelrooy - While I've always been keen to hurl down some funky
shapes on the boogie floors of London's finer night-spots on a booze-fuelled Saturday night, I've
been honest enough to admit that I'm not a natural on the dance-floor. No, really. But by golly if
I were, I would have danced an impromptu jig of delight at the news that we're sniffing at Ruud van
Nistelrooy.
Sunderland Biggest Ins: Paulo Da Silva is a very good center back and will be a key piece to
Sunderland's defense. Fraizer Campbell and Darren Bent will add to what was a very incompetent
attack. Lorik Cana is a much better player than Dean...

Is Harry looking to sign another of his former players?
Telegraph Sport can reveal that Spurs are trying to sign Anton Ferdinand from
Sunderland.
The 24-year-old central defender has been tracked by Spurs for some time – they attempted to sign
him when he was at West Ham – but he chose to move to Sunderland for £8 million.
The lunchtime kickoff match was as good as advertised. Both teams came into the match with
something to prove. Burnley had won eight straight matches at Turf Moor dating back to last season.
Sunderland, meanwhile, had only scored two goals in their last nine away matches
in the Premier League.
In what could be the most obvious Wednesday Wonder to date, Robbie Keane is this week's pick
after his stunning performance on Saturday against Burnley. I'll admit that I've overlooked a
hat-trick for the Wednesday Wonder before and picked somebody else, but there is something special
about that fourth goal.
Defending English Premier League Champions Manchester United struggled on Saturday against
Sunderland as they could only manage a 2-2 draw. Here's a recap of the match along with video
highlights.
Manchester United draws with Sunderland 2-2 Video Highlights
Manchester United did not come out strong and Sunderland would take advantage.
.Manchester United continued to get results in the final moments of the game, as they overcame an
inspired Sunderland unit to end the game 2-2 at Old Trafford. After a flawless game for Anton
Ferdinand, the Black Cat Man was involved in an own goal when he deflected Patrice Evra's
off-target shot into his own net.
It was a cool and rainy weekend where I live, which set the tone nicely for watching a lot of
Premier League football. Not that I need an excuse to watch matches, but when there is no reason to
go outside, it just makes it that much easier to bunker down and ignore the world.
When the final whistle blew at Goodison, my first reaction to Everton's 1-1 draw with Stoke was
frustration.
Alex Ferguson has issued an apology over comments made about Alan Wiley's fitness following
United's disappointing 2-2 draw with Sunderland.
United salvaged a point from the match thanks to an injury time own goal from Anton Ferdinand
but rather than point the spotlight at his own players, Ferguson let rip at Alan Wiley claiming he
was ‘unfit' and questioned the referee's timekeeping.
Paraguay captain Paulo da Silva has been enticed to the sole-surviving Premier League
representative of the north-east region of England to join Sunderland on a free transfer after his
contract with Deportivo Toluca expired.
Following a previous arrival of Manchester United striker Fraizer Campbell in the shape of £3.
Thanks to all those who had followed The Flat Back Four on Twitter today. To say that we had a
great time chatting and tweet-ing about possible transfer moves would be stretching it a bit. In
fact, it was quite the opposite. When the expectation and hype gets built up so much and all we get
is a £12m Michael Turner switch from Hull City to Sunderland, then it's time we face the facts and
realise that this is as good as it gets in the Barclays Premier League this season.
Unlike last year, when summer transfer deadline day saw some records broken and millions upon
millions of pounds change hands, things were a lot quieter this time around.
But as always, it's just as much about who didn't move as it is about who did move, and there
were plenty of misses to go with the hits.
Solid answer to a problematic area?

Having failed to complete a last gasp deal to bring former West Ham man Anton Ferdinand Harry
Redknapp may try a lot harder to make the Sunderland centre back a Tottenham man come January, not
least because his defence is once again decimated by injuries.
Man, this daily feature has been running for a while:
- Babel denies wanting Liverpool exit.
- Barca prez demands Puyol and Marquez accept new deals.
- Nugent wants a permanent stay at Burnley.
- Deportivo after Dos Santos?
- Ronaldinho to retire? What?
With Chelsea playing Liverpool tomorrow, this was an ideal chance to get a leap forward on both of
our biggest title rivals....At the end it was not to be. And to be completely honest we were

After a slip last week against Wigan, it didn't take long for the Blues to regain the Premiership
lead. Didier Drogba turned from goalscorer to playmaker and Chelsea handed Liverpool a 2-0 defeat,
the Reds third loss of the season.
The reason Carlo Ancelotti's team isn't in a tie for first is because Manchester United laid a
stinker at home against Sunderland, but managed a 2-2 draw thanks to Anton Ferdinand's (right)
last-gasp own goal.

The highly anticipated clash of Chelsea and Liverpool turned out to be somewhat of a letdown
Saturday, as Chelsea's defense reigned supreme. Even without Petr Cech, the Blues kept Steven
Gerrard and Fernando Torres in check all afternoon. John Terry made sure his English counterpart
had no sight of goal all afternoon, all the while ensuring Torres couldn't get a shot off.
Patience is a virtue, and for two of the Premier League's best players, that patience has
finally paid off. The crazy thing about it all? These two players are on the same team! And the
lucky team is Sunderland.
It was just last season that Sunderland were in the heat of the relegation battle.

Manchester United play host to Bolton at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Saturday 17
October 2009. United have Rooney and Owen out to injury but Edwin van der Sar and Rio Ferdinand
should return to the starting lineup, although Hargreaves is still a month away.
Darren Bent staked a further claim for a place in England's World Cup squad as Sunderland heaped
further misery on Liverpool.
However, he did so in controversial circumstances as the visitors were left fuming over the
fifth-minute strike which secured the Black Cats' first victory over a 'top four' team since their
return to the Barclays Premier League.
Sir Alex Ferguson was charged by the FA for claiming that visibly overweight referee Alan Wiley
wasn't fit enough. After Wiley took an unusually large amount of time to book Anton Ferdinand in
the second half, our manager accused Wiley of needing this time to take a rest.
Ferguson apologised personally to Wiley but was asked by the FA to explain himself before they
charged him.
Interesting story in Bild recently, suggesting that Fabio Capello has been asking Stuart Pearce
to keep an eye on Werder Bremen's 23 year old attacking mid/forward Aaron Hunt, who you can see
above scoring twice for Werder Bremen (in white) this weekend. The second goal (which tied the game
at 2-2) is an absolute cracker of a chest-volley combo.

Steve Bruce wants to get rid of Anton Ferdinand, with 'Arry Redknapp keen to launch £6m
rescue bid". Bruce said: "I don't want a huge squad" (Guardian)
Quite why we would make a move for the former West Ham man is beyond me and I hope to high
heaven it doesn't happen.
According to the Daily Mail, Sunderland and Tottenham are
considering swapping defender Anton Ferdinand for defender Alan
Hutton.
