In 1957, at a time when FIFA still refused to let African teams participate in the World Cup, the
Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) - Africa's international football governing body set up
the first ever African Cup of Nations. The competition was held in Sudan and involved just four
participants - Egypt, Ethiopia, South Africa and Sudan, later reduced to three as South Africa were
disqualified for the government's apartheid politics.
For those that thought that Seattle was running a 4-4-2, it was Steve Zakuani that they found
the most frustrating. Even if you thought that they ran the diamond midfield, Zakuani frustrated.
Most of the frustration was centered on his lack of defensive efforts. Later the frustrations would
focus on his lack of "finishing" skill.
The confidence and brashness that was felt heading into tomorrow's game has no doubt been checked a
little since the weekend - obviously because of contrasting results for ourselves and United, but
also I'm sure because derbies rarely illicit a feeling of over-confidence as kick-off
approaches.
There was much debate after the postponement as to whether the initial game being called off worked
in our favour.
After months of anticipation, the Australia Wallabies 2010/12 KooGa home rugby jersey has been
unveiled! The "technologically advanced" Wallabies kit – with materials including carbon fibre
and hydrosteel used in the manufacturing process – is the first in a four-year deal between
Australian Rugby Union and KooGa that runs until 2013.
The next four games are the most convoluted set of fixtures I can recall since err Hull's
earlier this year. They played Villa, Chelski, us and United twice in 5 consecutive games or
something like that. If only we could play Hull in our next few games and replay The Old Trafford
game, I'd take it without a second thought.
