Just a week after looking like he would be playing in Turkey, Heath Pearce is headed to MLS to
play for a turkey of a team.
On Tuesday night in Midland, FC Dallas eased past PDL-side West Texas United Sockers 2-0 before
3,751 at Grande Communications stadium on second half goals from Anthony Wallace and Andre Rocha.
Behind the players, General Manager Michael Hitchcock and Coach Hyndman stood, smiling and greeting
anyone, including myself, who simply wanted to say hello.

Midfielders Mikkel Diskerud and Dilly Duka and forwards Brek Shea and Tony Taylor headline the
21-man roster selected to represent the United States at the Under-20 World Cup in Egypt next
month.
As feared, FCD has been dealt a blow to whatever slim chances remained for this season with the
call up of five players for the US U20s. While only two are starters, Brek Shea and Kyle Davies,
the loss of Josh Lambo, Anthony Wallace, and Peri Marosevic, will decimate the depth of the team
leaving a very thin margin for injuries and tactical substitutions.
Unlike the senior team, Coach Rongen is announcing his roster almost a month before the first match
of the U-20 World Cup. Yup, kick off for the Americans in this youth World Cup is September
25th.

I've highlighted the college players in the above list.
CHICAGO (Aug. 28, 2009) U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Thomas Rongen has finalized
the 21-player roster that will represent the United States at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup from
Sept. 24-Oct. 16 in Egypt. The roster features a blend of professional and collegiate players,
including two players with prior U-20 World Cup experience in UCLA goalkeeper Brian Perk and FC
Dallas defender Anthony Wallace.
I won't come as a shock to anyone who has been following the US U20 team preparations for the
CONCACAF U20 Championships, but four FC Dallas players have been named by coach Thomas Rongen to
his final team. Brek Shea, Peri Marosevic, Josh Lambo, and Anthony Wallace will be leaving FCD to
join up with the U20s.

are also busy in the coming weeks.
Thomas Rongen has called another 10 day camp for the US U20s and Josh Lambo and Anthony Wallace
have been recalled. Based on the roster this came is taking a look at a few players who haven't
been available previously and perhaps a few fringe names.

The Philadelphia Union is just hours away from having its first set of players and Philly fans
will soon have names to put on the jerseys they are ordering in bunches.
We ran our SBI Mock Expansion Draft on Tuesday, but several readers have asked which ten
players I would take if I were running Philadelphia's expansion draft.
Anthony Wallace, who grew up in St. Petersburg, scored the opener for FC Dallas in a 2-0 friendly
over West Texas United of the PDL. Wallace, a defender/midfielder scored in the 57th minute in
front of a crowd of 3,751. The goal was no doubt a confidence builder for a player who has featured
in just seven league matches (out of sixteen) with no goals or assists so far this season.

Who will Dallas protect this year? (Getty Images)
With the expansion draft being next week I have to pull in some two-a-days for my expansion
draft lists. Earlier today we looked at DC United's roster and who could be protected or not not
this afternoon I want to turn our attention to FC Dallas.
No Michael Chabala. No James Riley. No Amado Guevara. No Bobby Convey. No Matt Besler. No Anthony
Wallace. Did anybody predict this? The emphasis was on youth this time around and not one
Philly native made his way onto Coach Nowak's roster. Venezuelan international Alejandro
Moreno, hitherto in the services of the Columbus Crew, was one of few big names to make
Philly's list.

The U.S. men's national team is preparing for a busy summer, but the U.S. youth national teams
are also busy in the coming weeks.
On our way to catch the most highly anticipated Showcase match of the weekend with the U-20 MNT
squaring off against Costa Rica. Here's the starting U.S. lineup:
GK: Brian Perk
D: Kyle Davies, Anthony Wallace, Sheanon Williams, Ike Opara
M: Gerson Mayen, Dilly Duka, Jared Jeffrey, Fuad Ibrahim, Jorge Flores
F: Peri Marosevic
Back after the match with a recap and photos!
July 14, 2007 - St. Petersburg native Anthony Wallace is ejected in the 104th minute, as the USA
crashes out of the FIFA U20 World Cup in Canada. The 2-1 loss to Austria in the quarterfinals went
into extra time after being knotted at 1-1 after 90 minutes. Jozy Altidore's goal put the USA ahead
in the first half, but the Americans were not able to finish off the match.
USA U20 coach Thomas Rongen has selected his squad for the upcoming U20 World Cup in Egypt and St
Petersburg product Anthony Wallace [pictured right for FC Dallas] is among his selections.
Wallace, who plays in the midfield, enrolled at USF after high school and played just one season
with the Bulls.
Anthony Wallace re-aggravated his knee injury and has been replaced on the US roster.
I've asked around and word is trickeling out from people close to the team that FC Dallas will
re-acquire Steve Purdy just prior to today's roter freeze deadline to replace Anthony Wallace.
Wallace has re-agrivated his knee and has a torn meniscus, which saw him dropepd from the US U20
team. Wallace will now be placed on season ending injured reserve by FCD which will make room for
Purdy's return.
Defender Steve Purdy is once again a member of FC Dallas. Purdy joined the club in January, but was
waived last week. The club made the move after announcing defender Anthony Wallace has been placed
on the Disabled List with a season-ending knee injury. Wallace's injury will keep him out of the
FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
A left knee injury suffered while playing for FC Dallas will keep St Petersburg native and former
USF Bull, Anthony Wallace, from playing in his second U20 World Cup later this month.
Wallace [above, in action for the USA in the last U20 World Cup] played in the 2007 U20 World Cup
when the USA made it to the quarterfinals.
In 2002, 2005, and 2006 Colorado traveled to Dallas and knocked them out of the playoffs (In 1997
we knocked Dallas out in Colorado). In 2009 Dallas faces a must win game at home to Colorado to
keep their playoff hopes alive, while Colorado has a chance to clinch a playoff berth with a win.
While not an actual playoff game, its essentially a do or die game.
3-1 loss at home to the Houston Dynamo sends that dumb cannon back south. FC Dallas looked
dangerous at times but couldn't finish if their lives depended on it. Time for the best of the
reader comments...Sunday edition. I think this could be a fertile ground for great comments so I'll
add new comments all week as long as they come in.

Here's the local schedule so you can watch the four FCD kids in action.
Talking with Josh over at thecup.us about the U-20 World Cup, and how many freaking college kids
the US is fielding. Here's a comparison of club affiliations of a few teams in the tournament.
Spoiler on today's game at the bottom.
GERMANY:
Goalkeepers: Manchester United, Hamburg, Bremen.
I've spent the last hour or so updating the Wikipedia page, so check that out:

The MLS press release has some errors on the Generation Adidas graduates. However, it appears that
all of the following players have graduated:
Alston, Kevin
Beltran, Tony
Gonzalez, Omar
Hall, Jeremy
Igwe, Amaechi
Nyarko, Patrick
Seitz, Chris
Wallace, Anthony
Wallace, Rodney
Zakuani, Steve
Zayner, Jed
I've confirmed this based on protected lists and team press releases (all except for Zayner, who's
certainly not gonna get a 5th year).
