In no particular order:
- Has Landycakes been hitting the gym? I don't ever recall him shrugging off so many tackles and
shoves without going down. He must have made at least 3-5 strong runs with the ball where he
suffered two or more fouls and kept on truckin'. That is the Kissypants we need going forward for
the US. Forget the falling over and leaving it to the ref to make a decision.
Last night Jamie Moreno scored his 109th career MLS goal as DC United took down the New York Red
Bulls 3-1. This moved him past current Real Salt Lake head coach Jason Kries for the most career
MLS goals. Ante Razov is up there over the 100 mark and either of these guys could add a lot more
to that total.
Who do you think will retire with the goal scoring crown, and how high will that tally be by
that time?
Some random thoughts from last night's less-than-stirring goal-less encounter between Chivas and
Dallas.
- The forward pairing of Merlin-Cunliffe doesn't inspire the same sort of fear in defenses that
Galindo-Razov do. Losing Razov for 4-6 weeks might just have doomed Chivas' chance at MLS Cup and
the Supporters' Shield. The Goats seem to have the same problem that DC United are afflicted
with--after the top two strikers, the drop-off in quality to the numbers three and four is
immense.
Ante Razov's devastating knee injury Thursday Night leave DC United as the only fully healthy,
hitting on all cylinders club entering the MLS post season. Chivas USA's depth has been questioned
much of the season, but Preki's club had been able to continue to chase the Supporters Shield
largely due to the consistency of the starting XI which faced little in the way of injuries.
Chivas USA Record (W-L-T): 15-7-8; 46 GF, 28 GA Source Material: Schedule/match reports; roster
(whoa...updated already) Overview It can't possibly be so simple, can it? Surely, the reasons for
Chivas USA's first-round exit from the playoffs don't begin and end with the absence of starting
forwards Maykel Galindo and Ante Razov.
Hell hath no fury like a Razov scorned! Or something like that. Remember that abortion of a season
that Ante split between Columbus and the Meadowlands? Remember how Arena constantly snubbed him for
the national team? He certainly does, and he took it out on both the Meadowlands and Arena last
night, scoring one goal and setting up the other in Chivas' 2-0 win.
Last night, for the first time in my time as a Major League Soccer (MLS) fan, I pulled for the Los
Angeles Galaxy. I couldn't help myself, not with them dragging desperately around the pitch like a
three-legged dog. I pulled, especially, for Landon Donovan and Abel Xavier, who, together, seemed
to be [...]
Chivas take a 3-0 victory over the LA Galaxy tonite to move into first place in the west.
At times the Galaxy made it look like a game. They had chances but just couldn't finish
them.
Ante Razov moved one goal closer to Jamie Moreno and his MLS career goal tally as he notched the
game winning goal in the first half. That was enough to get him the man of the match award.
For all the hype around Major League Soccer regarding Jaime Moreno's quest to become the leading
goal scorer in league history his record is likely to be very short lived. Moreno finally broke
Jason Kreis all time scoring mark just over a month ago but now very quietly Ante Razov has closed
to within one goal of Moreno's current mark of 110.

I have to post the Daily Sweeper early, so's I can go into hiding from the soccer world, thus
leaving open the possibility of watching the U.S. v. Switzerland on tape-delay. * I have some kind
of psychological resistance/distaste for the word "playoffs." Moving on... - Though I'm posting
MLSnet.com's useful enumeration of the varying alternate realities-to-be that [.
