If World Cup qualifying ended today, prominent African footballing countries Cameroon, Nigeria, and
Egypt would miss the World Cup, making this week's qualifiers critical for each nation. But in a
tournament where twenty teams are divided into five groups of four (meaning only six matches will
decide if you are the one nation from your group which will represent that continent in South
Africa) every match is critical.
What did UE Engordany of Andorra, FK Milano Kumanovo of Macedonia, Ankaraspor of Turkey and
Grenoble of France had in common before last Sunday? They were all teams from European top
divisions, who hadn't picked up a single point so far this season. And yes, there actually is a
football league in Andorra.
BESIKTAS 1 -2 ANKARASPOR
After winning the first match 3-1 in Ankara Besiktas qualified for the finals in Fortis Turkish Cup
despite a 2-1 defeat at home . Ankaraspor went for the victory from the start. A twenty-two minutes

First bad news came from Sivas..
Istanbul Buyuksehir scored two goals in seventeen minutes and Sivasspor fans were stunned! And
Sivasspor lost the match 2-1 at the end of the ninety minutes.
It is the last Tango in the Turkish Turkcell Super League and It's the Championship Saturday
too.
Turkcell Super League Leader Besiktas could clinch the title with a away win or a draw in
Denizli.
Denizlispor who is safe by only goal average, would want to get at least a point from Besiktas to
reach 39 points mark.

Football Association. Ankaraspor board agreed a merger with Ankaragucu during the season, which was
found dubious by the federation.

Turkcell Super League Review...
Besiktas is one step closer heading into the final weekend of the Turkish Turkcell Super League
season with a two-point lead after they beat Galatasaray 2-1.
Yusuf Simsek scored a valuable winner for his side on the hour mark after Australia international
Harry Kewell (49) had canceled out a Deivson Bobo strike four minutes before half-time.
Reports coming out of Turkey suggest that former Norwich City striker Ian Henderson has joined
Turkish Süper Lig side Ankaragücü. It means it is the second English player the Turkish side
have signed in recent days, following the arrival of former Aston Villa and Manchester City striker
Darius Vassell at the club.
Mustafa Denizli's Besiktas did it this year. After a six-year wait, the club won both the league
and Turkish cup.

Mustafa Denizli must feel like the weight of the whole world is on his shoulders. After
coming in at the beginning of the second half of last season, he would turn around the fortunes of
Beşiktaş by accomplishing the double of the Turkish Cup and Turkcell Super League title. The
league title would make Denizli the only manager in the history of Turkish 1st division football to
win league titles with each of the big three Istanbul clubs.
(Note: I had originally published this when it originally happened. I wanted to get the full
scope of it. There is an addendum at the bottom of the original article in italics)
