Real Madrid have put pen to paper on a €40 million deal for Benfica winger Angel di
Maria, according to radio station TSF.
I think José Mourinho will go over to history as the greatest coach that ever lived. What he
already achieved in FC Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan far exceed what most coaches achieve (and
note, as a true global 21st century football legioneer, he has done it in now four different
countries!), but what he is doing in Real Madrid is also impressive.

Aside from determining a champion, a major subplot of the World Cup finals is the emergence of
world-class young talent. Players stepping out of the shadows on this stage tend to earn
themselves enormous contracts as the biggest club's in Europe look to gain in quality and
notoriety by snapping up those players who make their mark on the world stage.
In the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup, Sevilla defeated Barcelona 3-1 at home, and there was
hope that someone besides Real Madrid would be able to challenge the Catalan giants this season.
However, in today's second leg, Sevilla were mere spectators to a spectacular Barcelona side. Xavi
and Iniesta, the architects of Spain's World Cup triumph were outstanding, and with three goals

The Germans' deflected equaliser and subsequent injury time winner may seem cruel on paper but
were just rewards for keeping Edwin Van der Sar busy throughout the ninety minutes.

The first El Clasico of the season will be played at the Camp Nou and is one of the
most anticipated clashes between Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent years. Twenty two of the
world's most established footballers will be playing and entertaining tonight, including several
World Cup champions and the last 2 Fifa Award winners.

In terms of playing on a global stage nothing can beat the world cup. For young players
this is a chance to prove that they have international staying power.Who would Michael Owen be if
he hadn't have scored ‘that goal' at WC 98?..Yeah a nobody.

Diego Maradona and the Argentinian national team arrived at Pretoria very early ahead of the World
Cup 2010. Clearly he has learned a thing or two about high altitude acclimatisation from that
horrible 6-1 Bolivia bruising back in May 2009. Argentina will be my pick to lift the World Cup in
South Africa.

Full to the gills with striking talent, Argentina appears the clear favorite to advance out of
Group B. The second spot is up for much debate. Greek will park the bus and try to stalemate
opponents into submission but Nigeria boasts both speed and size to trouble the Greek defenses.

The World Cup is, quite simply, the biggest shop window in football. A great chance to see a whole
host of unknown players performing on the biggest stage of all, it is the perfect way to judge
whether they have got what it takes to shine under pressure, and Premier League managers will be
out in South Africa in force even as you read this.

Real Madrid have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Benfica over the transfer
of Argentina winger Angel di Maria.
Argentine starlet Angel Di Maria has finally been confirmed as a Real Madrid player following a
successful medical in the Spanish capital. Los Blancos, who finished runners-up to
Barcelona in a disappoing last season, should certainly benefit from the services of the highly
sought-after Argentine as they build actively for success under the leadership of treble-winning
Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho.

With Trap still laid up in hospital, Angel Di Maria, newly signed by Real Madrid, scored the
only goal of a less-than-thrilling friendly at the Aviva in Dublin. He was offside, blatantly, but
the goal stood (what do they say about the Irish and luck not in football), thereby marring the
occasion of Robbie Keane's 100th cap for Ireland.

Not a bad way to score your first La Liga goal Di Maria! The Argentinian

Auxerre 0 - 1 Real Madrid (Highlights)(0-1) 81' Di Maria
Real Madrid left it late to secure a win in Auxerre which leaves them on course to qualify for the
knock-out stages of the
Champions League. Yet all those question marks that have
been hanging over Mourinhos men remain as they produced another misfiring performance in the Stade
de l'Abbé-Deschamps.
The first year of the post-Manuel Pellegrini era commenced with a startling thud, as through
seven rounds last season, Villarreal propped every other Primera División team up at the bottom of
the table. This smooth, plucky team from the Valencian Community had not felt such futility since
they made their maiden voyage to La Liga in the 1998/99 season.
Eduardo Iturralde González (!) will officiate El Clásico on Monday night.
The José Mourinho - Pep Guardiola headline and the Lionel Messi - Cristiano Ronaldo headline

these subjects and focus on the other, less talked about aspects of the biggest game in Spanish
football this season.
