Cappa returning to Argentine football.
Angel Cappa will be the new River manager.
Cappa made the announcement on his blog.
pasó a Juan Sebastián Verón y Angel Cappa.
River President Daniel Passarella spoke to the media today and talked about Astrada's
firing and the hiring of Angel Cappa.
Buenos Aires, Argentina – April 14th 2010
After Sunday's scoreless tie against Atletico Tucuman, team which stands in the last place of the
Argentine league with 6 points and will most likely end relegated, Leonardo Astrada was removed
from the position of head coach of the first team.
Angel Cappa in his first training session as River manager.
This will most likely be the headline of some of the most important newspapers in the morning.
Angel Cappa made his official debut in El Monumental with a victory. The goals: Ortega and
Ferrari.
With this Victory River finished a negative streak of 534 minutes without scoring a goal.
Saturday saw a series of decent matches when it got underway, and there was no shortage of goals to
be found. Atlético Tucumán claimed their first victory of 2010 courtesy of a 2-1 away win over
Chacarita Juniors, who in spite of being well beaten scored a fine consolation goal. Estudiantes
took a very early [.
Gimnasia's Marco Pérez was the hero in La Plata (Diario Uno)
Independiente and Estudiantes took over the top spot in Argentina after they won their
respective matches and Godoy Cruz lost and Argentinos could on;y muster up one point against
Arsenal.
Chacarita lose their second coach of the tournament as Mauro Navas resigned, further confirming
that the club is going to go back to second division.
The game was scheduled to be played at 2:15pm, but our journey began much earlier, around 7am. We
planned our trip to el "Nuevo Gasometro" in a way we would avoid the infamous "1-11-14", one of
Argentina's most dangerous shady towns. We arrived to the stadium around 12:45, time that we picked
up our credentials.
The goals from the 2-2 draw between Arsenal de Sarandí and Argentinos Juniors are online now at
last, and are embedded below for your viewing pleasure. Now I'm finally able to say I've enjoyed a
weekend of football action as HEGS author in Buenos Aires, I can also attempt something new to HEGS
you'll [.
The biggest winners of the weekend just gone were undoubtedly Racing Club, who took an enormous
step towards securing their place in the Primera División next season as their rivals fell by the
wayside. On Sunday night Ariel Ortega had a car accident (he, and the occupants of the other car,
are fine), Seba Verón [.
No
Olimpo de Bahia Blanca returns to the top flight of the Argentina league after two years. The
institution that was founded in 1910 earned the third promotion of its history, this time under the
lead of head coach Omar de Felippe.
Bahia Blanca is a small city of Buenos Aires, known as the capital of Basketball, and home of Manu
Ginobili.
With only two games left in the season, Angel Cappa has a clear idea in mind of what he wants his
squad to look like next season. He has asked the board for four reinforcements for next season,
including one goalkeeper, a defender, a central midfielder and a center forward.
He has asked the board to also extend Ariel Ortega's contract, however he has put in doubt the
continuity of Marcelo Gallardo and Matias Almeyda; The 36 year old and current captain of the squad
is a fan favorite and one of the most regular players in the squad.
A bit of a paradox, this torneo corto (short championship), because in spite of it only lasting 19
matches, it's been an absolute epic. We've seen four teams in contention for the title, two of whom

Ferrari (´24), Ríver venció a Independiente (3-2) (
