You could make a pretty strong case for Juan Pablo Angel. He did miss an open shot today against
Chivas USA, pushed it just wide actually, but it's just rust that he'll have overcome by the start
of the season. Better to miss those now than in April. Also a nice guy and stopped to take pictures
with onlookers, even with a schmuck wearing a Pachuca jersey (thanks gly!
April 1999 - Son Brooklyn`s name on his back.
April 1999 - An angel on his back.
2000 - Hindi "Victoria" design on his left arm.
April 2002 - Roman numeral VII on right forearm.
May 2003 - Latin phrase "Perfectio In Spiritu", meaning "Spiritual Perfection",
on his right arm.
Four years ago it was Carlos Tevez, on Saturday Benfica's Angel Di María secured his place in
Argentine football history by becoming the second man to score a gold medal-winning goal for his
country in the Olympic Football Tournament. In a final played in scorching heat in the Bird's Nest
Stadium in Beijing, Argentina rode [.
Although it seemed so certain on Monday that Jozy would feature, there are rumblings that the
strikers at Villarreal are mystically healing. VillarrealUSA reports: "Rossi and Angel
were pulled out of practice on Wednesday, both experiencing some discomfort (the bad news).
The good news is that they are both expected to be ready to go on [.
First of all, congrats to Angel, who came off the bench in the second half for Blanco, and did
an excellent job, with a goal being waved off. Shame. It was a hell of a finish.
But the All Star Game isn't the only thing on Juanpies mind!
Angel recently had "productive" discussions with Colombian National Team Coach Jorge
Luis Pinto.
The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle United, thrilled by the capture of Coloccini and Gutierrez,
are now after two 20 year-olds from Argentina. Angel Di Maria - 20 year old Newcastle pursuing
Argentina won the Olympic Football Gold yesterday and Tony Jimenez has been given the task of going
after them.
Soccer by Ives is reporting that MLS has blocked the Red Bulls' purchase of Macoumba Kandji from
the Silverbacks. Get the details here...
I think MLS really, really screwed up here. Who cares what league a quality player is in? Why
should the fact that he's playing in the USL matter as to his value?
Here she is again, our Oranje Angel. She graced many a magazine and newspaper cover already and in
particular with this pic. She smiles sweetly, the eyes soothing, the wings give you a feeling of
safety, the beautiful orange colour... Her blonde hair, the curves... She floats through Bern and

Brian Lewis of the New York Post always seems to have the scoop. And this week
is no different.
For those who have been asking, here is the dealio:
- The Atlanta Silverbacks are still asking for the absurd transfer fee of 200k
for their elite forward, Macoumba Kanji (just a side note - his first name is
pronounced the same way as an ancient Brazilian voodoo practice).

According to this article in the highly credible Argentine website Olé, Angel may be going
back to River Plate, if not during this season then shortly thereafer. It remains to be seen what
River is prepared to offer Red Bull NY for their star Colombian striker.
Argentina beat Nigeria 1-0 to capture the gold medal at the 2008 Olympic games. Argentina was my
pick, and the favorite of many to win the gold at these Olympic games, and they didn't
disappoint. Angel di Maria scored for Argentina in the 58th minute off a great through ball
from Lionel Messi. Messi wasn't able to score in the game, but was key to every attacking chance
Argentina had in the game
1. New England (7-3-2). As long as Chicago isn't around, New England has the tools for yet another MLS Cup run.
2. Chicago (6-3-1). No truth to the rumor that Fire petitioned league to play rest of schedule on the road.
3. Houston (4-3-5). Suddenly, Houston is at top of Western Conference standings, and all is right in that part of Texas.
Thank you Finnster... All of you, drop what you're doing and vote our Angel: Just checked the
Norwegian newspapers and one of them is running a piece about who has the prettiest supporters in
EC08.... Well, the Dutch candidate is no other than our beloved Oranje Angel!!!! Yeah baby!!!

Angel didn't play - he just made an appearance. Also, not to tell my ESPN editor what to title his
own posts, but it looks like according to Theirry Henry, it should be called, "Jason Kidd can
ball?" Yeah, and where's blogMaverick covering the things that really matter?
you could say we gave it a valiant effort, but in the end, it's still a loss on the road against
the basement team in a game that players knew was their last chance to show osorio that they
shouldn't be benched or cut outright.
- angel finally scored again. you could see the relief on his face after the goal.
Ex-Real Madrid coach Vincente del Bosque is set to take charge of European Championship holders
Spain until the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. With this move to a tried-and-tested, older manager
could this point to the end for young ex-players? The president of the Spanish football federation
(RFEF) Angel Maria .
Messi magic and an Angel Di Maria finish brought Argentina a 1-nil win, and a well-deserved Olympic
gold, over Nigeria on Saturday, August 23. Messi brilliantly worked himself away from the tough
Nigerian defense and fed the ball to Di Maria to coolly slot it in the Nigerians' net in the ...
Marco: "Oranje angel, come to Marcoooo....." I mean, what have we learned of course. Was
a typo. Sorry. Before we start: the most important lesson is... WE HAVE WITNESSED A HISTORIC
FOOTBALL MATCH. All you guys out there... Talking about JC in WC1974, San Marco in 1988, Bergkamp
in 1998, Kluivert in
JPA did an ESPN Deportes chat, which I've translated here. One notable aspect was not a single
question concerned his current team. Red Bull New York.
JPA: Hi everyone, I'm happy to be here to chat, so let's get to the questions.
Jesus: Do you think that Colombia has the roster to be able to qualify for the 2010 World Cup?
I have to say this European Championship has been great fun so far...here we are at the semi-final
stage and there has only been a couple of bad games. One of them was Italy V Spain. Italy smothered
the Spanish by playing classic catanacio football and unfortunately their only outlet we Toni...who
looked like, as my mate Andy Redfern said, "a poor man's Brett Angel".
Without Reyna and possibly Angel, what's the best weapon Red Bull could pull out against Chivas USA
this Saturday? A Kljestan of their own. A MISL product, hopefully he's no Jamar Beasley.
Image via Wikipediaouch. the new york red bulls got drummed up and down the field on friday night
in colorado. the rapids deserved the 4-0 shellacking they gave us - which could have easily been
7-0.
it looked like no one even wanted to play. the backline was flat, conway was under attack all
night, we had no midfield (apart from a few vertical moves from dvb), and our forwards never got
service.
Questions abound regarding that Reyna DP slot. Do we own it? Will we use
it?
Ives is clarifying things, as always. The Bulls won't be using the DP slot this season - mainly
due to salary cap constraints. But they plan on using it on a marquee player for the opening of
Harrison next summer.
Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are targeting Angel Di Maria who has told sources he is interested in a
move to the Emirates - but only after one more season with Benfica. Wenger was reportedly close to
signing the Argentinian last summer, but the 20-year-old opted for a move to the Portuguese giants
instead of heading to [.
Hmm, Hillcrest predicts a 3-1 MLS win with goals from Gomez, Cooper, Beckham and Faubert. We get a
3 (nice)-2 MLS win (nice) with goals from Gomez (nice), Blanco and De Rosario for the All-Stars.
Ashton scored twice for West Ham. Three correct predictions on the match? Not bad. Correctly
predicting the most important aspect (the winner), even better.
Image via Wikipediawell, yesterday's game was a cause for celebration in many ways for the new york
red bulls:
1. we won a game. we actually won a game.
2. we beat dc united, our most hated rival.
3. we beat an eastern conference foe for the first time since the first game of the season.
NYRB 2 TFC 0
You could ponder tactics and strategies when you try to think about TFC's loss today, but it would
lead you nowhere. It was not a game of match-ups and styles. It was more of a simple tale of talent
and luck. New York had both. Talent does not have to show up for long. New York proved that today.

For much of the men's Olympic soccer tournament, the focus has been on Argentine star Lionel Messi,
and given his undeniable skill on the ball, much of that attention is deserved. But history has
shown countless times that one-man teams don't win tournaments, and this was proven once again in
Saturday's final, with Angel di Maria's goal giving Argentina a 1-0 victory over a game Nigeria
side.
Benfica have reportedly put a £24million price tag on Argentina youngster Angel di Maria to
ward off Arsenal. The 20-year-old jumped into the limelight following his classy match-winner
against Nigeria in the Olympics football final in Beijing. Premier League rivals Chelsea and
Manchester United are thought to be amongst a host of top European clubs interested in [.
Who ever said that 0-0 matches aren't exciting? That had to be the most competitive match between
these two clubs in a couple years. Usually we dominate these matches, and the last one against the
Red Bulls should be thrown out, but I can't think of a time we've ever played them to a scoreless
draw.
as red bulls fans gear up for this season's first game against dc united, there's several items to
consider.
1. dc had a horrible beginning to the year and looked to be the goats of the east. however, the
last two games have seen them start to believe in themselves again. damn.
2.
There is royalty in Tuscany?? The Oranje Angel did it again! Marco van Basten is San Marco again.
Gunter Netzer applied for Dutch citizenship. Spain is not that good. Sweden is not that good
either. Russia does have Guus Hiddink! The Greek team wasn't able to repeat their victory: immense
shock to the international football world.
Well, it's a bit clouded... Maybe it doesn't work too well when there's no real need to win :-) (I
put this in for our French, Italian and Romanian friends, just to rub it in...) But, I did see very
clear images of Oranje Angel chasing the ball in the box. Funnily enough,
Angel Di Maria is a wanted man. The 20-year-old Argentine was reported to have earned the attention
of Blackburn, Everton and Newcastle but it looks like they'll have to wait. The midfielder instead
is going to spend another year at...
Davy Arnaud scored his first goal of the season, taking a long pass from Kurt Morsink behind the
New York defense and scoring past Jon Conway into the middle of the goal. The goal turned out to be
the game-winner after Angel brought one back for NY later in the second half. Go vote for Davy
here.
Watch it here:
and here:
Mr White talks about the All-Star Game.
Blanco: I think it's nice to play with other pros of different teams. You can enjoy yourself, have
fun and put on a good show for the fans.
Pablo: We've faced each other in games, Mexico versus U.S., and haven't said nice things to each
other, but I've talked to him the past couple of days.
