Liverpool are looking into developing a long term partnership with top Uruguay side Nacional, which will offer them first refusal on their Uruguayan teams players.

The Red star Luis Suarez originally played for the Nacional team before joining Ajax and Liverpool have also just completed the signing of young star Sebastian Coates.

News out today is that Glen Johnston has suffered another set back with a recurrence of his hamstring injury after making a comeback on the weekend against Stoke.

Johnston told his twitter followers:

The England U21 captain scored a great goal thursday night leading his team to a 6-0 victory over Azerbaijan.

Joe Flanagan also had an impressive debut, playing the full 90 minutes.

Jamie Carragher has come out this morning and said he is happy with the return of former striker Craig Bellamy. He believes Bellamy can be more influential this spell.

Bellamy signed a two year deal with Liverpool on deadline day and returns to the club he left four years ago. He was sold after only one season by Rafa Benitez to bring in additional funds after scoring 9 goals.

While they were overshadowed by some bigger spending clubs on transfer deadline day, Liverpool were kept busy with plenty of players leaving and a few new ones coming in. Liverpool made seven major moves up and around the deadline, as Dalglish rounded out his summer rebuild and put the finishing touches on the rough edges of his squad.

Steven Gerrard is looking to make his comeback from injury against Tottenham on September 18th and will be returning to full training this week.

Gerrard had hoped to return in Liverpool's final preseason friendly against Valencia but suffered an infection caused by his last groin operation.

Charlie Adam is now doubtful for Liverpool's visit to Stoke this Saturday after picking up a slight hip injury playing for Scotland. The midfielder was forced off with only 10 minutes to go in Scotland's 2:2 draw with Czech Republic in Saturdays Euro 2012 qualifier.

Adams injury may represent a good opportunity for Jay Spearing or Jonjo Shelvey to get a recall to the starting lineup.

The Liverpool U19 squad has recorded an impressive 4-0 win at the NextGen series away to Molde.

The goal scorers were Toni Silva with 2, Conor Coady with a penalty and Raheem Sterling.

Liverpool duo Martin Skrtel and Charlie Adam will serve an automatic one match suspension after they were both sent off on the weekend against Spurs.

Luckily for the reds they will miss the fourth round Carling Cup fixture against Brighton on Wednesday and be available for selection next weekend.

Daniel Agger is expected to be out of training for at least 4 weeks after he suffered a broken rib in the 4-0 loss to Tottenham on Sunday.

This comes as a big blow for Liverpool as Agger was playing well and getting a good run of games after a few injury plagued seasons.

"Daniel has got a fractured rib, so he's struggling a bit," said Dalglish.

The return of Steven Gerrard was marked with a 2-1 win over Brighton in the Carling Cup. Gerrard came on as a late substitute in the 73rd minute after missing 6 months with injury.

It took just 7 minutes for Liverpool to take the lead after Bellamy finished a chance which was set up by Luis Suarez.

Liverpool have today confirmed that there next Carling Cup fixture will be against Stoke City in the fourth round on Wednesday, October 26th.

Kick-off will be 7.45pm at the Britannia Stadium.

The Reds will be looking to get some revenge after dropping three points on their last visit despite dominating the game.

When Kenny Dalglish signed Jordan Henderson this summer, it was undoubtedly a move to try to find a long-term successor for Anfield legend Steven Gerrard, not that he is looking to hang his boots up any time soon. This will then give Henderson time to learn from the Liverpool Legend and hopefully develop into a superstar.

It's been revealed that midfielder Jonjo Shelvey will go out on loan to Blackpool in order to get more game time to help him develop.

Liverpool's midfield is already full of quality players and with the return from injury of Steven Gerrard, Shelvey will find it even harder to get some game time.
