The game was pretty even overall with Liverpool the better side in the first half and they deserved to take the lead in the 34th minute when Maxi Rodriguez slotted away after a poor Chelsea turnover.

Chelsea came out stronger in the second half and were rewarded when substitute Daniel Strurridge had an easy finish at the back post.
