As we all already know, Fernando Torres missed last night's Liverpool match against Aston Villa
to witness the birth of his second child. We're now giddy-with-glee to confirm that Olalla gave
birth to a baby boy, Leo, late yesterday. The footy world was rocked to its core [as were the
pastry shops within 10 kilometers of our flats] so much so that the baby's birth was not
reported according to the time of day, but rather, what minute mark of Liverpool's match (the 74th,
FYI).
Ryan Babel takes the hint when no one tells him that training has been cancelled.

Dutch winger Babel has ruined just about every chance he has been given at Anfield over the past
two and a half years and the fact that he turned up at Melwood when no one else did could mean a
number of things.

New Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is a good bloke, clearly, but that doesn't mean Uncle Woy
wouldn't dare poach a player or two from his former club, Fulham. That's just the way it works
managers want to work with players they rate and like.
I don't think Hodgson will pillage the Cottage, but I predict he will sign at least one Fulham
star before the beginning of the new Premier League season.

Andrea Dossena's agent claims a deal to take the Liverpool defender to Napoli is all but
done.
Steven Gerrard is ready to quit Liverpool in his desperate search for trophies.
The Kop captain is considering leaving this summer for a £30m move – with Real Madrid the likely
destination – as the team struggles under Rafa Benitez.
Steven Gerrard is increasingly concerned at the direction his club is moving and is worried they
are losing touch with major clubs at home and abroad.
It's safe to assume that the current Liverpool squad needs rebuilding and reconstruction this
off season if they are to replicate the form that saw them finish runners up in the 2008-2009
season. It Liverpool aspire to challenge for a top four finish or the title, new bodies and a
fresh outlook may just be what's needed at Anfield.
Big money offer comes in for one of Rafa's prized assets as another is offered a new
contract.

Manchester City prepare £100m summer move for Liverpool striker Torres
The People have sensationally claimed this morning that Manchester City are preparing a
sensational summer move for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres .
So it's that time of the year. No, not World Cup time. Well yes... But it's also time for
everything pertaining to the bizarre world of football transfers. AFR has you covered with
transfers as we have just launched AFR transfers, which will supply you with a healthy serving of
all the daily updates and rumours from the somewhat morally lacking aspect of football that we all
know and love.
It was not a pleasant outing for Steven Gerrard as England captain in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Although he opened the scoring for his country merely four minutes into their tournament opener,
the very sight of a dejected Gerrard exiting the Lions' team plane suggested that he was ready to
leave England's sorrows behind to move on to club football.
Think back to to 2006... it was a good year for Philippe Senderos. The young centre-half, whom
Arsene had signed way back in 2002 when he was a coveted prospect, started half of the club's
league matches and became a regular in central defense as Sol Campbell neared the end of the first
part of his Arsenal career.
On this date 21 years ago, the Hillsborough Stadium Disaster happened in Sheffield when 96 fans
were crushed to death as a result of failure of police control.
The city of Liverpool will today stop and pay tribute to those who died on Leppings Lane. The
Lord Mayor of Liverpool and other civic leaders will meet for a two minute silence and prayers at
11.
A last-minute equalizer at Anfield in their Premier League opener meant that the Gunners weren't
about to hit panic mode, despite the absence of quite a few of their starters.
In the build-up to that crucial fixture against Liverpool last week, manager Arsene Wenger spoke
with certainty about the absence of midfield trio Alex Song, Denilson, and skipper Cesc
Fabregas.
Roy Hodgson will look to secure a deal to bring Juventus forward David Trezeguet to Anfield and
hopes that deals that brought Alberto Aquilani to Turin and Christian Poulsen to Merseyside will
help in potential negotiations for the 32 year old former French international to the club.
The feeling of frustration and disappointment after Steven Gerrard's second goal of the game
went in last weekend was almost unbearable. We'd played them off the park for the whole game but
thanks to two set pieces, were now level.
Obviously, things turned out alright for us, but it was only upon returning home and watching
MOTD2 that I saw how Gerrard had chosen to celebrate his equalising goal.
Liverpool's out-of-favour Ryan Babel is reportedly ready to infuriate manager Rafael Benitez by
rejecting a transfer to Sunderland, which would have seen striker Kenwyne Jones move the other
way.
Babel's future at Anfield remains the subject of much speculation with Birmingham City believed to
have failed with a bid for the Dutchman while a range of other clubs including Marseille, Besiktas
and Fiorentina have also been linked with the 23-year-old.

You know it's just not going to be your night when, after being made to sit through the truly
woeful first half of Liverpool's 3-1 Europa League victory over Napoli, you suddenly get word from
'downstairs' that your £65,000 saloon has been besmirched by a horse's arse.
Daniel Agger
The Danish centre-back is still only 25 and, with Jamie Carragher looking like he is slowly on the
way out, Agger is perfectly primed to make himself the defensive main man at Anfield for many
years. Now the Slovakian Martin Skrtel needs to get up to scratch alongside Agger, just as Agger
has done alongside Carragher and Sami Hyypia in the past.
As another manager, this time Tony Mowbray, bites the dust you can be forgiven for thinking that
Rafa Benitez might actually be a cat. After all the man seems to have had as many lives. On
countless occassions he has been written off and seemingly on his way out of Anfield yet much to
the disdain of many he still remains.
Steven Gerrard is ready to wave farewell to Liverpool – with Manchester City making a record
£40million bid for the Kop skipper.
Megabucks City's Arab rulers have given the go-ahead for the capture of the summer and hope to
agree a fee and speak to the England star as soon as possible.
According to the Daily Mail, Roy Hodgson and Liverpool are in hot pursuit of West Ham
United striker Carlton Cole. The big striker had an impressive campaign in the Premier League last
season and narrowly missed out on a spot in Fabio Capello's final 23 for the World Cup. Now, Roy
Hodgson reportedly wants to team him up with Liverpool hotshot Fernando Torres.
Today is the big day for the Jamie Carragher tributes, as the testimonial between the Liverpool
XI and Everton XI kicks off from Anfield at 14:00GMT and 9:00EST.
All proceeds from the match will benefit charities via the 23 Foundation, and a healthy crowd is
expected to attend. There's also plenty of big names attached you've no doubt heard Michael Owen is
set to return, but we'll also see Luis Garcia, Jerzy Dudek, Danny Murphy, and Jamie Redknapp in
action.

Former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman has admitted that he fears star duo
Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres will jump ship in the January
transfer window, if the club remains under it's current rootin' tootin' ownership and the players
themselves don't begin to show signs of improvement.

Of all the anti-Hicks & Gillett material, I think this banner says it best. It's poetic, it's
right.
The photo was taken at Anfield in March 2010, before Liverpool's league game against
Portsmouth.
Liverpool scout Jakob Friis-Hansen has hinted the club are looking to bring in four new players in
the January transfer window.
The Reds are currently embroiled in a takeover saga, with the boardroom split over a decision to
sell and a High Court appearance needed next week to settle matters between owners George Gillett
and Tom Hicks, and board members Christian Purslow, Ian Ayre and chairman Martin Broughton.

Liverpool will let Glen Johnson join Juventus, but only if the Italians include striker Amauri in
any potential deal.
According to the Daily Mail, the Merseysiders have reluctantly accepted Johnson wants out of
Anfield and Juventus are ready to pounce for the England defender.
However, Liverpool will reportedly attempt to get as much out of the deal as possible by demanding
Juve offer Italy forward Amauri plus cash if they are to sign Johnson.

One of the most compelling arguments over the last few years regarding England's midfield set-up
has been whether Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard are capable of playing together and producing the
kind of performances that they both show regularly for their clubs. Typically, Gerrard has held the
upper hand in selection preferences to the point where at times Lampard has suffered all the
criticism, especially from the fans.

The importance placed on certain individuals during the build up to a World Cup can often
determine whether supporters go into a tournament with optimism or sickening pessimism.
Kevin Keegan, Bryan Robson, David Beckham, Wayne Rooney and now Rio Ferdinand have all been
subject to close inspection over injury from apprehensive fans in the days leading up to the World
Cup.
Yossi Benayoun has had another go at former manager Rafa Benitez
Benayoun says the training at Chelsea is different to at Liverpool – in that they use a ball.
Benayoun has started training with his new club following his £6million summer move from
Anfield.Chelsea coach Ray (BUTCH?) Wilkins said: "Yossi is doing well.
Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is believed to be lining up Diego Forlan to replace Fernando Torres,
amid fears that the Spanish international is ready to walk out of Anfield.
According to The People, the Kop chief is ready to build for the future and has his sights set on
bringing the Atletico Madrid star back to the Premier League if his stellar striker decides to move
on this summer.
Among the many hot topics currently being discussed by Liverpool supporters, the subject of
strikers has assumed great significance this week.
Fernando Torres, of course, has been the subject of most conjecture; every bulletin that has
appeared about his future have invoked either gasps of anxiety or sighs of relief and it is
encouraging that Roy Hodgson said he has told Liverpool he is ready to return to work.
