HOT on the heels of the Fernando Torres song in its full Kop glory, here's some stirring
stuff to help Reds block out Chelski's trip to their fatherland with Ronaldo & Co. I
thought Anfield stadium announcer George 'It took the biscuit' Sephton was going to cry at the
end...
Excuse our indifference but we've been through this before.
No matter how hyped up the transfer of David N'Gog is, it is hard to get excited. Any flattery
lavished on the French sounds far too similar to the praise devoted to the likes of Anthony Le
Tallec and Florent Sinama Pongolle before they joined.
So let's get our minds working over what chants our fans can sing at Anfield in a fortnight's time!
Surely we can do better than what Spurs already have on offer. To That Boy Ronaldo: He plays on the
left He plays on the right That boy Berbatov Thinks City are shite To Another One Bites The Dust:
Dim Dim Dim, Dimitar [.
Wait, you thought those Fernando Torres to Chelsea rumors were finally dead? Think again.
The Daily Star one of the most reputable news sources in all the known
world says Roman Abramovich is willing to lift £85 million from his money bin in Duckburg and
drop it over Anfield.
For the sake of argument, lets say there's at least a little truth hidden somewhere inside this
monstrosity of an article.
It's the game that everyone has been talking about, the SFL, 20 teams, 20 stunning girls, the
chance to get your team to the top of the league by playing beautiful football. There's no talk of
the big four in the SFL! It's been a great 1st season with our very addictive game being played
over 700,000 times!
It looks as if Liverpool boss Benitez has relented and decided to accept Portsmouth's bid for
England international striker Peter Crouch, but as he does so has he made his biggest mistake as
Anfield supremo? Peter Crouch finally landed his move to Portsmouth yesterday after the south coast
club relented over .
But will one of the 'Big Four' make an offer that Cardiff City just can't refuse? It's clear that
Aaron Ramsey is a star in the making, with the 17-year-old having already featured in an FA Cup
final during his short career to date. However, despite potential overtures from Old Trafford,
Anfield and The Emirates, [.
Liverpool have confirmed today that they rejected a £50 million bid for their Spanish striker
Fernando Torres on transfer deadline day. The former Atletico Madrid man was subject of a massive
bid from the world's newest richest club, Manchester City.
Torres, 24, has been linked with Chelsea also in recent months with rumours claiming that Roman
Abramovich was also willing to bid £50 million for the Euro 2008 winner.
Fernando Torres and David Villa had a fun time on Tuesday in the European Championships and Liverpool fans had to licking their chops at the possibility of a Torres/Villa duo tormenting foes at Anfield. Villa became only the seventh player...
If money was no object, then the tabloids would have you believe that £300m could be invested
in new arrivals at Anfield. However, this target could apparently only need a little persuading to
become a feared strike partner for El Nino! Rafa Benitez could persuade David Villa to sign for
Liverpool, according to the striker's Spanish [.
Well you can add another name to the Liverpool squad for the upcoming season. The club announced
today that French sensation David Ngog will be plying his trade at Anfield after making the move
from PSG. While I don't know much about Ngog, everything that I've read and seen has got me pretty
excited.
Liverpool's new signing from Udinese, Andrea Dossena, has told the
club's fans they needn't fear an outbreak of Italian-style catenaccio defence next season.
Italian football sets the benchmark by which defensive excellence is measured, with the catenaccio
blanket-style defence perfected in the 1960s as the bedrock of the 1-0 win and forever associated
with Serie A, even though things have evolved and been refined since then.
Question: What do 33 goals and a massive following of Kopites get you nowadays? Well if you're
Fernando Torres, it apparently gets you a pretty hefty pay raise. The Telegraph reports that
Liverpool have rewarded their Spanish ace with a £800,000-a-year pay increase after he ran
roughshod over opponents in his first season at the Merseyside [.
Rafa has gone about assembling a fine array of young talent at Anfield, and now he wants to beat
neighbours Everton to a left-sided teenager... The Daily Express reports that Mattock, 18, will be
leaving the midlands club in the near future. Gareth McAuley just recently left the Foxes, who were
relegated to League One this season [.
The likelihood of Xabi Alonso leaving Liverpool this summer continues to decrease, with reports
emerging that the club's American owners are preparing to top up the transfer kitty themselves.
Prior to EURO 2008 it seemed a foregone conclusion that Alonso would end his four-year spell on
Merseyside to join Juventus.
Rafa Benitez has made it clear he has no hope of getting a game at Anfield, but this Liverpool
custodian just won't seem to get the hint! Don't forget to check out Online Football Manager!
Liverpool goalkeeper Charles Itandje has revealed he has turned down a move to Galatasaray and is
holding ..
New Hertha Berlin signing Andriy Voronin is excited by the prospect of playing in the Bundesliga
after joining on loan from Liverpool.
The Ukraine striker was a deadline-day arrival from Anfield and is looking forward a second stint
in Germany having plied his trade there for 12 years before moving to Merseyside in the summer of
2007.
There's the Anfield that we all know on TV. The sight of Liverpool supporters waving their scarves
as millionaires such as Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard run around the pitch. But directly
behind Anfield is something that Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett don't want you to
see. The most deprived neighborhood in Britain.
Following Albert Riera's timely arrival at Liverpool on the last day of the transfer window, Rafa
Benitez finally has two good wide players to deploy in his line-up who he can trust to produce
excellent performances consistently.
Ryan Babel can be played on either flank, but now that the left-footed Riera has turned up he
should be placed on the right-hand side of Liverpool's previously rigid midfield.
If there's any justice Arsenal will make the semi finals "Tale as old as time, song as old as
rhyme. Beauty and the Beast." Inspiring lyrics from a great film. I can see the teapots
dancing now; I can see that adorable little cup with a chip in it. Smashing stuff. Today, however,
I have realised I am not as accepting of ugly things as these dancing sets of crockery.
Euro 2008 top scorer David Villa is not on Liverpool's transfer hit list this summer.
And the Valencia striker has even moved to dampen speculation himself.
The four-goal leading marksman at the European Championships was recently quoted as saying he held
an ‘attraction' for both Liverpool and Chelsea.
It may have been the biggest statement of the summer so far from Rafa Benitez. The Liverpool
manager said he expected two signings to happen very soon at Anfield and instantly I got to
thinking about who they might be....
Liverpool midfielder Sebastian Leto is on the verge of joining Greek outfit Olympiakos on a season
long loan move.
Leto joined Liverpool in 2007 but has failed to make an impact in the first team and spent the
majority of his time in Gary Ablett's reserves. The Reds were supposedly trying to use the
Argentine in a part exchange deal for Albert Riera earlier in the season, but the reds offer was
shot down by Espanyol.
Turkish giants Fenerbahce appear to have emerged as the favourites to sign Liverpool's Spanish
midfielder Xabi Alonso.
Fenerbahce have emerged as the front-runners to sign Liverpool's Spanish International Xabi Alonso,
with Serie A Champions Inter Milan and Arsenal also being linked with the midfielder.
After the drudgery of two awful premiership performances in a row, it is clear that Liverpool need
to sign at least one dedicated winger before the transfer deadline. Stewart Downing is once again
in the frame but it seems that many fans just don't want him. However, in my view, Downing could be
just the player Liverpool need to bring some much needed balance to the team.
As the protests at Liverpool grow, many fans are calling for Dubai International Capital to swoop
in and rescue the club by buying out American owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett. But the big
question remains: do DIC really have the club's interests at heart, or are they also out to make a
quick buck?
In the latest installment of the Anfield soap-opera the firm of architects that will be taking on
the Stanley Park stadium development are at the epicenter over a collapsed stadium in Texas. Gossip
stalwarts and Rupert Murdoch floozies Football365 report that: "A section of new seats of the Texas
Christian University's Amon Carter [.
Jens Lehmann doesn't know when to stop talking, so perhaps we should take his comments with a pinch
of salt. In a way, it's refreshing to hear a footballer shoot from the hip, when so many players
say relatively nothing when being interviewed. The former Arsenal keeper's latest gem concerns
Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, who [.
Arsenal are today planning a £18 million bid for Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry after
weeks of speculation about the Villa captain's future. Barry has been linked with Liverpool for
some time now as Rafa Benitez has had several bids rejected for the 27-year old but Arsene Wenger
is now looking to snatch Barry from Liverpool's grasps.
Liverpool are today preparing to forget about signing Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry and instead
move for Valencia winger David Silva. Reds boss Rafa Benitez has been chasing Barry for months now
but he has been priced out of a move for him by Villa boss Martin O'Neill. (The Sun)
He has now decided to move for Spanish international David Silva, who has been linked with a whole
host of Premier League clubs in recent weeks as it becomes more and more likely he will leave
Valencia this summer.
New signing Philipp Degen is facing the prospect of missing the start of Liverpool's season with a
groin strain.
Degen could require surgery on the injury, sustained during the team's pre-season training camp in
Switzerland last week.
The right-back, who arrived on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund in the summer, missed much of
last season with a groin problem.
This is an open letter from John Arne Riise that was published on the official Liverpool
website.
Dear fans of Liverpool FC,
After seven seasons at Anfield, it's time for me to "walk on". In many ways it feels
inspiring and exciting to be familiar with the pressure of a new employer, meet new fans, meet a
new culture and play a new kind of football.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez is reportedly considering a January swoop for Tottenham Hotspur
winger Aaron Lennon, with the England International also said to be attracting attention from Aston
Villa and Newcastle United.
21-year-old Lennon has been at White Hart Lane since joining from Leeds United in 2005, but despite
making a promising start to his career at the North London side, which forced him into the England
squad, Lennon has not pushed on to become the star many thought he would at Spurs.
Liverpool fans protest against American owners
It's that time again, time to listen to the official Champions League Hymn that we hear before and
after TV matches and sing as high as we can. Don't kid yourself; you do it, I do it, it's no big
deal, even if we don't understand the words. The Champions League is back tomorrow and I [...]
Teflons weekly rant If you watched the whole of 'Grand Slam Sunday' on your couch with a beer you
obviously have no life, or your Sunday League game was cancelled because a snowflake fell and it is
now officially 'Hazardous' to play in snow because you might get a little chilly. So being left all
alone for the weekend as the wife took a long trek north to see her family over Easter, I took the
Mans approach of staying at home with beer and football (and my Dog) because my Sunday league game
was cancelled, again.
It will come as no great surprise to hear that Harry Kewell is leaving Liverpool after five seasons
at the club. When the Australian arrived from Leeds United in 2003, he was regarded as one of the
hottest players in the Premier League but perpetual injuries have seen him play just a minor role
for [.
Rafael Benitez has been told by Rick Parry that Liverpool must be Premier League contenders next
season (that doesn't mean tailing off around Christmas time), despite the Spaniard claiming the
domestic title is just one option. Nevertheless, some serious spending appears to be under way,
with The Sun reporting that Andrea Dossena could be the [.
It would appear Scott Carson's departure from Anfield, which has been assumed since last summer
(albeit, then, to Villa) is finally on cusp of finally actually happening. Reports are that
LFC have agreed upon a £4 million fee and the young 'keeper has ironed out personal terms
with the newly promoted club.
Xabi Alonso will get his wish and stay at Anfield. At least that's how it looks now that Juventus
have declared their summer activity complete. With Juve out of the running for Xabi, could Arsenal
be close behind? Frank Lampard...
