Andy Johnson Rumor
Here's the source of the Andy Johnson to Houston rumor I mentioned on Twitter this morning.
Nothing solid, but it's certainly interesting. He'd be a hell of a signing.

With a name that makes us all thank the stars for 'copy and paste', Pavel Pogrebnyak looks set
to move to west London in one of the biggest deals so far in this rather moribund transfer
window.
The Russian international striker has never been the most prolific of strikers, however, the
imposing forward is best utilised as a targetman who can hold up the ball, and he'll no doubt be
confident of making a (hard-to-spell) name for himself at Craven Cottage.
There are a number of questions that need to be aired over the English Premier League match between
Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion.
The game was settled by two goalkeeping errors from Stoke's man with a Squiggle, Thomas
Sorensen.
The man might be a Squiggly goalie...

The story of US National Team players abroad begins and ends with Clint Dempsey this weekend.
That's what happens when an American scores three goals in the Premier League. Dempsey was the
difference in a game that showed little promise in the first-half, but turned into a 5-2 win for
Fulham over Newcastle United.

Fulham 5-2 Newcastle United Premier League 21 January 2012
"I gave a free-kick against you because I hate you and your big head of lovely big
hair"
Newcastle were always going to face their biggest test when the Africa Cup Of Nations robbed
them of two of their star performers this season, Demba Ba and Cheik Tioté, and judging on today's
result, the Magpies could face a difficult month.
szólj hozzá: Fulham v Newcastle 5:2 GOALS
Clint Dempsey's 50th, 51st, and 52nd goal for Fulham lifted the Cottagers over Newcastle.
The first half was all Newcastle and just before halftime they went ahead through Danny
Guthrie's superlative left footed strike. Martin Jol must have mixed chili powder in his half time
pep talk as he effected two very important changes, taking Bryan Ruiz from central midfield,
bringing on Chris Baird, and introducing Andy Johnson as Fulham turned the game a 180 degrees in
the second half
The former Crystal Palace man made an immediate impact troubling the Newcastle defense with his
zip.
Fulham are one of those inconsistent teams that seem to go from one extreme to the other. This
season for example they have crushed Queens Park Rangers 6-0 at Craven Cottage, including a
hat-trick for Andy Johnson, but also lost 0-5 to easy meat like Manchester United (did you see what
I did there?).

A week after falling 3-0 to Manchester City in the league, a Liverpool side without two of their
top players returned to face a City side missing three of their best for the first leg of the
League Cup semi-finals.

The first Friday night league game in England in over twenty years hardly started well for
Liverpool, following the pattern set by matches against Blackburn, Wigan, and Fulham in recent
weeks.
Don't normally put stock in transfer rumors, but it's a slow week and this story has legs.
Blackburn boss Steve Kean expects the green light to bid for unhappy Fulham striker Andy Johnson
on Wednesday and make him one of the first signings of the winter transfer window.
Kean is due to meet Rovers director Vineeth Rao on his return from a summit with owners Venky's
to secure the cash to carry out the £2million swoop.

Ha ha. What crisis?
Playing the league's bottom team at a time like this was always likely to be one of those tricky
games. On the one hand, you would rather be playing a bad team than a good one; on the other, lose
this one... doesn't bear thinking about.
Anyway, it didn't happen, owing to two marvellous goals involving Bryan Ruiz's wand of a left
foot.
Here! Have some points!
It's easy to sit here and criticise, of course.
So here goes.
Why on earth did we sit back and (seemingly) play for a 0-0 draw against a fragile team who
let's face it we match up very well against?
When Swansea scored (a fluke, but a fluke that was absolutelydeserved) Fulham woke up and
attacked, and for half an hour gave Swansea a relative pasting.
Fulham's summer signing Moussa Dembele believes that his side will qualify from the Europa
League group stage despite a heart-breaking 1-0 defeat to Dutch runners-up FC Twente.
In a toughly contested match away from home, the Cottagers always looked second best and were
punished when Austria international Marc Janko struck with just over a minute left to play.

Add this to also owning the Erinsborough news, and it's a wonder Robbo finds time for footy at all.

Fulham 4-1 Wisla Krakow: Andy Johnson nips in to score the Cottager's third goal
Last night's Europa League results in full.
Bah. One of those annoying games that you wish hadn't happened. A decent looking encounter was
spoiled by the needless dismissal of renowned hard-man Moussa Dembele, whose wayward arm sent
Wisla's Nunez spiralling into deep agony. That Dembele barely touched Nunez, that the touch was
on his shoulder, not in his face (as suggested by Nunez in his distressed state), perhaps suggests
a mistake by the referee, and with that mistake went the game: we lost 1-0 to a team that lost to
Odense.

Stoke City 2-0 Fulham Premier League 15 October 2011
After an utterly dismal first half, this game came to life (ish) in the second-half, with the
home side eventually securing a deserved 2-0 win.
The Cottagers are usually rubbish on the road, so cranky Dutch boss Martin Jol won't be too
disappointed with the result.
Andy Johnson's hat-trick and ongoing contract talks got me thinking. Should we renew? Tough
call, but my instinct is that if we do it should be very much on our terms. He's been a good
player to have around, but the time he's spent off the pitch should be a red herring flag
(herring indeed!
It's no secret Andy Johnson has had a windy time at Fulham: most expensive player; star striker;
constantly injured; percevied shadow of former self. But things have been turning around, and more
so than in the past 4 days.
Here's Andy Johnson's last six months: 22 appearances, 9 goals, 1 assist
And six months prior to that: 22 appearances, 2 goals, 3 assists.

Frank Lampard's hat trick helped Chelsea rout Bolton on Sunday while Fulham thrashed QPR 6-0 in
their London derby and Swansea beat Stoke 2-0 in Sunday's other games.
Chelsea is third in the standings after Lampard led the Blues to a 5-1 victory at bottom-place
Bolton.
Daniel Sturridge set the tone for Chelsea's emphatic win at Bolton by heading in a second-minute
opener before setting up Lampard to score his first.
Andy Johnson grabbed his first ever Premier League hat-trick as Fulham beat QPR
6-0 at Craven Cottage today, Clint Dempsey, Danny Murphy and Bobby Zamora were also on target for
th Cottagers.
Arsenal suffered its fourth loss of the season at Tottenham while Frank Lampard's hat trick
helped Chelsea rout Bolton on Sunday.
Rafael van der Vaart and Kyle Walker secured Tottenham's 2-1 derby victory over Arsenal, which
is just two points above the relegation zone after seven matches.

Some updates here across the board:
Will the Deuce be drinking to the good life elsewhere in a few days...
• Sky Sports reporting that Fulham are going to secure the services of CONCACAF superb star
Bryan Ruiz out of FC Twente. That would be the largest transfer for Fulham in at least 3 years
(Andy Johnson) and perhaps one of the top two or three all-time at The Cottage.
Yikes. A horror show from Fulham, the sort of performance that really causes fans to question
the team's direction, second league game of the season or otherwise. Wolves are a handy side, of
course, and were at home, but we'd expect to have given them more of a game. We'd expect to not
play so carelessly, so.

A game that threatened to spring into life on a couple of occasions but, in the end, failed to
deliver.
We may be five weeks into our competative campaign but there was still a buzz surrounding the
opening league fixture. The sun was out and a clear run to the ground provided plenty of time for a
pre-game beer by the riverside.
Lots of FFF options to start the season. I was strongly considering going with Tom Cleverley or
Anderson as one or both should start at CM for Manchester United this weekend against West Brom and
both are super cheap ... Continue reading →

Both Fulham and Stoke secured themselves a spot in the Europa League play-off stages with
second-leg victories over RNK Split and Banana Hajduk Split respectively last night.
Coming into the game on the back of a goalless draw in Croatia, a near-post Andy Johnson header
and the now-mandatory Danny Murphy penalty saw Fulham emerge victorious by two goals to nil at the
Cottage and maintain their unbeaten run in the preliminary stages in the process.

Well who knows? Did we do well to see off a lively side, or struggle to beat an average one?
Without really working the RNK keeper, Fulham were in the ascendency early on. The returning
Clint Dempsey looked quite sprightly, and was combining nicely with John Arne Riise on the left.
Zamora and Johnson were buzzing around.
Football transfer rumours: Gary Cahill to Liverpool
All today's Rumours are feeling sick Summer's gone. You can tell because it's raining outside,

its way through the cracks in the curtains every now and then.

Not that it was a particularly easy ride, but Fulham put themselves in a strong position to
finish off their second Europa League qualifier tie against Crusaders at the Cottage by way of a
3-1 win in Belfast last night.
Matthew Briggs tonked in the opener for Fulham from range, though Timmy Adamson drew the
Northern Irish semi-pros level after pulling the ball down from the ether, juggling it over his
marker and then applying a smart, volleyed finish ten minutes after the interval.
