Before the Christmas football period, Fernando Torres stood on the cusp of greatness. Scoring 49
goals in 69 games meant that he was on the verge of becoming the fastest Liverpool player ever to
reach 50 goals in the least number of games. Though it did not come against Portsmouth or Wolves,
it finally came against top four hopeful, Aston Villa.
Following last weekends demolition of Blackburn Rovers, one man came away with a ton of praise
and rightfully so. Dimitar Berbatov scored five goals, or a glut of goals if you prefer, but was it
the beginning of a new dawn for the Bulgarian striker or will he flatter to deceive as has been the
case so far in his Old Trafford career.
Well here it is, the third and final chapter of my mid-term player review. And a topical area for
discussion, as speculation remains over a move for Leeds Utd's Jermaine Beckford, or A.N. Other
should we fail in that bid. The No.9 shirt is almost as synonymous with Newcastle United, as St
James' Park, the black [.
There is only one other goal I have seen in the Premier League this season that can hold a candle
to Wayne Rooney's goal for Manchester United against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday and that is
Maynor Figueroa's long range effort for Wigan Athletic at Stoke.
Nothing else comes close.
I don't think I need to say much to convey the sheer magic of this brilliant, ruthless counter
attack to be honest.
The other day I wrote an article debating which team would come out on top in a match between the
promotion side of 1993 and the promotion side of 2010. The response was mixed, although the poll is
still open, and opinion was pretty evenly split when deciding just which team is stronger and what

United 2 2 The Rivals
Jaap Stam, Ronny Johnsen, Andy Cole, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Clayton Blackmore, Quinton Fortune
and Dwight Yorke played for United in a Charity game for United Relief today.
Ralf Little put the Rivals 1-0 up after scoring past Blackmore, who bizarrely was playing in
goal.
Andy Cole has spoken with regret about choosing to leave Manchester United 2001 in the hope of
getting in to the England squad for the World Cup 2002.
Speaking to The Independent, Cole claims that he thought more regular football and more
goals would help sure up his place with England, but he faced the double disappointment of missing
out on the squad and no longer being a United player.
Four 6-0 defeats in just 20 Premier League matches! So what's going on? Could there have been such
a yawning gap created between the top and bottom of the league? Manchester United could have
easily...

Just read an interesting (ghost-written) piece by former goal machine Andrew/Andy Cole, in which
he revealed the roots of his bust-up with Kevin Keegan at Newcastle, which set in motion his shock
move to Manchester United. The piece was ostensibly about Cole's relationship with his former agent
Paul Stretford who is now Wayne Rooney's agent and how Stretford engineered the striker's big-money
switch to Old Trafford.
Dimitar Berbatov has become the first foreign player in Premier League history to grab five goals
in one game during Manchester United's 7-1 humbling of Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford. He

Another critical week in the Premier League saw Champions Chelsea lose their
grip on top spot, Dimitar Berbatov finally justify his exorbitant transfer fee (?),
Spurs steal points late... again, and Wolves win but stay in the bottom
three.
Berbatov arrives.
Interesting video featuring big Sam today from the Mirror. Let's hope his side never have to run

Fernando Torres scored 50 league goals in just 72 games. Wow. Incredible. He is the only
Liverpool to achieve such a feat.
We'll ignore the fact that Andy Cole and Ruud van Nistelrooy did it faster.
It took Cole just 65 Premiership games and Van Nistelrooy 68 games. Well done lads.

The FA Cup draw can be absolutely brilliant. It is rare, but when you are drawn against your
hated rivals it makes up for all the shitty low league no mark draws your team has ever had.
This year is our year for a brilliant draw. United were the second to last ball to be drawn,
Leeds the last.

101greatgoals has unearthed football's latest musical 'crossover' star, Neil Danns. I question the

Andrew "Andy" Cole (he wants to be called Andrew) is one of the iconic players of the Premier
League, a legend at two clubs, one of which is Newcastle.
Chelsea's third seven-goal haul of the season against Stoke yesterday took the club within
shooting distance of Man Utd's Premier League record for number of goals scored in a season.
Man Utd scored 97 Premier League goals in the 99/00 season, winning the league by a staggering 18
points.

On This Day In Spurs History: 4th June
1966 On this day in 1966, we were in action against Celtic in a friendly in Vancouver. After

Diego Forlan played the first game of the 2004-2005 season and then was sold rather
mysteriously. Whilst he hadn't set the world alight during his time with Manchester United, it was
fairly odd for him to leave after the season began.
We had paid Independiente £7.5m for him just a month after selling Andy Cole to Blackburn for
£8m, but then sold him on to Villarreal a couple of years later.
The old saying we all learned as children that "It takes one to know one" may not always be correct
in the harsh reality of life but there must be times when there has to be some truth in it.

Long gone are the days when United and Newcastle were rivals, with Alan Shearer snubbing us with
hopes of titles in the North-East, Kevin Keegan's very public break down on Sky Sports and nabbing
Andy Cole from under their noses. Ah yes, those were the days.
Much to everyone's surprise, Newcastle weren't 'too big to go down' the season before last, and
were relegated on the final day of the 08/09 season.

"Hey Andy, nice guts!"
After notching half the goals in Newcastle's impressive 6-0 mauling of Aston Villa yesterday,
current No.9 Andy Carroll has been attracting glowing praise from many quarters,
not least from former Toon hero Alan Shearer who, by all accounts, had a little
money riding on the rangy striker's goal-scoring exploits.
What an amazing start to the new Premier League 2010/2011 season! Defending champions, Chelsea
kicked off their campaign with two successive 6-0 wins, prompting Carlo Ancelotti to declare that
Chelsea are playing "Playstation football" at the moment. It's not the first time the Blues have
thumped Wigan - last season they put eight past Roberto Martinez' Latics.
Since Sheik Mansour took ownership of Manchester City in 2008 there has a been a lot of negative
press aimed at the East land's club. Since then they have spent millions upon millions on players
left, right, and center. They even made ridiculous claims that they were going to sign Fernando
Torres, Cristiano Ronaldo and Cesc Fabregas back in 2008.
If previous meetings between Manchester United and West Ham are any indication, there should be
plenty of goals put away on Saturday. The two clubs have often turned on the entertainment
with...
