Former Manchester United and current Newcastle United midfielder Nicky Butt was in the Algarve this
week where he had his wedding to Shelley Barlow blessed in a low-key ceremony.
Conducted at the gorgeous botanical gardens of the Monte do Casal hotel, it was a small, elegant
gathering, with only around 30 hand-picked guests, including Roy Keane, Andy Cole and Phil Neville.
After just two first-team appearances he was discarded by Arsenal and then sold to Fulham, before
he signed for second division Bristol City where he blossomed and became one of English football's
hottest young prospects, but it was Kevin Keegan at Newcastle United who in February 1993 was the
one who gave Andy Cole his big chance.
It was announced today that Andrew Cole has retired from the game at the age of 37. From
the Times Online:
When Cole signed for Nottingham Forest, he dreamt of going out in a blaze of glory, of shooting
his home-town club back into the Premier League.
Instead there were tears.

UEFA Champions League winner himself is contemplating retirement from football. Sky Sports quotes
Cole as saying: I really want to try and finish on [.

Arsenal and Leeds, as well as, most importantly, the goal that clinched us the title on the last
day of the season, putting [.

Another great article from former Republic of Ireland forward Tony Cascarino, where Tony questions
the recent signings that Keane has made including Pascal Chimbonda, El Hadji Diouf, and Djibril
Cisse. I disagree with Tony on his views though as I think Roy is doing the best he can within his
resources to bring in players that can help make Sunderland a respectable team within the Premier
League and keep them out of a relegation battle.
For years Andy Cole has assaulted opposition defenses and terrorized them and now that he is
nearing that end of his career and failing to do what was once his habit, the former Manchester
United striker appears to be taking his frustration out on his wife. It is reported that he was
arrested on charges [.
Backed by the loudest supporters in the Premier League last season, measured at average peak volume
at 129.2 decibels, almost as loud as a jet, Sunderland will look to improve on last season's
respectable 15th-place finish. The Black Cats were the only newly-promoted team to survive in the
Premiership, an accomplishment in itself, but manager Roy Keane has made it clear through his
summer signings that he wants more from his club.
