While Jeremy is our resident NUFC supporter, he is out of pocket this week so I'm going to take
over with my thoughts on the transfer of Demba Ba from WHU to St. James' Park. Taken as a move by
itself, there is little to do other than like it a lot. NUFC is desperate for strikers and Ba was
very effective over the second half of last season at Upton Park.
Speaking to North East weekly, the Sunday Stun, Newcastle United manager, Alan Pardew has claimed
that the club cannot compete with big clubs such as Tottenham or Liverpool on in terms of transfers
or wages. This is something which seemed obvious to many fans when promising stroker, Andy Carroll,
was spirited away to the latter [.
I've already gone on record in thinking that NUFC are among the mid-table clubs that have done very
well for themselves thus far. They've gone from highly volatile and a bit long in the tooth to
more solid if perhaps a little less potentially spectacular. West Brom has quietly solidified
themselves in the back with some solid acquisitions as well.
As disappointing as the end result was, especially after a cracking first half that saw
Liverpool take the game to Sunderland, there were still positives to take away from Saturday's
opening day draw at Anfield. Luis Suarez may have quite obviously tired in the second half, but it
was his first game back and from a fitness standpoint served the same purpose as the early
preseason games in China did for most of the squad, and before he did run out of gas he showed the
same deadly form that he brought to Liverpool throughout the second half of last season and to
Uruguay when he was named player of the tournament for leading his country to Copa America
glory.
On arrival at Newcastle United Demba Ba was handed the number 19 shirt, leaving the number 9 shirt
vacant. Does this indicate that there are plans to recruit another striker to fill it or is the
shirt going to be retired for a while? The Newcastle United number 9 shirt is of course sacred.

>. Welcome to the penultimate part of my transcription of Alan Pardew's long and very revealing
interview for BBC Radio Newcastle's 'Total Sport'. In this one, Pardew spills the beans about
Newcastle United's alleged pursuit of Mevlüt Erdinç, and whether he or any other new strikers
might be joining joining the club before the end [.
Newcastle United are allegedly going to double Andy Carroll's wages to make sure he stays at the
club. Warning Will Robinson! The story comes from the News of the World, which is somewhere between
Viz and The Beano in terms of reliable, factual information, so treat it with extreme caution. On
the back of Alan [.
New Liverpool FC record signing Andy Carroll mobbed as he arrives at Melwood (GALLERY) - News -
Liverpool FC - Liverpool Echo This is such a classic image. The thumbs up to the mob outside the
car - and Lord knows Carroll has had trouble with mobs and his cars before. The lawyer/agent/suit

The parallel between the start of the 2010/11 season for Liverpool Football Club was drastic,
immense and vast. Starting the season with a new manager who was completely unwanted by the
majority of supporters, who were still angry at losing fan favourite Rafael (Rafa) Benitez and
having seen club icon Kenny Dalglish been looked over by the clubs decision makers.
31st January 2011 was an eventful and stressful day for Newcastle United forward Andy Carroll.
He started the day as normal, still being Newcastle's main front man. He ended the day making a
£35 million pound move to North West heavyweights Liverpool. The 22 year old Geordie had left his
home city and his boyhood heroes and set up on a new adventure with 18 times league champions and 5
time European champions Liverpool.

Liverpool continue their preseason preparations with a trip to the KC Stadium, where they'll
work to get up to speed and look to gain momentum ahead of the season opener in three weeks.
There has been a recent large outlay of money for home grown players between English Clubs. In
many peoples view the money exchanged for certain players has been described as ‘excessive'.
Names including James Milner, Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson have all crossed
the £20 million plus threshold.

Looks like the club is already recovering some of that British record transfer fee.

Marketability. The Mirror today has a story regarding the retail madness that has been
Fernando Torres shirt sales. Since the Spanish striker joined Chelsea from Liverpool on Monday
night, the club have reportedly sold a billion No.
The 3-0 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield was completed in sleek, calm and effortless style.
Will it be a Thriller?... The Reds travel to Craven Cottage tomorrow for their Monday night clash
with Mark Hughes' Fulham side. With both teams in pretty good form and Liverpool still
mathematically in a chase for the Champions League, three points is what the lads will be after.
Still out injured for Liverpool are captain Steven Gerrard, Fabio Aurelio, Daniel Agger and Martin
Kelly.
The sudden rise this season of Liverpool's revitalised academy has been a major talking point
around these parts, and with good reason. On the foundation set by Rafa Benitez towards the end of
the 2008-2009 season, Academy Director Frank McParland and former Barcelona youth coaches Pep
Segura and Rodolfo Borrell have overseen a stunning revival, and though it may still be too early
to fully judge their successes, there seems a very real possibility that a golden generation of
Liverpool talent is currently working its way up through the age groups, into the reserves, and
perhaps from there on into the first team.
The list keeps growing, perhaps with everybody thinking that if they keep adding names one's
bound to turn out right sooner or later. And so today we've got a few more highly dubious but
widely reported rumours to add to the heaping pile of possible transfer targets, as well as one
rumour that just about everybody seems to think is going to come true no matter what over the next
few days.
Since Kenny Dalglish took over as manager of Liverpool FC, he has made 3 signings at an
estimated cost of over £70million, yet some people are complaining that we're spending too much on
young players.

I remember thinking that Newcastle United's Managing Director, Derek Llambias, chose his words
quite carefully in the wake of Andy Carroll's £35 million transfer to Liverpool FC, though perhaps
not so carefully in the attack on Alan Shearer that came with it. When defending the decision to
sell Carroll and pack him off in Ashley's [.
Dalglish perhaps felt his side could have performed better... Daglish's side fell to a 3-0 defeat
in the humid Turkish capital tonight. The 90 minutes were certainly no delight for Liverpool and
despite substitutions, the Reds struggled from the onset to threaten Galatasaray. Stewart Downing,
Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson were left out of the trip to Istanbul but keeper Doni got another

With preseason done and Liverpool's new midfield signings all having seen a fair bit of action,
the focus shifts to the forthcoming season and questions of just how the club is going to fit
everybody in as what looks set to be the deepest midfield in years faces a more limited schedule
without European competition for the fist time in a decade.
Old friends reunite at the Emirates, with Kenny Dalglish's side looking to take all three points
from Arsenal at their home ground for the first time since the twenty pixels that make up Titi
Camara's body gave Liverpool the win at Highbury in the 1999-2000 season. Any points against
Arsenal have been hard to come by, but this fixture has been an absolute beast.
Little introduction needed for tomorrow's match, which marks the 216th Merseyside Derby. Last
season's encounter at Goodison was farcical from a Liverpool perspective, with the hosts dominating
the match and deservedly earning a 2-0 victory that sent the Reds into the bottom three. Thankfully
fortunes have changed, but what's sure to be the same is the fiery temperament that's come to be
associated with the match-up, especially in recent years.

Liverpool drop points again at Anfield, failing convert their late surge into a winning goal
against a stubborn Blackburn Rovers side. The return of Steven Gerrard and two late chances got our
hopes up, but in the end it was the same frustrating story we've seen from Liverpool so many times
in the past year.
Wor Andy drinking like a Mackem The Daily Mirror is today claiming that Andy Carroll current thigh
injury has been caused by the England striker falling off a bar stool in a casino when drunk at
5am. I wouldn't wish it on anyone to actually read the story, but obvious to say it includes
ridiculously [.
Reports suggest that Joey Barton is soon to sign a new five and a half year contract with Newcastle
United and Alan Pardew reiterates that Carroll is not for sale. Apparently negotiations are
underway to keep Joey Barton at Newcastle until (pretty much) the end of his playing career. It is
reported that Barton is [.
Newcastle United's Andy Carroll has suffered a setback in his recovery from a torn thigh muscle.
Apparently Andy Carroll is off to Sweden tomorrow to seek specialist help for his thigh from a
world-reknowned doctor (world-reknowned to those who know him well, that is). Carroll is definitely
ruled out of the Fulham game and is [.
It's the day before the transfer window closes and it's a Sunday, which means it's double trouble
from the rumour mill at Newcastle United. The first unsubstantiated rumour of the day is that,
after having their 'paltry' £23m-£25m bid for Andy Carroll rejected, Spurs have been told by
Newcastle that they must bid £30m to [.
Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has been sold to Liverpool for a fee in excess of £30m.
After resisting a number of offers to sell the striker who was apparently not for sale, it seems
that Andy Carroll eventually handed in a transfer request, forcing the club to reluctantly accept
Liverpool's offer.
After what has felt like one of the most boring transfer windows in recent times, the last few
hours have finally managed to stir some excitement among the rumour-hungry football fan contingent,
while instilling a bitter taste in stomachs for others.
Throughout January, one of the big transfer stories circulating the Sky Sports/Sun/Talksport
rumour mill has been Andy Carroll and Harry Redknapp's supposed adoration.
Newcastle United have sold Andy Carroll to Liverpool but questions remain as to exactly what
happened. So what do we actually know about the Andy Carroll situation? We know that Alan Pardew
repeatedly said that Carroll was not for sale. We also know that Mike Ashley turned down at least
two offers from Liverpool for [.
The 2011 English Winter transfer window has certainly been the most intense and highest spending
of all time, today over £120m was exchanged between clubs. The real shock was not Andy Carroll's
transfer but the reported £35m Liverpool paid. That elevated value has
transformed the 22 year old into the most expensive English player and 9th in the world.
Andy Carroll has completed his transfer from Newcastle United to Liverpool FC...
In which we talk at length, briefly, about Torres, Carroll, Liverpool, Chelsea, and... West Ham?

Review of the comings and goings, toings and froings Arsenal Would Wenger be the worst personto
play Football Manager with? No players in in January, a lot now rest onthe shoulders of recently
fringe players Djourou and Sczezny. Fan at the Emirates will be concerned, but not surprised. Aston

The stories that broke just before midday on January 31st 2011 turned out to be the ones
concluded last as Liverpool and Chelsea spent big trying to revive their ailing fortunes. For
Liverpool, the consternation at having lost proven goalscorer may be assuaged by the promise of
Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, two players with an opportunity to prove their potential on the big
stage – and after the Hodgson saga and some stagnation under Benitez, Anfield could once again
become the big stage.
Suarez arrives... Earlier in the season Liverpool fell to a 2-0 defeat at the Britannia but as we
all know, several things have changed since then. With Kenny Dalglish settling in nicely to his new
job and clearly boosting the sides performances in the past few weeks, hopefully this time out
Liverpool can get the better of Stoke.
After a manic January deadline day the fallout has begun on Tyneside following Andy Carroll's
record breaking move to Liverpool.
Carroll sealed his shock transfer to Anfield late last night after ‘handing in' a transfer
request earlier in the day, which resulted in Newcastle ‘reluctantly' accepting Liverpool's crazy
£35m bid.
