An interesting tie awaits at the Stadio Friuli on Saturday afternoon as Udinese play host to
Novara. A quick glance at the table (Udinese are 2nd, Novara 16th) might suggest that this should
be a routine victory for the home side but there are plenty of potential twists that could make the
tie anything but straightforward.
Five goalless draws and an average of just 1.4 goals per game made for Serie A's quietest round of
games yet but there were still a handful of notable performances. Entertaining ties (particularly
at the Stadio Olimpico) resulted in big wins for Lazio, Milan, Bologna and Parma, but Inter's
enduring woe is the real story of the week.
In their tenth season out of the last eleven playing top flight football, ‘the flying donkeys'

Laboured performances against Siena, Bologna and Catania had eroded some of the optimism born from
the opening day's 4-1 thrashing of Parma. The Vecchia Signora took five points from these games but
their displays were arduous: plenty of heart, but little fluidity or panache.
