The final list of players registered for the new Premier League season came out yesterday and there were a whole host of questions being asked about Arsenal's list, not least a paper which said our list was a farce. Before we go through the rights or wrong, here's the list.

It seems every time Arshavin gives an interview in Russia he ends up making headlines back in England. Some hacks have made an art out of translating an odd word out of context and making an issue out of it.

The latest translation we've seen is from an interview with Sport Express. The English media has jumped onto these words,

For the first time Premier League teams had to name a 25-man squad for the first half of the EPL season and there was a couple of surprises.

All 20 clubs had to submit a squad of up to 25 players containing no more than 17 players who do not qualify as homegrown. Homegrown players are classed as players who "irrespective of his nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to the Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons or 36 months prior to his 21st birthday".

On we go trudging through another day without Arsenal. At least it's the long weekend and many of you are probably in cottage country relaxing and enjoying some time off. For the rest of us there are more international games to take in. First let's recap yesterday's events.

Well it turns out Arsenal.

Arsenal continued their winning run, bringing it to 3 on the trot now as we beat Bolton at the Grove. This was predicted to be a difficult game and that is how it turned out to be. The scoreline in the end was slightly flattering for Arsenal despite the numerous chances that were created. Cesc Fabregas was the star of the show as he created 2 goals and probably inadvertently created another.

As I've said in yesterday's post, I thought that Braga is a side which we should be beating but never would I have predicted such a scoreline. Another 6 goals rout by an Arsenal side this season which matches their previous best in the same ground against Blackpool. The win was so complete that Manuel Almunia did not have to do anything the entire night.

After only 5 Premier League games, Arsenal are currently sitting in the 2nd spot in the table. That is just 4 points behind leaders Chelsea and a whopping 10 goals behind them already. It puts us level on points with Manchester United with an advantage of 3 goals extra for us. Slightly behind are Manchester City and Sp*rs, who are both 3 points behind us.

Reserves star Henri Lansbury had given the Gunners the lead in the first half at White Hart Lane, but Robbie Keane equalised just after the interval despite being in a clearly offside position.

This was not an easy game. On this showing it is easy to understand why Partizan Belgrade has been unbeaten in their home stadium for over 3 seasons now. Yet, that only happened when they had 11 men on the field and once they had a defender sent off, it was only one winner in this game and it was Arsenal.

IF Lukasz Fabanski had been able to choose in advance what kind of night he would have, I have no doubt he'd have picked one of those games that enabled him to pull off a trophy save, but otherwise be little called upon.
