coach Frank Klopas did say all of the following: "Drogba?
Chicago Fire Soccer Club owner Andrew Hauptman opened up to a small group of reporters following
Thursday's partnership announcement at Quaker Plaza. Despite the fact that all of his official
business was already taken care of, Hauptman was still around after the media had interviewed
players, Frank Klopas, and MLS personnel.
Thursday's big event at Quaker Plaza, 555 W. Monroe, Chicago, IL marked the first live
presentation of the partnership between Quaker Oats and the Chicago Fire. Chicago Fire Soccer Club
owner Andrew Hauptman, Chicago Fire players, Quaker Foods and Snacks North America president Jose
Luis Prado and Quaker Oats Company employees were all on hand in addition to some other civic
leaders, curious fans, and members of the media.
The Chicago Fire will have Quaker Oats as their jersey sponsor, the club announced on Tuesday.
Chicago last had Best Buy as their front of jersey sponsor. In a press statement, Chicago Fire
president Andrew Hauptman said "It's an honor to partner with a trusted Chicago-based brand like
Quaker Oats that shares the same sense of community as the Chicago Fire.
When Frank Klopas took over as interim head coach of the Chicago Fire back at the end of May, it
appeared as if he would only be leading the club until a permanent solution was found at the end of
the season.
Turns out that permanent solution was him.
On Thursday afternoon, the Chicago Fire took that interim label off of Klopas, making him the
sixth head coach in club history.

PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil (Sept. 20, 2011) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club, in conjunction with
Atletico Madrid, Club América and Sport Club Internacional announced today a strategic alliance
enabling for greater relationships between the Fire and its partner clubs in Spain, Mexico and
Brazil.
The Chicago Fire may be on a three game win streak, but as things stand, the 2011 season has
failed to live up to the Fire's high expectations. Frank Klopas must take the brunt of the blame

founding of the soccer club we call our own.
Fire owner Andrew Hauptman remains optimistic about the club's chances to compete for a playoff
position this season despite the team's 1-4-6 start and feels that under the direction of interim
coach Frank Klopas the team can improve. Hauptman was also complimentary of now former coach Carlos
De Los Cobos although his hiring ultimately did not work out.
It is almost never a mistake for a team to fire a coach. It's like a relationship - once it gets to
the point where you're seriously asking whether you should break up, you should probably break
up.
The mistake almost always ends up being the choice of replacement. In many cases, the choice could
end up being so poor that it calls into question the original decision to can the previous coach.
As of 12:00 AM CST, Saturday, May 21st, 2011 the Nery Castillo Chicago Fire era officially came
to an end. The reports that the Fire would not be exercising the option to complete a permanent
transfer came out earlier this week but it was already a forgone conclusion. Castillo never fit
into the organization.
