Who should the US face in their group?
Purely on a motivational level, the best seeded team that the USA could draw would be Italy.
Again.
To go up against a team who has had its share of refereeing controversies and literally bad
blood that have helped it win is huge motivation.

Italy is another country that was very happy with todays draw as they got Paraguay, New Zealand
and Slovakia in their group. The Italians are famous for starting slowly in a tournament but that
should not be an issue here. Italy wins this group easily and Slovakia edges Paraguay for 2nd.

Italy sealed the chance to defend their world title in South Africa in dramatic fashion,
equalising in the last minute in Ireland to snatch a 2-2 draw and top spot in Group Eight.
A new study done by Adidas shows that altitude at the World Cup will have an impact of up to
five percent on a ball's speed.
That means, according to the study, that a free kick from 20 metres during the final at the
Soccer City stadium in high altitude Johannesburg (5700 feet) will reach the goal line five percent
faster than it would at the Moses Mabhida stadium in sea level Durban.
All month I've been seeing these "Top _____ of the Decade" posts all over the Offside, so I
thought with 2010 just around the corner it's time to unveil the list of the top 20 Italian players
of the decade (2000-2009). For this list I considered any player that played a season from
2000-2009, but naturally they have to have made a big impact to be on this list.
Merry Christmas to all....Been working long hours, so my blog has suffered from my absence. The
blogging football world may have benefited though..:).
Dominic Raynor and the writers at Soccernet.com have selected their team of the departing
decade.Click the link if your interested.
