Fellow arsophiles, I want to pose a simple question:
In a season of ups and downs, false dawns and unexpected revivals, which Arsenal player
has turned out to be the biggest surprise package (in a positive way)?
I'm not talking about the likes of Vermaelen and van Persie, of whom we all expected great
things.
Welcome to your Weekly Football wrap! From the looks of it, the
Valencianos are all ready to celebrate their traditional Fallas festival
by burning these "ninots" (puppets) of Jose Mourinho and
Barca's assistant coach, Tito Vilanova at the celebration on March 19.
New signings were exactly what Arsenal needed to successfully manage the challenges of the
English top flight this season but left-back Kieran Gibbs argues that the arrival of new faces at
the Emirates this season also led to a period of transition.
Gibbs, who was immediately chosen as the replacement for Manchester City-bound Gael Clichy last
summer, saw his side hammered 8-2 by defending champions Manchester United seven months ago,
leading manager Arsene Wenger to spend uncharacteristically on the transfer deadline day.
Arsenal's summer signing, Andre Santos revealed that after few months playing in the
premiership, the left back finally adapted to life in London, stating his joy of being treated
wonderfully by the staffs and also fans, urging him to try and make history at Emirates.
The left back also feels the need to repay all of those who immediately puts faith on him,
despite there have been many questions regarding his quality especially since he only came from
Turkey league.
Arsenal's summer signing Andre Santos has revealed that he has been thrilled with the treatment
he has received from everyone at the club and has chosen the Gunners faithful for special praise
after recently returning from a long injury spell.
Brazil international Santos, signed from Fenerbahce seven months ago, briefly showed glimpses of
his talent before being sidelined towards the end of 2011.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits that the somewhat excessive five minutes of added time at the
end of yesterday's 3-2 win at West Bromwich Albion were tremendously stressful and that he is
considering the possibility of suing referee Mike Jones.
Wenger was thrilled that his side managed to end the turbulent 2011-12 season on a high note
despite a lot of drama unfolding on the final day itself.
There's something beautifully eerie about Arsenal's Emirates stadium when it experiences a night
of snowfall. It almost looks like a scene out of the Twilight Zone and the colour
of the sky just takes you to a different place. What are these goose pimples? Bring back
November, please!
Whilst OTP doesn't condone the throwing of missiles onto the pitch, we are still a little bit

Support on the way
Friday and it still hurts a little that we did not qualify for the next phase of the Champions
League. But it's best we put that disappointment on the side and concentrate on the positives.
We're on a small run now, small run of victories. Only 3 consecutive matches won on the trot but
big wins each one of them.

Andre Santos and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have no doubts that their Arsenal side can go from
relative anonymity at the beginning of this year to being crowned champions at the end of next
season.
Santos and Oxlade-Chamberlain arrived last summer to join a Gunners squad that lost the services
of Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri to Manchester City, and former skipper Cesc Fabregas to
Barcelona.
Morning all. It's still pretty quiet despite the fact that we play QPR tomorrow. That should all
change when Arsene meets the press later on in his usual pre-game press conference.
As yet there's no team news but I'm hoping no news is good news as far as that goes. The only
player we have any real concern about is Laurent Koscielny who has spent the week having his knee
knack looked at.
Being kicked a few times won't stop Sagna from playing
The last time we faced a team in the relegation zone, we lost. This time around, the gap is even
bigger. It was 3rd against 18th then, today it's 3rd against 20th. Wolverhampton Wonderers are the
opponent for tonight and given the form that both teams are in and the position of both clubs, this
should really be nothing other than a win for Arsenal.
Morning all. A few bits and pieces from yesterday's press conference and beyond to get us
going.
We'll start with Arsene Wenger declaring football to be too conservative when it comes to
introducing video technology. The manager reckons it's high time we sorted this out to provide an
aid to referees who, due to the fact they're not robots, will make mistakes and miss things.

Arsenal left-back Andre Santos has made it clear that he is now feeling complete settled in
London and has attributed much of his comfort at the club to the relationships he has developed
with teammates off the field.
After gradually making a successful transition from a deadline-day signing to the team's
starting left-back, Santos famously scored in the 5-3 derby win away to Chelsea in October.
With a summer of wild speculation about Robin Van Persie's future at Arsenal ahead, it's
refreshing to learn that we do have players who love the club unequivocally and are committed to
the cause. Of course, there is every chance RVP will sign a new deal and secure a long future at
the Emirates and who can fault our main man?
What he really wants. Trophies, not a return to Holland
After knowing that he has won the award for almost a week now, Robin Van Persie finally went to
receive it. During the glittering ceremony, RvP also spoke about his love for Arsenal Football
Club. The headline in that link will read as "but that doesn't mean he'll stay".
Today an acquaintance asked after Arsenal's weekend opponents. After I explained the
significance of this afternoon's match he said "why worry, it is only a football game." Firstly,
this shows a total misunderstanding of the Raddy psyche, but more to the point, it indicates a lack
of understanding of the nature of importance.

Rice gets the right send off
The season ended last night. We achieved what we set out to do at the start of the day. That is
to secure the third place and get ourselves into that Champions League pot next season. Though we
didn't quite do it in the fashion that we preferred but we merely added to the drama that has been
the final day of the Premier League season.
Welcome, my fellow Gunners, to another year in which we faithful worshippers have been
privileged to celebrate our favourite Saint's Day.
And why is St Totteringham's Day our favourite holy occasion?
Well, I believe it's because it combines all the qualities of the other, lesser, Saints' Days
that we mark throughout the year.
