This is just plain gruesome. Watch how Standard Liege player Alex Witsel goes over the ball and
deliberately stamps on Anderlecht man Marcin Wasylewski's leg and essentially snaps his leg in two.
This is probably as bad as the Eduardo incident of a couple of years ago. Now this kind of
challenge deserves a six month ban and I would imagine Wasylewski's career must be over after such
a challenge.
The Guadiana Tournament in Algarve this summer has been announced. The tournament will be held

season will not be in this seasons tournament as they try to qualify for the Champions League Group

'Tis the season to lay down the law, so big boys UEFA and bigger boys Belgian FA have laid down
some serious justice in the wake of some serious crimes. Have you heard about the Eduardo dive? No?
Congratulations on waking up from that coma today, then. It's becoming nauseating, so while appeals
will surely be [.
Manchester City midfielder Vincent Kompany has revealed he was set to sign for arch rivals United -
but his mother ruled it out. Instead she insisted he stay in his native Belgium and finish his
education. That was six years ago when the then 17-year-old Kompany had already tasted Champions
League football with Anderlecht.
Along with Club Brugge, RSC Anderlecht, another Belgian football side, have also revealed their new
2009-10 home shirt. The New Anderlecht 2009-10 Home Shirt is white in colour, and is manufactured
by Adidas. We have BNP Paribas as the new shirt sponsors, with the familiar Fortis name just below
the BNP text.
With yesterday's opening of the secondary MLS transfer window, several teams are using the
opportunity to take a look at new players that could help them down the stretch run. Here's a brief
rundown of the trialists currently known to MLS Daily.
The reigning MLS Cup champions Columbus Crew have brought in 32-year-old forward Papy Kimoto for a
rather informal trial, according to Covering The Crew's Shawn Mitchell.
Anderlecht's Marcin Wasilewski had his leg completely annihilated by Standard Liege's Axel Witsel
this Sunday.
Oguchi Onyewu and Standard Liege won their game against Gent yesterday, earning a playoff with
Anderlecht for the Belgian League title. What we didn't point out yesterday was the late drama in
Liege's victory. Well, here it is:
As you can see in the video, Gooch gave away a penalty in injury time of the second half with Liege
leading 1-0.
This probably should have happened a long time ago. But it's finally happening now. Standard
Liege's American defender Oguchi Onyewu (pictured) is suing Anderlecht's Jelle van Damme for
(allegedly) racially abusing him, during the first leg of the Belgian title playoff. Onyweu claims
van Damme called him a "dirty monkey", which the Belgian defender denies.
Jozy Altidore looks like he will be playing in England this upcoming season, just where remains
to be seen.
Altidore revealed his plans to head to England on Wednesday to finalize a move via Twitter,
stating "England early in the morning so im going to get some sleep."
So where is he headed?
Arsenal's path back to the UEFA Champions League has a tough first hurdle in the form of
Scottish giants Celtic.
The British clubs were drawn against each other in the UEFA Champions League fourth round draw
on Friday. Here are some of the other high-profile match-ups:
A large number of Premier League clubs are said to be interested in the services of Lucas Biglia.
Anderlecht star Biglia is now a holder of a European passport which has added a host of English
clubs to the list of teams previously interested in signing him. Reports in the Belgian press are
suggesting that Anderlecht want [.
It was a busy weekend for Americans Abroad with Oguchi Onyewu and Carlos Bocanegra scoring goals
for their respective clubs. Tim Howard earned another clean sheet while Clint Dempsey and Fulham
defeated Brad Friedel and Aston Villa. Maurice Edu played for Rangers in the "Old Firm" as they
defeated Celtic, and Zak Whitbread played for Millwall who's in the English League One promotion
playoffs.
This man will be wearing a different black outfit shortly.
Thanks to Lenny for sending the official announcement over.
From the D.C. United Front Office, the team announced today the club has acquired defender David
Habarugira. Habarugira completed a trial with the team earlier this summer and will join the
Black-and-Red this weekend.
The UEFA Champions League begins its last round of qualifying before the Group Stage. The most
notable matchup is Celtic v Arsenal but contains many other interestings. In the United States, the
TV broadcastings rights are now with Fox Soccer Channel instead of ESPN. Matches will be shown on
FSC as well as other Fox cable channels including Fox Sports Net.
Lisandro Lopez showed off for his new team of Lyon & Maradona yesterday with a hat trick against
Anderlecht. Before his call up to the Argentine national team, he was probably one of the most
underrated top strikers in Europe while he played for the Portuguese champions of Porto. Now he has
Europe's & Maradona's full attention and he is not wasting any time.
I'm being completely serious when I say don't even watch this. It's truly horrifying and will
probably make you cry.
Anderlecht's Axel Witsel earned a much deserved red card for snapping the leg of Standard
Liege's Marcin Wasilewski and basically ruining his life on Sunday. The expression of sheer terror
and shock as Wasilewski's face as he looks down at his crazy straw leg is something that will
molest your nightmares for days.

This guy is now retired and a magician. Not really. Poor Jurgen Sierens, Roeselare's goalkeeper,
let a stupid one in againts Anderlecht for the Belgian championship. It happens to all of us.
Before we move on to the poll, check out the above bit of drama from Belgium's First Division. Top
two teams Anderlecht and Standard Liege were level on points and level on games won (the first
tie-breaker in Belgium) going into the final day of the season. So if Anderlecht and Standard both
won their final [.
Liverpool mounted a €22m bid, which was then firmly swatted away by Aurelio De Lorentiis with a
Dikembe Mutumbo finger wag, for Argentinian wild child Ezequiel Lavezzi. Excuse me, that's
twice-capped Argentinian wild child Ezequiel Lavezzi. Can we take a moment and ponder how filthily
good Argentina's attack will be in the coming years?
- Maurice Edu and Rangers try to sew up the SPL league title Dundee Utd. Here's a link -
http://www.freedocast.com/forms/PopOut.aspx?sc=427231E3213910A1 - if you want to watch it live. A
Rangers win will give them the crown.
- Oguchi Onyewu and Standard Liege face Anderlecht in the second leg of the playoffs in
Belgium.
Oguchi Onyewu's Standard Liege won a two-game playoff series against Anderlecht to take the Belgian
title, while Rangers won the Scottish Premier League. Meanwhile, Millwall remains in League 1 after
losing their playoff final to Scunthorpe United. Standard Liege 1 - Anderlecht 0 In what was likely
Oguchi Onyewu's last game for Liege, the club won their second consecutive Jupiler League title.
In its fifth match in European Cups, Sivasspor has suffered a disappointing defeat against
Anderlecht. With 5 new players in the squad, and the injuries of Mehmet Yildiz and Sezer Badur,
Sivasspor has shown signs of extreme lack of discipline and organization. Especially the Australian
goalkeeper Petkovic made crucial mistakes and the team failed to produce goal chances.
Well, it is still an unconfirmed rumor at this point, but supposedly Rosicky aggravated his
hamstring injury and will be out up to 6 weeks. I will update this post when this rumor is either
dispelled or confirmed.
But if it's true, it's really troubling, because it signals that Rosicky's injury is going to be
a recurring injury, and that we're probably not going to be able to rely upon him as a regular for
this season.
Well, it's Celtic. Celtic have some history in the event, winning with the famous "Lisbon Lions"
a team comprised of all homegrown Scottish players in 1967. They made it to the finals again in
1970.
Recently, though, the club hasn't fared quite as well they've gotten bounced out of the group
stages numerous times, and have squeaked by into the knockout rounds a few times.
So the draw has just been done and Arsenal have been drawn with none other than Celtic f.c.
After much hype from Sky sports all week along with BBC sport; arsenal can be drawn with celtic,
Arsenal to be drawn with celtic, arsenal and celtic can possibly meet i find it sooo predictable
and quite annoying that we have got celtic.
In some years the final round of Champions League Playoff can be almost a bore, but this year that
could be different with one tie Arsenal vs. Celtic. The team that drops this tie could be in
financial trouble. Both clubs count on the Champions League group stage money in order to fund
their spending, so going out before that stage could be a mess for both.
Okay, the headline may be a bit over-the-top but this has to be the worst tackle of the
season... the video is pretty gruesome too, so you have been warned...
It happened during a bad-tempered match between Anderlecht and Standard Liege, ending in a 1-1
draw. Needless to say, Axel Witsel received a straight red card for his actions.
While the Aughts have been full of speculation/proposal about the Old Firm joining the EPL, the
90's was about the Old Firm joining what was dubbed as the Atlantic League. It was a joint proposal
from the big clubs in the Netherlands, Scotland and Portugal. ESPN is reporting that there may be
another attempt at this break away league, which would involve the aforementioned clubs along with
Belgium and the Scandinavian clubs.
Liverpool FC secured its first trophy of the season in Spain at the weekend, but it was on the
track rather than on the pitch.
A motorsport team backed and financed by the English soccer club won the 2009 Superleague Formula
title, seeing off the challenge of Tottenham Hotspur. Liverpool's driver, Adrian Valles, secured a
fourth-place finish in the final race, won by Anderlecht, to take the series.
The names of the clubs who have claimed multiple UEFA Champions League Football titles are the
stuff of footballing legend. Clubs like Manchester United, AC Milan, Liverpool and Real Madrid are
recognised as the greatest on the planet partially because of their exploits in the Champions
League, and their ability to come out on top [.
Oguchi Onyewu scored two goals during Standard Liege's 3-0 win over Mouscron yesterday. Gooch
snatched the first and third goals of the game as Liege remained three points ahead of Anderlecht
at the top of the Belgian league table.
Ireneusz Jelen scored yet another goal in the French Ligue 1. Marcin Wasilewski became
Anderlecht's third best scorer after netting his eighth goal of the season. Pawel Brozek had a
brace at the weekend and is close to winning both the Polish championship with Wisla and the golden
boot for himself.
[Photo: PhotoNews]As a sad note from last night's Anderlecht-Standard match, we must now crack open
the unbelievable asshole files (Dutch link): it seems that during the contest, Mauves defender
Jelle Van Damme thrice called U.S. defender Oguchi Onyewu a 'dirty ape'.If you can
understand/follow French, here is a video interview with the Standard center back.
It was a big day for a trio of U.S. national teamers in Europe. In additional to their formal
invitation to the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, DaMarcus Beasley, Maurice Edu and Oguchi Onyewu
have also been crowned league champions! In Scotland, Rangers captured their 52nd league title with
a 3-0 victory against Dundee United.
This photo shows much happier times for U.S. national team defender Oguchi Onyewu, who is seen
celebrating Standard Liege's Belgian League championship, which was won by defeating Anderlecht in
a playoff.
It was during that same playoff series that Onyewu alleges that Anderlecht defender Jelles Van
Damme uttered a racial slur at Onyewu.
Fancy a trip to Germany? How about Italy? Spain is pretty nice this time of year!
Either Stuttgart, Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid, Celtic, Anderlecht, Timisoura, or Dinamo Moscow
stand in the way of our progression to the Champions League pwoper (as Danny Dyer or Jonathon Ross
would say).
There are some big names there but at the end of the day I'm sure the team that most of those clubs
would want to avoid drawing is Arsenal.
A busy day at Offside HQ, and whole boat load of stuff to talk about. Strap in.
- First and foremost, roster moves. The long rumored, and now finally finalized move for David
Habaruguira, defender from Anderlecht in the Netherlands. He had throughly impressed Tom Soehn,
enough that he had this to say,
"He is pretty versatile, pretty polished," Soehn said.
