Ahmad Latiff has turned down a chance to stay with SAFFC and decided to return to Tampines Rovers.
Latiff has been in fine form this last 18 months and could be considered unfortunate not to have
been considered for the national team who were crying out for some creativity during the recent AFF
Cup.
Tampines, on the other hand, are in need of attacking options having lost Khairul Amri and Qiu Li.
SHORT SCRIBE OF THE MATCH
One thing I know for sure, many of the 5,000 odd crowds at the Jalan Besar Stadium were first-timer
(judging from the way they asked for the direction, the ignorance of banning water-bottles and
drink cans on the match day).
And one more particular sight of the night was the sizable "Man Utd" supporters turned out to
support the local team, which I thought was a pleasant sight (although, I came to realize it was
because the Red Devils were once defeated by the Clarets which they would love to see the Singapore
side avenge for their beloved team).

Thailand opened their King's Cup campaign against Singapore, at the King's 80th Birthday
Anniversary Stadium, in the City of Korat. The Stadium looked packed, and the atmosphere was
electric. It certainly made a change from playing in a half empty Rajamangala Stadium!
The first fixture of the day was Poland vs Denmark, with the Danes winning 3-1.
I must admit to being quite excited about the new season in Singapore which began last night. Not
because of the new foreign teams which fill me with as much excitement as a trip to the dentist,
but rather among the more established clubs.
SIngapore Armed Forces of course have dominated the title over the last few seasons and will be
strong favourites in the new campaign.
After naming 25 players to his provisional roster, Algeria coach Rabah Saadane added five more to
bring his total to the standard 30. Algeria, who are due to play warm-up games against Ireland in
Dublin and the United Arab Emirates, will open against Slovenia on June 12 and face the U.S. in the
last game of the group phase on June 23.
While the rest of the league adjourned for the YOG break, the national team players are not, as
they are gearing up for the two main tournaments scheduled at the end of the year - The Asian Games
in November and the AFF Suzuki Cup.
Just before they embark for their trip to Bangkok for the upcoming friendly against Thailand on the
11th of August, coach Raddy and the Lions undergo another session at their Geylang Field training
base.
SINGAPORE, 11 August 2010: A first half strike Thailand striker, Sarayoot Chaikamdee was enough
to see off a determined Singapore team 1-0 in an international friendly match played at the Yamaha
Stadium in Bangkok.
On 29 minutes, a neat passing move by the Thai midfield eventually sent the ball to the way of
Sarayoot, who still had plenty to do.
Ioannis Amanatidis Nets For Frankfurt In A 4-Nil Win.
The DFB Pokal has begun in exciting fashion with Bundesliga sides Kaiserslautern and Frankfurt
battling for victory.
Kaiserslautern played their opening game against VfL Osnabruck, a team from Germany's third
division after being relegated from the second division last season.
Following Persiba's interested in Tampines Rovers and Singaporean striker Khairul Amri now comes
news that a second Indonesian team, Persisam, have thrown their hat into the ring.
Amri has been highly rated fr a number of years in Singapore but has been recently plagued by
injuries.
Persiba Balikpapan's search for a striker goes on. South Korean Park Chan Young has failed to
impress in trials while there is uncertainty over whether Chinese striker Du Ping will arrive.
Coach Junaidi favours Singaporean striker Khairul Amri, currently with Tampines Rovers in the
SLeague.
Tampines Rovers striker Khairul Amri is flying to Balikpapan to undergo a medical with a view to
signing for Persiba.
If the deal goes through he will be the third player from the SLeague to make the move to Indonesia
in the last few weeks following Goran Subara to PSM and Shahril Ishak to Persib.
Tampines Rovers 6-1 Balestier Khalsa (aggregate score)
It was a farewell match for Lions striker Khairul Amri (pictured above on the extreme right in the
Stags' customary post-match debriefing after defeating Balestier 3-1 at the Toa Payoh Stadium.)
Fortunate thing for the nippy forward was that while he scored his final goal for the Stags at the
stroke of half time, he did not earn himself a booking like both Noh Alam Shah and Shahril Ishak
did when scored their farewell goal - took off their jersey in celebration.

Home United FC 31 18 9 4 54 30 24 63
Tampines Rovers 30 18 6 6 59 27 32 60
Tonight sees Tampines Rovers try to keep their dreams of SLeague glory alive as they face Geylang
United in the less than firey East Coast derby and, rather like last season when DPMM were forced
to withdraw by the Swiss bully boys, there is an anti climatic feel to the end of the season.
There may only be a handful of Singaporeans playing in the Indonesia Super League but they are sure
having an impact.
Baihakki Khaizan welcomed Khairul Amri to Indonesia at the Siliwangi Stadium with a scything tackle
that saw Persib's new defender get a yellow from the ref while his compatriot rolled around in the
mud for a while, getting his shirt dirty and wondering why he hadn't moved here earlier.
Introduction
The TODAY's exclusive on the 16th December ('S-League needs major surgery') seems to have triggered
a wide range of discussions on the flaws on the local football.
A break from past template of reviewing the events of the past year, I selected a few topics that
caught my attention and blogged my thoughts on them instead.
