If Brad Guzan retains his spot in Aston Villa's starting lineup this weekend, we are in for a treat.

Guzan and the Villans host Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and Everton on Saturday in arguably the biggest match-up involving Americans this weekend.

Herculez Gomez has a sick mind.

It may have been mere consolation in a 2-1 loss at Chivas, but Herculez Gomez used his brainpan to doubly great effect by conjuring this 77th minute strike. It was not only his first goal since joining the club prior to this Clausura, but also one of the nastiest headers I've seen in a long time. Basically, he chipped the keeper with a volley - using his noggin.

Guess who. (updated again)

Clint Dempsey has just put Fulham up 2-1 on Newcastle at the hour. Try to contain your surprise.UPDATE: Make it two for Deuce and a 3-1 Fulham lead after he buckets a slip pass from 15 on 65 minutes. If you're keeping score, that makes his: third against Newcastle this season, his ninth in the last 11 games overall, his eighth in league play this term and 13th across all competitions (matching

It's the worst-kept soccer secret in the English-speaking world, but somehow nobody has officially announced yet. Here's the skinny: Tim Ream's Bolton deal - now fully done and approved - will keep him at the Reebok until the summer of 2015.I'm sure eventually these two clubs will admit what we already know and have a jersey picture party or something.

Days after his head coach cited a lack of progress as a reason for his benching, Jozy Altidore responded in a big way.

In his first start for AZ Alkmaar in 2012, Altidore bagged a brace in the club's 3-3 draw with Heerenveen. Altidore scored the game's opener when he received the ball with his back to goal, turned and fired a shot to the near post.

It's not all that surprising that an American scored at Goodison Park on Wednesday. After all, Everton's match against Bolton marked Landon Donovan's return to the Toffees. Thing is, Donovan wasn't the one to find the back of the net.

In open play, goalkeeper Tim Howard unleashed a long kick from his own box that took a perfect bounce from about 25 yards out and got carried by a furious wind over Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan into the goal.

Ha! Tim Ream's wife Kristen should know by now American soccer nuts are a skittish type. Here's the just-confirmed skinny: All agreements are in place for the move to Bolton. After coming on as a 79th-minute substitute, Rogers clashed heads with Doncaster Rovers' Tommy Spurr on a 50-50 ball and had to be taken off in stoppage time.

As some of our commentors pointed out during the voting, it seemed a bit one-sided. Not just because of their own qualifications, but the over-whelming case that could be made for Sir Deuce.
With nearly 40 goals for Fulham in the English Premier League and counting Clint Dempsey has made the biggest splash of any American aboard, ever.

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is keeping his options open in terms of who to start between the goal posts on a permanent basis as a result of Guzan's string of strong performances since filling in for Given since early December.
