There has been some discussion recently about the number of American players employed abroad, but not currently playing. For examples, see Sounder at Heart's article and Match Fit USA's discussion of it. Both provide a good analysis, but we'd like to add a few points to this discussion.

While most of us can agree that Freddy Adu would benefit from moving back to the MLS and getting some consistent playing time, it's not always in a player's best interest to jump ship when things get shaky.

We're very late on this one...but just in case you missed it, while we were on break from the blogging world on September 3rd, to be exact Sebastian Lletget turned 18 and signed a professional contract with West Ham. You can read all about it here.

For those of you who have forgotten Lletget, he's the talented 17-year-old 18-year-old Italian-American midfielder who passed on residency in Bradenton to train in the Hammers' youth system.

Still having odd troubles with my account here, but I managed to get in to post Alejandro Bedoya's winning strike, which took all of 16 seconds. Unfortunately, the U.S. international was later sent off for a second yellow, but the 1-0 victory over Kalmar sent Örebro five points clear for the final Europa League invite with five to play.
