There has been some discussion recently about the number of American players employed abroad,
but not currently playing. For examples, see Sounder at Heart's article and Match Fit USA's
discussion of it. Both provide a good analysis, but we'd like to add a few points to this
discussion.
While most of us can agree that Freddy Adu would benefit from moving back to the MLS and getting
some consistent playing time, it's not always in a player's best interest to jump ship when things
get shaky.
I saw that listing on Denmark Craigslist today, not long after AGF ace Benny Feilhsber bagged his
fifth goal in three games with a stunning last gasp free kick to beat Koge 3-2.Matty has the clip.-

AGF midfielder Benny Feilhaber has bagged a hat trick, with two of the goals coming from the spot,
to see his side past Ekstra Bladet Cup foes Skive. Highlights are forthcoming, but may not be up
until tomorrow. One goal we aren't likely to see is the one by Helmond Sport handyman Charles
Kazlauskas in last night's KNVB Cup loss at Veendam.
Soccer America has posted an article with an update on Charlie Davies' comeback. He seems to be
progressing slower than initially thought, and is currently struggling to contribute to Sochaux's
reserves in the fourth division.
Sochaux coach Francis Gillot said, "Charlie is still very far from achieving his level.

Benny Feilhaber just cannot be stopped.
Having scored four goals in the past seven days, Feilhaber continued his tear with AGF Aarhus on
Sunday as he assisted on two goals and scored a clutch game-winner in a 3-2 victory over Koge.
Clint Dempsey scored his first goal of the Premiership campaign on Saturday, netting a
second-half equalizer to keep Fulham on its unbeaten start to the season.
Earning his third start of the season in Fulham's 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers, Dempsey
rescued a point for the Cottagers by heading home a cross from new teammate Carlos Salcido.
We're very late on this one...but just in case you missed it, while we were on break from the
blogging world on September 3rd, to be exact Sebastian Lletget turned 18 and signed a professional
contract with West Ham. You can read all about it here.
For those of you who have forgotten Lletget, he's the talented 17-year-old 18-year-old
Italian-American midfielder who passed on residency in Bradenton to train in the Hammers' youth
system.

Alejandro Bedoya may have scored an early game-winner for Orebro SK on Tuesday, but his day did
not end as well as it started.
Bedoya enjoyed a dream start in Orebro's match against Kalmar on Tuesday by scoring a goal in
the first minute of the 1-0 affair.

The next chapter in DaMarcus Beasley's career is set to begin.
Fresh off of playing in three friendlies last week, one of which he scored in, Beasley will be
aiming to make his official Hannover 96 debut when the club does battle with Bayer Leverkusen.

Tim Howard and Everton may not have defeated Manchester United, but their 3-3 draw against the
Premiership heavyweights surely felt like a victory nonetheless.
After falling behind 3-1 in the second half, Everton managed to claim a point through two late
goals from Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta.

the proprietor makes detailed touch charts for individual performances. This post covers Mo Edu's
showing against Man United on Tuesday.
Jozy Altidore started and played 90 minutes for Villarreal in their 2-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in
Europa League action in Croatia.
Altidore didn't have any clear-cut scoring chances, but he did draw a handful of free kicks and
was one of Villarreal's more active players.
What did you think of Altidore's performance today?

United States or Mexico?
For one American born player, the decision is not as simple as just choosing a national
team.
Chivas de Guadalajara's American-born defender Miguel Angel Ponce has an interesting choice
ahead of him. Born in America and raised in Mexico, the left back has risen through the ranks at
one of Mexico's largest clubs.

Stuart Holden has enjoyed a strong start to the season, but if he is to make it even more
impressive by opening his scoring abroad account this weekend, he'll have to do it against a fellow
American.

Benny Feilhaber accomplished something this weekend that he's only done once before in his
career: he scored a goal at the club level.
[Photo: AGF]Try to say that fast five times... heh.On Friday, Ryan Guy hit a sweet opener as St.
Pats ousted FAI Cup holders Sporting Fingal from the draw with a 3-1 defeat. We do not yet have a
clip for that, but...AGF midfielder Benny Feilhaber's spot kick near the hour rescued a point for
the league pacesetters in their 1-1 draw with Hobro, and we do have that reel.
Dempsey's goal is around the 1.:40 mark.

Benny Feilhaber is on fire.
Just three days after scoring his second career goal at the club level, Feilhaber netted a
hat-trick in AGF Aarhus' 6-3 overtime victory against Skive in the fourth round of the Danish Cup
on Wednesday.

If Michael Bradley is to help Borussia Moenchengladbach break their recent string of dreadful
performances, he'll likely have to outdo a fellow American central midfielder that he could play
alongside next month.
Michael Bradley scored his first goal of the Bundesliga season in Borussia Moenchengladbach's
2-2 draw against Schalke 04 on Saturday, and he did so with one of his patented runs into the
box.
With Moenchengladbach leading 1-0, Bradley doubled the lead with a deep run that started in his
own half before finishing off a nice passing sequence with a left-footed effort to the far
post.

Meant to have this up earlier, but the ol' blog system has been quite screwy this week (also cost
me posting A few things on Thursday)... in any event, Herc Gomez applied the fortuitous capper in
Pachuca's 3-1 win over Tecos on Saturday night. Here is the pudding (goal play starts past the 1:20
mark):- Greg Seltzer
Still having odd troubles with my account here, but I managed to get in to post Alejandro Bedoya's
winning strike, which took all of 16 seconds. Unfortunately, the U.S. international was later sent
off for a second yellow, but the 1-0 victory over Kalmar sent Örebro five points clear for the
final Europa League invite with five to play.
