Over a one month stretch, Sammy Ochoa and Seattle Sounders FC will face three teams from Mexico.
Two of those matches are merely preseason tuneups for the more significant two-leg CONCACAF
Champions League matchup against Santos Laguna. For Ochoa, in his first preseason with Seattle, he
has a little extra motivation to succeed against teams in a league where regular playing time and
success were limited.
I thought I'd take "Soccer By The Numbers" literally for a change. How? For years, Google has been
busy digitizing books and printed materials, and they've been going back into historical archives.
So now, researchers (and, well, anyone with access to a computer, like me) can search for words or
phrases that have occurred in print over the past several hundred years, give or take.

It seems that in the interest of improving league broadcasts, Major League Soccer's broadcasting
department has set up a Twitter account specifically for TV-related feedback. Under the name
@MLSonTV, the account appeared yesterday with a call for any and all opinions fans might have on
the way the league is presented on the magic box - from announcers to the use of replay.
