Our long-running series on player development in the USA continues with the unlikely story of Jorge
Flores. He is the 18-year-old Mexican-American who won Univision's "American Idol"-like
tryout "Sueño MLS."
As The New York Times writes, Flores "was the most valuable player for his team at Anaheim
High and played for a club team in nearby Santa Ana.
It appears that the New England Revolution has taken a bit of a different approach toward signing
the majority of their rookies this MLS preseason.
Instead of procuring their services in writing early in preseason training, the club bypassed the
entire process and simply awarded each frosh the title of "trialist".

Sin duda esta imagen en tercera dimensión esta llamativa y bien hecha merecedora de un post en
esta locura del Super Bowl con todo y ridículo incluido de
Ines Gomez Mont.
Courtesy of my dude Connor, it's the video you've all been waiting for; Benny Feilhaber sings the
hits of Jordin Sparks. You sir are no American Idol, but hey maybe that's a good thing because
those kids all have nose-divish career trajectories. Where are Big Ruben, Clay Aiken, and that one
kid with the Sideshow Bob haircut now?
Which appears to be some English "American Idol". That Simon dude tipped me off.
And if you look closely at 0:50, our favorite WAG appears to tear up over some emotional story I'm
sure my English readers will never see.
News is the Hollywood star will team up with the Zeppelin legend in the Beijing closing
ceremonies.
It's kinda like an honorary hand-over since London will host the next Michael Phelps party Summer
Olympics.
Some girl named Leona Lewis, who won some British 'American Idol' thingy, is also gonna be there.
Yes, you've read correctly: I am back in school!
Yesterday evening, I attended my first college-credit course since my graduation from RIC in 2004.
I have to admit, though I was somewhat nervous about the prospect of going back to school, I was
also very enthusiastic about being back at the alma mater for the same schoolin' I despised in my
early-20s.
Thank God for USA-Mexico on Wednesday night.
After last night's Super Bowl debacle (I'm a hurting Patriots fan right now), I needed something
else to look forward to. Anything. Groundhog's Day had already passed. The Anniversary of the
Constitution? Just not enough. Sigh. But lo, and behold, USA-Mexico to the rescue, and with that, I
can wipe away the tears and suffocate the heartache with a nice little rivalry match in less than
72 hours.
