Last night's edition of American Idol contained a big surprise for Liverpool-born contestant Hollie Cavanagh, who was sent a good luck message by Jamie Carragher and the Liverpool FC team.

Hollie was delighted by the well wishing, which appeared to have been recorded when the team were suited and booted at the FA Cup semi-final.

Hollie Cavanagh's bid for the title of American Idol got a huge boost last night, when Jamie Carragher and his teammates sent her a good luck message from across the pond.

Hollie, who lived in Allerton, Liverpool before her parents moved to Texas ten years ago, was seemingly overwhelmed when Ryan Seacrest introduced Carra before her performance, although it's not entirely clear whether the majority of the audience understood what he said.

Paul Parker, former England, Fulham and QPR full back, is thought to be involved at some level. He has been kicking round the region for a couple of years now and was behind a failed bid from Darwin in Australia.
