Seattle Sounders head coach Sigi Schmid believes it is great for American soccer that former USA
national team boss Bob Bradley is being considered for jobs abroad.
The 53-year olds five-year tenure in charge of the US team was recently ended when US Soccer
replaced him with Juergen Klinsmann but there has been no shortage of interest in his services with
the Egypt national team and some clubs in Mexico showing curiosity.
The Seattle Sounders returned to practice for the first time since their US Open Cup Semifinal
win over FC Dallas. Extraordinary weather welcomed them back to the packed Starfire Sports Complex
(Labor Day Youth Cup, as well as Sounders pre-Academy game three). The primary concern of practice
were 9 a side scrimmages of a 1st, 2nd and 3rd team with the one not playing doing finishing drills
on the far field.
Maybe American coaches do have more of a tactical acumen than we get credit for around the
world.
Tony Edwards writes of the success of American coaches in MLS over in Mexico during the CONCACAF
Champions League.
In Bayern Munich and Germany captain Philip Lahm's new book, The Fine Difference, United States
National Team coach Jurgen Klinsmann is presented as, well, less than a tactical genius during his
short-lived time leading Bayern.
Jason Davis writes how Bob Bradley continues to blaze trails for the American soccer coach.
Don't cry for Bob Bradley. Despite losing his job as the head coach of the United States
National Team rather unceremoniously just a week and a half ago, Bradley is already in the mix for
another position.

On Monday at Nike Town in New York City, US Soccer Federation President Sunil Gulati officially
introduced the new Head Coach of the US Men's National Team in Jurgen Klinsmann. It looked to be a
happy day as both men came to the make shift stage and presented ideas to the media who were eager
to hear their thoughts.
Humility is an important trait for anyone to possess, especially if you are a leader of men.
Coaches need to have a little of humility as an example for their players as how to show respect to
themselves, each other and the game.
Paul Gardner writes of a show of humility in defeat by three American coaches, including Los
Angeles Galaxy manager Bruce Arena - who is not known for being humble.
Certainly all Sounders FC fans know this, but Sigi Schmid has accomplished some
amazing things in his coaching career -- racking up wins, championships and other such spoils. Such
success has earned him the Walt Chyzowych Memorial Fund Lifetime Achievement Award for 2011, as
announced this week.
