Eight MLS teams are in action tonight playing league games across the country. We are at
Gillette tonight for the Revs/Chivas game, but we thought we would touch on business notes from all
of the games before providing some thoughts from Foxboro. All four games bring clear weather, juicy
matchups and disappointing crowds (10k on hand in DC and less than 6k in Foxboro).
It's nine days now until World Cup 2010 kicks off and the world takes a short break from work,
play and shooting at each other to watch some world-class footy. Thousands will travel to South
Africa to support their teams, but hundreds of millions more will watch from their home countries,
making this maybe the most watched television event ever.
It has been a while since we posted our most recent update of MLS sponsorships. We thought it
would be worth revisiting the status of corporate MLS sponsors. Companies such as Dick's, Makita,
Gatorade and others have been around for a while. VW, Panasonic and Pepsi are also prominent. In
late September of last year, Degree for Men partnered with SUM on a seven figure deal.

ago when Trevor Slavick was a pilot for American Airlines and he was getting ready to board a plane
in Honduras. When a kid at the airport offered to shine Slavick's shoes, the pilot decided to tip
the boy by giving him a soccer ball he had in his bag.
On a day that saw the formal announcement of Thierry Henry's signing with New York and the start
of the annual Summer friendlies between MLS teams and world renown clubs, MLS and Mexican clubs
started their Superliga tournament. The 8 team event features 4 teams from MLS and 4 teams from
Mexico's Primera Division.
Adidas Extends Contract with Major League Soccer
MLS announced that they have extended their partnership with Adidas until 2018. The original
agreement still had four years remaining on a 10-year $150 million agreement. The new deal will be
worth $200 million and will allow Adidas to remain the official athletic sponsor and product
supplier for the league.
