Why the 22,376 empty seats at Manchester United on Wednesday were a glorious sight for
true football fans
How can fans mourn Speed but gloat about Hillsborough and Munich and why Torres deserves more
stick than Carroll Why Christmas has come early for Tottenham and a cure for any fan with a case of
the Blues What a glorious sight that was at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
101 Great Goals #58 - Darren Ambrose
Gary Neville called it the best goal he had ever seen an opposition player score at Old Trafford.
It's a bold claim, but Darren Ambrose's strike that helped knock Manchester United out of the
Carling Cup was an absolute belter.
And here at Cheer Up Alan Shearer we're delighted to bring you this superb goal with some rare Alan
Partridge commentary.
Crystal Palace chairman dreaming of 'fairytale' Liverpool cup final
• Palace beat Manchester United to reach semi-finals • Steve Parish hails spectacular goal
by Darren Ambrose The Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish is dreaming of a "fairytale" Carling Cup
final against Liverpool after his side's shock quarter-final win over Manchester United at Old
Trafford.
After wearing the captain's armband during Manchester United's 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace in
last night's thrilling Carling Cup quarterfinal at Old Trafford, Jonny Evans realizes the amount of
pressure the team is under.
A spectacular long-range goal from Darren Ambrose was cancelled out by a Federico Macheda
penalty, which forced 30 minutes of extra time but the Red Devils still came up short courtesy of
Glenn Murray's decisive header.

Crystal Palace made it into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup for the first time in a decade
after beating Manchester United 2-1 in extra-time at Old Trafford last night.
After a dull first-half, Darren Ambrose put Palace one up in the 65th minute with a 30-yard
'Darren Ambrose Goal™' shortly before Kiko Macheda hauled United back level a few minutes later
by both winning and sticking away a penalty.
Eagles flying high at Old Trafford Manchester United were knocked out of the Carling Cup last night
as Championship side Crystal Palace pulled off a shock win at Old Trafford. The Eagles took the

Crystal Palace came to Old Trafford tonight as under-dogs and left as hero's as they beat
Manchester United 2-1 after extra-time in the quarter finals of the Carling Cup. A big mention must
go to former Palace striker and now manager Dougie Freeman who's inspired second-half substitutions
of Darren Ambrose and Glenn Murray came up with the goods as Ambrose scored a 35 yard stunner
before setting up Murray for the winner 9 minutes into the first period of extra time.
Darren Ambrose scores a brilliant 35 yarder at Old Trafford to give Crystal Palace a 1-0 lead
against Manchester United in the Carling Cup quarter finals.
Yesterday in Plymouth, Argyle's lead administrator Brendan Guilfoyle said an incredible thing...
no, wait, I know he's been saying incredible things since the start of Argyle's spell in
administration in March (and some Luton and Crystal Palace fans might be prepared to go further
back in history than that).
Congratulations to Ambrose TJ Smith from Cornwall and Ash Blackshaw from Bolton who won copies
of this DVD. Available from Amazon from £8.
The winner of the Stone-Dri Newton Heath t-shirt competition is Christian Atkinson from
Nottingham.
"VIDEO: United Drama" was originally published at The Republik of
Mancunia.
Stone-Dri's story began in the 1940s when a family of four brothers from Salford began to
produced coats and costumes from 95 Broughton Lane, Salford, under the name of ‘Stone-Dri – The
Direct Rain Coat Company'.
They manufactured mainly with traditional shower proof fabrics such as, cotton gabardine,
poplin, terylene and wool gabardine.
Brendan Ambrose Guilfoyle has a ‘complex' track record in football club administrations a
reputation to which he is living down as ‘lead' administrator at Plymouth Argyle, it appears.
Argyle's current situation was neatly, if inadvertently, summed up by adjacent headlines on
Plymouth's Herald newspaper web-site, as "Argyle's creditors agree debt offer as anonymous
preferred owner signs deal" jostled for position with "Argyle acting chairman on fraud and trading
charges.
