Grant Wahl: MLS team ambition rankings
Wahl ranks the Dynamo 10th overall and he makes some good points about the team's current
ownership situation. Want to get annoyed though? Read the paragraph about the Galaxy.
San Jose city officials have approved a Planned Development permit for the construction of the
proposed Earthquakes stadium. However, neighbors have until January 3 to appeal the granting of
the permit. The team hopes to have the stadium complete by 2013. If there is no appeal, the
team will move to the next step in next month, however an appeal could delay the process by weeks
or months.
14. D.C. UNITED
The most successful franchise in the early years of MLS has struggled mightily to find a better
stadium situation than it currently has at RFK, and the ongoing frustrations in the nation's
capital have caused United to consider perhaps moving to Baltimore. Out-of-town owner Will Chang
may or may not be committed for the long haul, and the club is trying to start over from scratch on
the field under coach Ben Olsen.
Arsenal and Juventus chase Leandro Damiao

Rafa Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia Quilon has dismissed growing speculation linking the former
Liverpool manager with Paris Saint Germain.
Al Jazeera announced yesterday that that Benitez was set to take over, but Quilon swiftly issued
the following denial:
"Rafael Benitez is in Liverpool tonight having dinner with his family.
Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov would swap his current situation with any Liverpool player in
order to fulfil his dream of playing for the Reds.
The 32-year-old began his career in his native Bulgaria with CSKA Sofia before being granted a move
to Celtic in the summer of 1999.
It was not until 2006 that Petrov finally realized his ambition of playing in the Barclays Premier
League, when he move to Villa Park for £6.
Match report
Firstly *boilk*
Secondly how fitting that on the 125th anniversary of the club we pulled out a 1-0 to the
Arsenal, a result so synonymous with the club.
Thirdly the game itself was nothing much to talk about. Everton came and not only parked the bus
but turned the bus sideways, then got another bus, attached that bus to the existing bus and then
added another bus before placing all the buses in a row well outside the white lines of the parking
space.
Morning all.
Last night Chelsea beat Man City. Not with iron bars, sadly. If it were up to me teams I didn't
like (which is all of them) would be sent onto the pitch carrying clubs and planks with nails
sticking out of them and told to have at each other. The team with most men left standing at the
end gets the three points.
Ince has England ambition
Blackpool midfielder Tom Ince says his ultimate ambition is to play for England, but admits a

Grant Wahl, failed candidate for the FIFA presidency and writer at SI.com on all things football
has listed all 19 MLS franchises in order of perceived ambitions. Not surprisingly, LA is #1,
followed by Seattle and NY. Not surprisingly either, our beloved Revs are last.
Here is the commentary that follows the Revs entry:
No fan base sends me more complaints about its own team ownership
than New England's.
The Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says that the only ambition he has for this season is to
make sure that the Gunners finish above their great rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Since Arsenal's
terrible start to the season Tottenham have taken a lead and are currently five points ahead after
yesterday's results, and also have a game [.
Fulham Football Club today announced a record profit of £5.4m and a record net profit of £4.8m
for the year ended 30 June 2011. The Cottagers have also revealed a record revenue of £77.1m for
the last season.
Fulham recorded a profit of £5.4m, before interest and taxation, and enjoyed a 4.
Tonight's game with Chelsea has unfortunately raised the issue of Luka Modric's future once
again but manager Harry Redknapp has been quick to claim that the influential Croatian is going
nowhere.
Luka appears to have put an unsettled August behind him and while he hasn't appeared at his best
in the club's last two league games, he is generally at the heart of our most creative
football.
