On the 1st of November most of us will be either flocking in our drones to the shops, or
sitting tentatively by the post box for one reason: FIFA 11. This article will help you save
some money as you prepare to make one of the essential purchases of the year...
If your an 'arry Redknapp wheeler, dealer then getting the game upon release at Tesco might be a
risk worth taking.

Diego Maradona in a Spurs shirt! If ever there was an image that made us fickle Spurs fans
ponder, ‘what if?' it was the vision of football's primo anti-hero wearing our bleedin' shirt.
Okay, okay, Diego was trotting out, half-cut, for his pal Ossie Ardiles' testimonial – but what a
player.
EA Sports has released a video featuring a behind-the-scenes look at the making of their TV
commercial for FIFA 11. The video stars Wayne Rooney, Andres Iniesta, Kaka, Mesut Ozil, the Arsenal
ladies and more.
If you haven't seen the FIFA 11 TV commercial yet, watch it now.
And don't forget that FIFA 11 will officially be released on Tuesday, September 28 in North
America, September 30 in Australia and October 1st in Europe.
If you're jonesing for soccer during the international break and can't wait that long until you
see the next match, do the next best thing. Play FIFA 11 online. This is just a quick reminder that
an EPL Talk league has been setup on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
To join the league on either system, please follow the directions below.
Real Madrid soccer jerseys are one of the most sought after jerseys in the
world. This is brought about by the club's league and Champions League success and the top football
stars in its lineup.
They were the top selling jersey seller when David Beckham used to play for the Spanish
club.
An FC Barcelona jersey for Christmas? Why not?!
Barcelona's recent thumping of Real Madrid surely increased the former's reputation as the best
club in Spain, if not the world. More victories, especially against an arch-rival would also mean
an increase of the club's value. And as the value increases, so does the sales.
The year is 2010. Fox Soccer Channel still doesn't have a podcast, which would have been a
perfect medium to tell people about going to HD, and to answer questions about Fox Soccer Plus. And
neither Fox Soccer Channel nor the Premier League have an official iPhone app, although in case of
the Premier League, maybe it has more important things to worry about right now such as the first
EPL club going into administration.
A theory doing the rounds in some quarters is that the crunch games in our push for fourth is
not the quartet against the big boys (Man Utd-l'Arse-Chelski-City) but the four against
the less glamorous mob – Pompey, Sunderland, Burnley and Bolton. Anything less than three points
against each of this lot, so goes the theory, and we really will throw away fourth spot.
Jimmy Reilly was angry. He knew he was angry, because every few seconds, he reminded himself he
was angry. To be angry furious was the official position of the team, and Jimmy was a member of the
team, wasn't he? Who else had played left fullback for the last twelve minutes against Kelly
Foundation Garments?
The Pepsi 2010 Football advert was the first to use the Oh Africa song Featuring Akon and Keri
Hilson and is now available to download as an MP3 or buy as a single. Its huge successful
advertising campaign has helped boost the levels of interest in this song and it is being
downloaded all over the world by different fans.
Wow, it seems Robert Green has had a lot of free time since losing his starting job to David James.
We all had thought he'd dealt with the aftermath of his howler against the US fairly well, but
apparently he's been venting about his experience with Jabulani, the Adidas match ball, in some
rather strange places.
Last week we started our series on the business of selling MLS and WPS merchandise online. The
first post looked at sales through official websites for the leagues and teams. You can view that
post here. Today, we will take a look at third party sellers of MLS merchandise.
We started with a simple Google search for "soccer jerseys" and the first hit was
WorldSoccerShop.
Good news for soccer fans in the United States. The Damned United, the brilliant film by Tom
Hooper and starring Michael Sheen, will be available in DVD format in the United States beginning
February 23, 2010.
The movie which tells the story of the working relationship between Brian Clough and Peter
Taylor is one of the finest British soccer movies seen on these shores.
I recently took a vacation and as always decide to catch up on some reading, or in this case go
back into the vault. When I was looking into books for my trip I wanted to find a soccer book to
gain some more insight on the game or its history. I came across the 2004 autobiography by David
Beckham - Both Feet On The Ground, and decided this was the one.
Do you need a new book? I don't but I want one (I have 6 footie books right now that I have yet to
read but my megalomania will not allow me to pass up even a paperback so I'll probably buy this one
anyway). So let's read Amazon has to say about my future purchase:
Woodburn High's Bulldogs, aka Los Perros, started their 2005 soccer season with eight undocumented
students, a midfielder groomed to play for a pro Mexican team, a goalkeeper living in his third
foster home, three boys who spoke almost no English, and an Irish-descended white coach desperate
to lead all of them to success.
It's competition time again. Up for grabs for the week to come is a book about the best chants
in football.
Throughout the country every weekend, football stadiums ring with the sound of hundreds of
thousands of supporters singing the praises of their favourite players, rubbishing the opposition,
having a go at the ref and waxing lyrical about past legends.
As we all know Tottenham have many dedicated fans, but few are more dedicated than Morris
Keston, a fan so devoted to the mighty Spurs that a book is due to be published about his amazing
life.
The biography of Morris Keston is entitled Superfan! and it's author is the writer and fellow
Tottenham fan, Nick Hawkins.

Local writers from the Storehouse Writers Workshop are set to launch their first book of collected
stories - all set in Southend.
The Writers Workshop was given a small grant by Turning Tides Neighbourhood Management - a project
supported by Southend Association of Voluntary Services (SAVS).
As many of you are probably aware by now, David Beckham injured his achilles in a match for AC
Milan during the weekend. The injury has removed Beckham from the England World Cup squad and will
force him to miss the rest of the Serie A season. If Beckham is able to return at any point this
season it would be in the fall for the end of the MLS season with the LA Galaxy.
Surely we couldn't do it again... could we? After the 120 minutes against Pompey, and epic win
on Wednesday night, I'll be impressed if half of them even make it through the warm-up, but yet
another Herculean effort is required today if we are to take advantage of the last-minute defeat of
Man City this lunchtime.
ESPN, "the Worldwide Leader in Sports", has already dropped their 2010 World Cup Guide "bookazine"
and next month will lay upon us the 256-page, hardcover ESPN World Cup Companion written by David
Hershey* and some other guy with a foreword by Canuckistan's most-fabled Celebrity Glory-Seeker,
Steve Nash.
Attention fellow book-nerds: if you made it through Markovits & Hellerman's Offside: Soccer &
American Exceptionalism AND Rangers, Rovers & Spindles with a smile on your face have I found a
treat for you. It's called Star-Spangled Soccer and it has interviews with everyone who has ever
had anything to do with American soccer over the last 20 years except for Tiffany May; Chuck
Blazer, The Don, Sunil Gulati, Clark Hunt, Jonathan Kraft, Joe Roth, Will Chang, Tim Leweike, Mark
Abbott and John Skipper are just a few of the people quoted in this 256-page, hardcover textbook
that may actually make the footie-business nerd in you want to go back to school.
While mooching a burger from the buffet in the Qwest Field press box during First Kick 2010, I met
a photographer by the name of Richard Morrison. Turns out he's actually a doctor by trade but a
footie-freak who knows his way around a camera. On June 1 he'll add "published author" to his
almost Barbie-esque resume when Sasquatch Press drops his first book, Seattle Sounders FC: Season
One.
We always worried about the News we provide to you. Not because we were worried about the quality

In celebration of England's passionate supporters, England 'Til I Die (compiled by
David Lane) reveals the funny, the absurd, the emotional, the peculiar and unbelievable that is
part and parcel of being a die-hard England fan.
Following England home and away has become a way of life for many people.

About three weeks ago author Steve Wilson reached out to me about his new book, "The Boys from
Little Mexico". He was interested in me doing a book review. I said sure but only if you throw
in a free autographed copy for one of my readers that wins it in a contest we will do! He said,
"yes, of course"!

It's REGIONAL READER WARS IV: The REVENGE!
Or something like that.
I am guessing that New Jersey didn't like getting "pwnd" as I described in our last installment,
and came in with numbers that nearly knocked New York off the top spot!
Estonia seems to be on the decline, surrendering a long held #2 spot, and Norway proved to be a
one hit wonder (Sorry Oslonians).
He is one of the most awesomist wordsmiths ever -like Neil Tennant if he took up soccer writing in
place of pop stardom. You have to listen to the first two minutes of this audio interview with him
promoting his superb new book on Amazon.com. The way he describes being a footie freak back in the
day is pretty much amazing; he somehow makes admitting you're a soccer fan sound like coming out of
the closet (not that there is any reason to be in a closet unless you are R.
3 Lions 2010 by The Squad featuring Robbie Williams and Russell Brand is now available to

Wavin' Flag by K'Naan the Canadian rapper, is now available to download as an MP3 or buy as a
single. It joins the long list of World Cup songs and anthems including 3 Lions 2010 The Squad ft
Robbie Williams and Russell Brand, Terry Venables with If I Can Dream and James Corden and Dizzee
Rascal's Shout for England
This is a good tune and has been out for a while, but still may be a contender for best World
Cup song.
