The big topic in football this week has been the ownership change on the blue side of Manchester
and what it means for both the Premiership and football economy. But contrary to popular belief,
there is other non-English stuff happening (guilty) and some of it is pretty damn discussion
worthy. Take for instance, the champagne [.
That's who he is. You know, in case anyone (or he) forgets. (AFP Photo/Vincenzo Pinto)
Juventus forward Amauri has opted to play for his home nation Brazil and not his adopted
homeland Italy . The Brazilian who is just about to receive Italian nationality has taken a long
time to make up his mind but has decided to opt for Brazil and will be hoping for ...
Artmedia 1-1 Juventus. Two years after the dark clouds of Calciopoli and Serie B tainted their
glorious European history, the Bianconeri are back into the club elite of the world, ready once
again to contend the "Cup with the big ears". Or in other words "Champions League,
here we come" might be saying Claudio Ranieri's [.
915 days, aka two years and a half since May 14, 2006: that's how long Juventus had to wait to
breathe top-ranking air in the Serie A again. Granted, it's an ex-aequo lead for now, and too bad
if those sharing 1st place with the Bianconeri are eternal rivals Inter Milan (set to clash at

Today, the Italian Olympic team advanced to the Toulon International Tournament Final, defeating
Japan 5-4 on penalty kicks in the semi-final. The Japanese frustrated the Azzurrini for 90 minutes,
and Casiraghi's side dominated, but couldn't finish chances. Italy looked dangerous when the ball
fell to the feet of Sebastian Giovinco (who should be voted best player of the tournament), but he
squandered chances and chances he created were squandered by other players.
Which Serie A transfer has made the biggest impact at his new club so far this season? is the poll

Milan have Ronaldinho, Inter have Mourinho, Roma have squat (for now at least), and Juve have
pre-season form. That and Amauri, the tall & skilled Brazilian (soon-to-be Italian, hopefully) some
Juventini did not even want back in May. I hope JuveAlessio is eating his words now, because
the ex-Palermo striker has been absolutely on fire in July pre-season matches.
For some reason whenever Serie A plays during the week I always feel like it isn't the same. I
love the tradition of Serie A Sundays and Serie A on Wednesday just feels strange. But it's still
Serie A, so I could care less because I love calcio. Giornata 4 was another great round of calcio:
Inter took sole lead of the Serie A table after getting a result vs a tough Lecce side thanks to
Julio Cruz, Juventus drew Catania at home and wasted many chances to get all 3 points, Milan keeps
bouncing back after a win in Reggio Calabria, Roma continues to struggle after losing away to
Genoa, and Fiorentina were outclassed by Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
Before you answer that question, ponder the following. Your team is tied 1-1, the match is still
very much left to play, and you, as a manager, are left with a choice. You can either keep
fighting, trying to get the winning goal (as the spirit of the game compels you to do: you win

Our good friends over in the "Just Do It" department seem to think not... Not Nike's
finest hour in terms of creativity, but love the video-game part...
Inter score three, Juve win it at the death. In the end it's all the same: three points in the bag,
and the Serie A standings unaltered. And so, because points are more important than goals or
scoring chances, several facts go unnoticed at the end of Sunday's match. Two of them are that
despite [..
"Anti-Inter". A big phrase for Italian newspapers this week-end, as indeed Sunday's
Juventus vs. AC Milan presented itself as a revealing showdwown. One to determine the Nerazzurri's
real contender for the Scudetto race, one to decide historical bragging rights between two teams
who, in the past two decades, have won more Serie A champions titles [.
Newly signed Juventus striker Amauri has officially attained his Italian citizenship.
Despite several strong seasons in the Serie A, and a wealth of talent in finding the back of the net, at 27 years old Amauri has still not been capped by his native Brazil. As such, he is still allowed ...

Is it too early to say "Juventus crisis, begone"? One thing is certain: in the lowest
moment of their season so far, the Bianconeri have really stepped it up when it counted. Coming
from five consecutive winless matches, there is nothing like beating Real Madrid and winning a
derby that will recharge your batteries in [.
Here's what I found interesting after reading various calcio news sites today:
-First, we have another managerial change in Serie A. Chievo haven't won since the first week of
the season and manager Beppe Iachini has been sacked. Taking his place will be Domenico Di Carlo,
who was in charge of Parma until March of last season.
There was one hell of a snowstorm in Northern Italy Saturday, and rescue operations are undergoing
at Turin's Stadio Olimpico. It seems that many Reggina players are still buried under the snow,
something which down in Calabria they evidently don't get to see a lot of. The same cannot be said
for Juventus, who welcomed [.
For those who follow the Italian Serie A would certainly have observed a certain Amauri at a
certain Palermo. The 27-year Brazilian is one of the hottest properties in Italy and has been
linked with a number of clubs, including Real Madrid and Juventus. But not Manchester United. Not
until now that is.
3 teams were in action today in Champions League qualifying matches. Juventus advance in 1-1 draw
Juventus was held to a 1-1 draw with Artmedia but advanced easily 5-1 on aggregate. Artmedia
jumped out to an early 1-0 lead off a beautiful goal from Branislav Fodrek in the 14th
minute. Watch the awesome bicycle kick: Juventus got the goal back in the 25th minute thanks
to a header by Amauri,
"Calcio-Champagne": noun Composite word formed by "calcio" and
"champagne". Typically utilized by the Italian press to describe a free-flowing,
short-passing, very technical and spectacular kind of footy. In other words, pretty far from the
spectacle Cagliari and Juventus gave us Sant'Elia today. I wouldn't go as far as to call it a
snooze-fest, but damn was it scrappy.
The third giornata of Serie A had less drama and surprises then the last two weeks, but it was
interesting and exciting nonetheless. All the big teams won (including Milan for the first time):
Inter swept aside Torino, Juventus won a tricky away game vs. Cagliari, Roma ended their
"crisis" by soundly defeating Reggina 3-0, Milan finally won with a 4-1 victory over
Lazio, and Fiorentina keep chugging along (with Gila scoring goals) with a win vs.

Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, Juventus was reborn Tuesday. With two majestic strokes of the
paintbrush, one by Del Piero to erase a never-ending streak of injuries, another by Amauri to wipe
five consecutive winless matches clean, the Bianconeri imposed a lesson of great will &
determination on their Real Madrid rivals.
It has long been thought in Italy that Palermo's Brazillian-born, nearly-Italian striker Amauri
Carvalho de Oliveira, fondly known as just Amarui, will be on his way this summer. It is only rival
in the "it's given" stakes has been that he'd be on his way to Turin. Juventus have
publically stated their admiration for the [.
Here's what I scrounged around for today:
-Milan striker Marco Borriello has been operated on and will now start his recovery. Reports are
he will be out for around 2 months. (could be less if he puts a lot of hard work into the recovery
process.)
-Pierluigi Casiraghi is predicting a big Olympic performance from Lazio striker Tommaso
Rocchi.
I'm going out on a limb in suggesting Udinese will beat Juventus. Di Natale is the man of the
moment and Amauri will be host to his old club. Also like Roma over Palermo and Seina to
do the business at home over Cagliari. Match Day Two Pick the Score Bookmark to:
Giornata 2 was another exciting week of Italian calcio. Inter and Juventus got back on track
with wins, but Roma, Milan, and Fiorentina fell back a step with losses. Lazio continues to impress
(Mauro Zarate especially) and Atalanta show they are a solid side. Cagliari still finds itself
without any points (like Milan) and Massimiliano Allegri looks set to be on Cellino's chopping
block.
Ladies & gentlemen, Juventus is IN. As in saying "the Doctor is IN", only in a football
team context. Just a few days before their important reconciliation with Champions League (FC Zenit
is waiting), the Bianconeri gave a convincing display against Udinese on Sunday. Kinda like a way
of saying: "Bring it on Europe, we're [.
Milano.
Juventus gained a morale boosting 2-1 win at the Stadio Olimpico vs. Real Madrid. The goals came
from Alex Del Piero and Amauri, and now Juventus sit on top of their group with 7 points.
Fiorentina weren't as lucky today. La Viola suffered a 3-0 defeat at the Allianz Arena, and if they
don't start picking up points their dreams of qualifying for the knockout round will be over.
As long as Alessandro Del Piero keeps netting, Juventus have nothing to be afraid of! The club from
Turin took three points from the outing to Bergamo in the last round having beaten Atalanta 3-1,
thus cutting the trail behind Inter to six points. And again, old chap Alex was brilliant on the
pitch. Del [.
